Was so painful, i couldnt finish it. After years of waiting an yearning for a good pokemon game i gave this one a chance, but was utterly disappointed. Yes the gameplay on its own is actually a fun new spin on the franchise but everything else drained any last speck of motivation to continue playing. The first region looks okayish, after beeing dissappointed with the most unoriginal village (just houses in rows on a flat field) i thought i could actually like this game, but it got increasingly worse... The graphics shouldnt define a game, but some of those ugly barren regions with horrendous repeated textures literally hurt my eyes sometimes und took all the enjoyment out of whatever fun the gameplay has to offer. The leveldesign feels constantly like youre somewehre you shouldn't have acess to and someone left some debug buildings (or rather just shapes) there and forgot to clean it up or finish it. At the later regions the environment is reduced to ugly rock texture on a height map and one spot with cubes stuck together. I kid you not, i didnt even recognize the "palace" or whatever its supposed to be as a building. And then the "fun" is grinded to a halt constantly with endless braindead dialog. I really enjoy story in games even silly ones, but this? i just gave up on reading and still was miserable clicking through it while the characters stand around weirdly glitching from one stupid expression to the next. I really tried to give the game a chance and forced myself to finish the main objective (as i thought) but when the game tosses in a very forced plot twist to stretch the story, i hit my breaking point and didnt touch it again. To be honest if the game ended after the first region, it might have been a very short but good experience.
