I couldn’t tell you truthfully if this game was good or not because I couldn’t get past a half hour of playing. Why? Because I don’t think they payed a translator for this game and just googled Chinese to English and threw the words into the dialogue box. At one point I had to go and read the previous script to see if I missed something. Then it went back to read the game description to see if I missed the fact the main character was in a foreign country. Nope. The animations seemed weird too but I chalked that up to the MC’s condition. Anyways, I wish I could actually score this but I’ll just say if you are only an English speaking person, the dialogue would be nonsense because it is. If you ever thought a Japanese VN translation was bad, this game comfortably broke that record in the half hour I shook my head and wondered if I was having a stroke.

Inescapable: No Rules, No Rescue4

I honestly didn’t finish this “game.” Let me start off by saying that it has a ton of potential. It starts off decent but nothing we haven’t seen in this genre. 11 strangers of various backgrounds isolated from society with the intent to entice murder, deceit, etc. I think my problem is that if you’re relying on strictly a narrative and development through no gameplay you have to make some characters likable. That is my biggest problem. None of the characters are likable whatsoever and as time passes in game they become even less so. I am sure the writers intended that as meaning they descent into madness the longer they are isolated but it’s never truly fleshed out. That’s another issue is nothing is ever really fleshed out. A lot of superficial things happen but the psychological impacts aren’t really spoken about or played up. Everything is implied. Also there are a lot of unnecessary add ons. Fishing, word finder, the gossip stuff seem pointless other than the gossip part but just as you think you’re getting somewhere with that, they randomly take it away. They don’t explain how you gather points to unlock gossip and dirt and it just seemed arbitrary when you got the points. None of the gossip or dirt really seemed to make much of an impact to the dialogue either. I think once a reference was made to the dirt I unlocked. What is annoying is there is never enough time to fully explore anything. You SOMETIMES get a morning, afternoon and evening attempt to interact but sometimes your character will randomly decide to sleep in or take naps meaning you have less chances to really find out what is going on. It also skips days as you move along in the game. At one point it skips an entire week! This is a game that you’re suppose to play multiple times to get multiple endings but in the end I couldn’t even get through one. This had the potential to be great but I feel like the writers played other games like Zero Escape and Danganronpa and decided they could try to do it and either got bored mid way through or just decided to make the most unlikable cast of characters ever. Not sure but I ended up feeling like I wasted about 15 hours of my time and more frustrated while playing the game versus frustrated I’ll never finish it.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong6

I thought this was a solid but uninspired effort. Never played a game in this series but I liked it enough to try. The other one is a total visual novel but this one has gameplay and decision making that has minimal implications outside of how much exp you earn to level up and learn new skills. I was able to plow through this in a weekend and I believe the game is intended to play multiple times for different results. After I finished I looked it up and I got the ideal ending so I never bothered. You play as three different characters all trying to solve the same crime. I liked 2 of the 3 characters (Em can ****) but their stories were solid. I got the game severely on sale so I wouldn’t pay more than $10 for it but if you get it for that low or better you won’t feel you wasted time.

I thought this was a fantastic game. I happened to buy this because I’m a huge Kemco fan. Let me start off by saying the combat and set up take a ton of time to get use to, at least for me. There is no exp and level up your characters but there is a progression through leveling your special moves. I found the overheat option silly but got in tune with it after a few hours. The selling point of this is the story. This story is up there with the best Final Fantasy. My friend just started playing and said it has a big Chrono Trigger vibe. The graphics are clean and nicely animated but if you want a top tier story you likely grew up with. You’ll love this like I did.

Extremely short game. I beat it and got the platinum trophy in about an hour and a half. Fun little game for what it was. Search and find game with the cool mechanic of switching between man and dog.

this is hard to truly score because it’s two separate games. I loved the first one and didn’t finish the second one. Not that anything really changed between the two except the last dungeon of the second game had me rage quit several times. Worth a play and extremely rare for Kemco to have a direct sequel to a game. I’ve played almost every kemco game on PlayStation and I would put this one as a whole in the middle of the pack.

I didn’t hate this game. I just feel compared to the other games I’ve played from kemco (which is probably 90% on PlayStation) this didn’t hold up.Very basic linear story. No side quest. Combat is basic and a knockoff of the Trails series from Falcom. The characters are your standard kemco characters but don’t have a lot of depth to them. I also dislike RPG games when you have a lot of characters and can only use 3. For me an RPG has 4 in a battle. Three just doesn’t work when you have multiple characters in reserve. I barely paid attention to the gem system. I just upgraded my equipment and leveled up quickly to make the game easy. This is a lower end Kemco game I felt just existed and didn’t do anything inherently wrong but nothing really good.

Only played my 10 hour EA trial but loved it. I think they’ve improved the in game play to the point they would need to do a complete rebuild for it to feel different. What still needs to happen is they really need to update the menus, add a coach mode, improve the be a pro to not look like a C-level MLB the show knockoff and of course develop franchise mode more. I know we are all moving towards online game play but these can use plenty of small improvements to make it feel like a big change. Also can we please have in game feel more like a broadcast? With ESPN or TNT having tv rights can either have them or just dress up the presentation. It’s so bland but I will say the in game commentary has vastly improved from previous years. Would just like to see more in game cutscenes and analysis. The post goal scenes seem superfluous and unnecessary but proves they can add plenty of visual in game improvements to make the experience more enjoyable. Since the be a pro is essentially an mlb the show knockoff why not have the presentation taken from them as well? Have regional or national coverage and let the player decide. I still gave this an 8 just because the in game mechanics have been refined to almost perfection. The zone pressure gauge is a fantastic addition and since I’m a former goaltender, the goalie animations have been immensely improved. I can finally be a pro with a goaltender and not always let in 8 goals a game. Games feel realistic and extremely dramatic as the games go on. Having the presentation match that would make this top tier and easily the best sports game on the market. Your so close EA, finish the job now!

Great game it does take a little bit of getting use to with the 2d pixel characters and the really detailed 3d scenery but once your eyes adjust this is a truly fantastic game. Best Star Ocean game I ever played.

The story is all over the place. The gameplay mechanics are really nice but this is definitely a game you shouldn't put much thought into the story because you'll start to notice some very obvious and wide open plot holes that will in the end frustrate you greatly. Also the game is pretty short all things considered. I finished the main story and most side missions (my file was 84.45%) in four days of playing roughly two hours a day. I mean I could go back and finish some crypts and platinum the game but the story really made me angry with the really lazy writing that could have been avoided.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age8
Nov 27, 2018
This was a fun game and at first you find the idea of using the old school music and sound effects as charming but it quickly wears thin after 8-10 hours. The gameplay itself is your standard classic turn based JRPG which is not a bad thing. Too many companies now try to over complicate RPG's now so it is nice to have a straight forward system. Part of the reason I have given this an 8 instead of higher is because of the end of part two that leads into part three. I won't spoil it but I just felt like the whole "resolve everything with altering time" is played out. It didn't even feel necessary when it first happens as the reason revolves around characters you barely ever deal with. Second is the voice acting which is absolutely AWFUL. It seriously is one of the worst voice acted games I've ever heard. If They put the Japanese voice over work into this, I'd probably bump this to a 9 but thankfully the gameplay is so enjoyable I only knocked it down to an 8. Still this is worth playing but play knowing you'll probably mute or turn down the volume many times while playing.
