This game has defied all odds and in a week where we've seen a stealth drop of a major remaster (remake?) and the impending Switch 2 release just a month away, this game has stood out and claimed 2025 as its own. In a gaming ecosystem where games as service and online playing reigns supreme, the story and incredible voice acting immediately hooks you in the prologue, so you truly care about the characters and the story you're thrown into. This game has been an absolute surprise and utter delight. I love this game!!!

Exploring is the name of the game, and space travel is all I care for. People rib the game for being "pointless," but I'd argue it was a true space sim when it first came out. The universe is an empty place, why would it be filled with countless species? This game is SO much fun and I will admit I love playing with my buds now, but I always understood and appreciated the game's original vision.

When this game first released years ago, I will admit I was a Day One purchaser. I didn't regret it then because no game had ever introduced us to fluid space flight, going from planet to space, with no loading screen. I had a tear in my eye departing my first planet. The game has simply gotten better, but I will never forget the first feeling of leaving a planet in my ship. The new VR mode definitely comes close to replicating the true exploration-driven theme. Everything looks massive now! It's awesome.

Wow, what a cool game. I downloaded the demo and it blew my mind. So, I purchased it off of PSN. The manipulation of light as a means to manipulate reality is such an innovative idea. The game is a lot of fun too. It really makes you think. One potential turn-off is the fact the game is set up as level-based challenges, much like downloadable games for phones. That being said, I don't really think the game is priced fairly because of how short it is. Journey would be a better use of $15 than this. However, this game is gorgeous and also great. If you play the demo and are intrigued, I'd say, "get it." You'll like it.

I've used metacritic for years, but have never felt compelled to actually write any reviews... until now. I cannot stress enough what an amazing experience this game was. I sat in my room, eye level to my tv, turned out all the lights and let the game take me away. I beat the game in less than two hours, yet I know my adventure will forever be a part of me. This game was incredibly powerful and moving. I don't want to ruin anyone's experience by providing too much information. I just want to argue that this game, this masterpiece, is a direct rejection of Roger Ebert's unfaltering stand that video games can never be art. After playing this game, I can honestly say, he is incredibly wrong in his assessment. This game is beautiful and I cannot recommend it enough. Play. This. Game. Maybe I'll run into some of you out there :)
