This game only came out in 2016 but it just feels so old. It feels way older then it is. If it was made today I'd be all over it because you can't get better then this in this genre. If you like this type of game you have to play it, but for where I'm at right now and how much more there is to get through I just can't give up the time to this particular world. It's a good game but it feels 8 years older then it actually is.

This game is phenomenal and I can't recommend it more. It's not a perfect game though, a couple issues I had were: although the graphics are amazing, the animations in the faces do not match the depth in which the emotion and passion of the voice acting and writing are able to reach. There is so much power behind many of the performances but unfortunately often times their faces will appear blank or barren, which at times, rips you out of the intensity of the scene. My next two biggest issues actually tie together quite well. There are far too many forced walking sections, hey! You know what? I don't mind a good walking moment, especially when the acting is as good as it is here. But, there're just too many and too close together, that it would get annoying at times. Which is one of the reasons why it's a perfect segue into how I think it... well, it over stays its welcome. Not by much mind you! But towards the end wanted it to wrap up. I was still enjoying myself and heavily invested in the story, I had just found myself wishing that it got there a little sooner (granted, I was taking my time and looking for every collectible, so I know that my feelings on that might have changed if I was just following the path with no deviation). But still, even with that, it should have ended maybe an hour, at most two hours sooner. I didn't want them to cut anything from the story itself, because it really is so good! But there was bloated moments or even animations that I knew shouldn't take so long and it all just added up to a longer run time when it didn't need to. So those are my complaints. My praise for this game is so high that I'll keep it short. The acting is breath taking most of the time, the writing is fantastic! The gameplay is a lot more involved and evolved then the first title. It is a heck of a lot of fun to play and it's jaw dropping to look at and experience. You need to play this one! Especially on game pass, you have no right not playing this if you have game pass. I personally think it's worth full price but... it is a must play and falls in my top games of 2022. Although, I won't say why but there are 17 chapters and I strongly believe it should've ended after 16, it was the perfect ending in my opinion.

It's definitely the best Lego game, but there is just too many games out for me to want to stick around for this one. Great if you love this type of game or if you're obsessed with Star Wars, Legos or collectathons. I'm none of those so I'm setting this game down and will not return to it.

Okay, so I played this game because a couple of my friends wanted me to download it so we could all play together. They decided not to get it, so I played alone. I think this game could really be fun with a group but alone I didn't have fun. It's on game pass so it's worth trying out for sure. You might really like it but it just wasn't there for me on my single play. Mechanics and graphics are there, besides many small quality of life features. It has the makings of a fun game. I just couldn't get into it after the few hours I put in. I decided not to see this one through and totally take it out of my back log too. Even if they do decide to download it, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back into it. It's the definition of fine.

Well it's freaking Half Half 2. One of the most ultimate of ultimate classics. You don't have to be a gamer to know that Half Life is still after all these years at the pinnacle of gaming and story telling. Even at the time of this short review, December 2022, it's still an extremely fun game to play and the story is timeless and brilliant. What an incredible world! Saying you love this game isn't enough. With that said, old games are old, even though this still holds up to a pretty good extent - it's still an old game... And old games are old. If you haven't experienced these games there's no question. You must. YOU MUST! Sorry for yelling. A review like this could've been read at release, all that's needed is a single word - Perfection. But it's 2022 and again, old games are old... And yet, still gets a 9 from me. So good!

I wrote an entirely different review but it was way too long for metacritic. So I'm taking less time to write a much shorter one. I can't recommend this game more. Okay, so let's get that out of the way. I loved the combat, so freaking good! The graphics and characters, the writing and acting... you don't often see better. Buut... Although I know I'll be in the minority here... I can't help this feeling after getting to the credits and feeling deep disappointment. The world design throughout the majority of the game felt like I was playing on a set with set dressing, I didn't feel like I was in a living and breathing world. I felt... like I was on a set. There were many incredible moments, jaw dropping sections in the game. But do you remember the third game and how just utterly epic that was from start to finish? I mean, it didn't let up the entire way through. Where were all the god fights? Yes, I know there were much more than the 2018 one, but if this was truly the ending to the Norse Sequence like the developers said... Where were they all? Where were all the norse gods? I know, I know! Trust me, I'm giving the game a darned 9 for crying out loud. I loved it! Okay. But still, they were too scared to make any big choices and just... the ending! Oh my gosh, I think I may have just deeply disliked it. I went in depth with spoilers and explanations in my other review on the other platforms but won't here because there isn't enough space. I don't know. I can feel a great love for this game, while at the same time be feeling a deep disappointment for what I had hoped would happen in the story. This game is very comfortably sitting in 4th place on my personal game of the year list. When I think back on God of War Ragnarök, I will think. Holy cow that game was so freakin awesome... I'll take a pause, then say, "Wasn't it? It was right?" No doubt the person I'm saying it to will say, "Heck yea it was!" Because it is awesome. But at the same time I will always wonder if it actually really was as awesome as everyone says it is. I'm giving it a gosh darned 9 so I clearly think it is... but there's this Kratos shaped hole in my heart and I can't help but know, that I won't know, if I thought it was as awesome as everyone else. In fact, no, that isn't true. I know that, although I love the heck out of this game, I don't love it as much as everyone else. It could've and should've been better. Although at the same time I'm giving it a nine and freaking love the game too. Why am I in such a weird spot with it?This is what I'll say about it... It was a very good game and I really liked, ney! loved it a lot. But I will add no excited inflections nor will I be adding any exclamation points (besides after the one I added after the word 'ney') You can hate me all you want and I know many of you will. I am saying I love this game, I just personally had hoped for a bit of a different story. Again, I can't recommend this game more. Go out and buy it and sing your love from Olympus or your basement, or wherever. Just know that I don't love it as much as you do.

This game for the standards in 2005, is incredible! They really did a good job here adding not only a fantastic horror story but implement and take bullet time to the next level. I was 15 when this game was released and I can remember being scared, intrigued and loving the excellent combat! Admittedly it's not great in 2022 (at the time of writing this) but still pretty darn fun actually. You can see how cool and technically built it was back then, but it is very old. You have to be willing to allow yourself to enjoy old games to like it, but I think you should. This is a must play and a great addition to the books of gaming history.

I liked this one quite a bit. I didn't finish it, but sunk quite a few hours into it. I enjoyed my time with it but eventually, I got to a point in which I just felt... "I've seen enough." I really try my hardest to get to the credits in most things I play and so often times I get to that point. In a shorter game I would've seen it through but I knew I had a long ways to go. So, although I'm happy I spent the amount of time in the world as I did... It kind of fell flat for me and eventually lost me. It lost me enough, to where I'm taking it out of my backlog too. I'm officially saying, this game is good and for those who like this genre potentially amazing! But I'm gonna be completely done with it now. Love you too! Watch the trailers, if you think it looks cool. You will enjoy your time with it. Go play it on gamepass or buy it on a sale. If you watched the trailer and thought it looked dumb... there's a chance it might win you over, but not for very long. Deep sale or game pass.

Dec 10, 2022
The Callisto Protocol is an incredibly detailed and gruesome world, often times called the spiritual successor of the masterpiece that is Dead Space. However, although created by the creator of Dead Space, this is an entirely different venture and one that is worth experiencing. There are quite a few similarities between the two but instead of going through those. The Callisto Protocol stands on it's own two feet in it's rightful place as a great Action Horror. It was originally placed under the survival horror genre but I think, as of late, we've all gotten a little too loose with that term. This game is not a survival horror. Yes, you must try to survive the utterly brutal and bloody combat and it is a horror and horrific experience, with inventory management. But you aren't scavenging for ammo, nor do you ever feel like you can't take on what's coming around the corner. Instead, you're given a fantastic dodge mechanic or a block mechanic (although has chip damage) and plenty of ammo and health pickups along the way. You also have a 'telekinesis' ability that allows you to grab enemies and freeze them in place while gripping them towards you; setting you up for a melee combo to end with a shotgun blast or allowing you to hurtle them towards the many conveniently placed traps, where there are far too many. So with all the tools, abilities and plentiful pickups at your disposal, you never truly feel like you might not be able to handle your next encounter, even on the maximum security difficulty, which is the one I played on, and the only difficulty I believe you should play this game on. It's too easy to ever make you feel scared and so I can't imagine what a cake walk it must be on the lower difficulties. Although, I'd bet, it's still a heck of a lot of fun! But with that said, instead of categorizing it as a survival horror, I think we should be calling it an action horror and allowing for players to understand that it's a bit different, despite sharing many of the same elements of a survival horror. I played on a 3080 Ryzen 9 with ultra graphics set and it was as unbelievably gorgeous to look at, as it was gruesome and disgusting. Puss filled balloons made from the rotting corpses of your fellow peers, paint the floors and walls. Hideous monstrosities fill the corridors hoping not to eat you but to pass along the very virus that made them the way they are. It's your job to figure out what happened and hopefully make it out alive. The story for the first 3/4ths the game is very mild. An infection is loose and making it's way from person to person morphing them into abominations and like the growth of plant life, it's rapidly taking over everything that is known as Black Iron Prison. It isn't really until the final few chapters where the story really picks up and takes off, it's incredibly interesting the whole way through. But I really enjoyed where they went with it. It isn't anything we haven't heard before, but it's similar to, well, almost a resident evil in Space. I loved it, I don't think it's as good as Dead Space, but for what they did; I found myself being enthralled with it all, I had to see where the story took me. It's very clearly designed to be a new series and I just simply can not wait for the next stage in the story that they are telling. They are currently working on patches, but the first few days there were noticeable frame hiccups and drops, especially when it was during a time that would cause you to get hit. It didn't happen often for me and was never bad enough where it ruined the experience but it was noticeable and unfortunately did take you out of the immersion. They've made a couple patches and it's already gotten significantly better and I know they'll continue to work on more. But besides that small negative detail, I found myself falling in love with this game! Everything from the combat, to the acting! To the music and graphics, it was all so top notch and so well done. There's a lot of hate for this game right now and I can understand some of the criticisms. But the hate? I'll be honest, I don't see it and I don't get it. This isn't as good as Dead Space, but space is massive and there's plenty of room for other stories like this to be told and experienced. I truly think you're missing out if you don't see this one to the finish! I love it and I am eagerly awaiting any future content!

As of right now, 12.3.22... There's still some pretty frustrating bugs when it comes to certain actions. Button prompts not registering either as quickly as you can input, or even sometimes at all. Which can lead to your character just standing there not doing anything, opening you up to getting hit or even dying when it isn't your fault at all. But... when that doesn't happen and the combat is working well, it's a heck of a lot of fun to play! The moment to moment gameplay between the combat arenas is boring and only serves the purpose to get you to the next area where you fight a bunch of enemies... and there are these awful, truly horrendous 'puzzles' that serve only to pad out the run time, which I beat in roughly 13 hours I think. Seriously, the puzzles that are here are nothing more than frustrations and they're only there so the developers can say it's 11 hours not 10 (making it seem a bit more worth it) But when you're fighting and it's working, it's a heck of a lot of fun! Great enemy design! Awesome graphics and mechanics! Story is fine, it's nothing that you're going to write your mamma back home about but it's serviceable. The characters are bland and the writing is next to atrocious but still some how interesting enough to where I wanted to see it through to the end. But oh man! That combat really is the reason to play, and it gives it good reason to. It reminds me of how games use to be, simpler... straight forward and fun. A very video game, video game, the way boss battles use to feel too. It's like an early 2000's game but made for a 2022 audience. I paid full price for it and don't regret it at all... But, it'll probably serve you better waiting for a sale. But, once that sale happens; I really think you should pick it up. Unless you haven't played Callisto Protocol yet. Go play that first IT'S SO DANG GOOD! Okay, I have now finished the story and I was originally planning on going through and playing it on new game+ to get all the other achievements. But it's now 12.08.22 and they have yet to address the combat bugs. Which are catastrophically frustrating. The combat is very high energy and you need split second timing to perform actions in order to survive or let alone have fun. As the game went on, at least for me, it seemed like the bugs were getting worse and more frequent - happening non stop through every single fight. I would dodge an attack and go to shoot, but nothing would come out, I would have to dodge again and then I could shoot. But I had already lost the important moment I needed for max damage. I would switch weapons, the weapon wouldn't switch. I'd have to dodge or switch to a weapon I didn't need before he would pull it up; but not to use it... oh no, no no! Just to stand there and do nothing. I would then have to dodge again in order for the first weapon I wanted to even pop up, but then I'd have to wait a second before the game would register that the gun was equipped. Every moment is important and a second wasted could mean death, or a missed opportunity for heavy damage. It was beyond infuriating. If I wasn't a completionist, I probably would've put the game down because even though it's a lot of fun when it works... and it really is a lot of fun. There are just too many bugs within the high octane combat that dampers the experience and leaves you angry. But even in that anger you're still kind of enjoying yourself somehow. You should play this game, but you need to wait for game pass or a very deep sale... At least until they can fix these major issues... and even then, despite knowing you'll have fun. At full price it isn't better then other games that are out right now. You should still wait for a sale.

Especially right now, I have had crash after crash, and numerous other bugs hit me. Which I'm usually pretty forgiving of, but I didn't have enough fun while I was playing to forgive those missteps so easily. The story isn't bad, the graphics are great and even though the progression if very grindy I had fun enough in the few hours that I played to give it a 6. Get it on game pass, do not buy. This game should win or at least be nominated for it's sound design. Perfect and satisfying! I found myself getting frustrated during my playthrough though, not because of the puzzles, I thought they were easy and interesting enough and well thought out. But more because of the movement of the character. The way they designed the 2d/3d is gorgeous and well realized and detailed, but it left wanting on the actual mechanics of it all. It's on game pass so I think you need to experience it, but I wouldn't buy this one.

Resident Evil 3 is another fantastic remake. They have recreated Raccoon City in breath taking detail. The writing, characters and story are all top tier, along side with the monster design and intense combat (especially on the higher difficulties). I found myself really enjoying exploring and trying my darndest to survive the somewhat "complex" level design as it loops in on itself while you look for items to move on from point to point. Although, with that said, I couldn't help but finding myself rolling my eyes at nemesis all while becoming very frustrated with how much more I had hoped some of the combat actions were more fine tuned and precise. It was also more cheesy at parts than I had hoped. I know that the resident evil series is often cheesy and that can be some of the charm to it. I just don't want it to be, I know I'm in the minority with that thought, but I actually have always disliked that aspect. Anyways, it's definitely worth getting on sale. I wouldn't spend full price on this one, but $20 bucks or less, I don't think you can go wrong.

Admittedly my group of gaming friends didn't want to partake in this game. I know! How lame, if I could review them I'd give them a 3 out of 10 but as it is here. Playing 'alone' with randos I can't give this one more then a 6. It's a pretty fun game actually, well put together and very fun to be apart of the world for an Evil Dead fan. They obviously knew and cared about the world and lore when making this. I feel like it's fun enough and put together well enough to potentially have gotten a higher score but my experience with it couldn't raise it any. There were some technical issues and horrid people to play with of course. Cause we all know that people ****! Not you or me of course! But, you know, people. Others, that are never us but some how beings that exist that just **** to play with. The reason that most randos exist, is because they ****! Or are poopy people, they're stink masters and none of they're friends want to play with them or play the game that they're wanting to play. So they go into online gaming alone playing with other people that are in a similar situation. WAIT, what?! Oh no!! No! Not me! NOT ME TOO!! NO!!!! I promise, I'm no Rando! I... I... WHO AM I?! What have I become? I promise, I'm no rando but I did happen to play alone and randomly with other people who ARE randos. But not me! My mom didn't raise me to be no random person to play Evil Dead The Game with. No! She raised me right. OR DID SHE!? NEVER KNOW! OR DO YOU? Anywho... It would be a fun weekend with some friends, a fun couple hours alone... But in either case probably not worth a whole lot of time more than that. If it wasn't Evil Dead it would've gotten a lower score without friends. But it was fun getting back into this world in this way. Don't buy it, unless on a deep deep sale. Or, like I said before if you have a group of friends that are dedicated to putting enough time into it to make it worth it. Even with that, not worth more then $15. GOOD DAY TO YOU!

I want to preface that this game isn't made for me, I'm not a gamer that likes this genre of game in most cases. But, I play hundreds of games a year if not more and go into every single one of them with an open mind. This. Is. Boring. I couldn't bring myself to get past the first few hours. The art style is well done but I don't like it, the voice acting is decent, I don't like it. I can get through a bad game if the story is good enough, or if the gameplay itself is good enough; I don't like em. I can ignore a thousand different things if just one thing is good enough. I didn't find that one thing here. I'm giving it a 2 because of nostalgia and I do my reviews based off my enjoyment. I could've given it a 1 if I wasn't taken back to childhood like I was... and I was brought back and that was fun for 5 five minutes. Then I freaked out and cleaned my room before my dad could get home and ground me. But then I got scared because my dad's been dead for eight years! I thought about his funeral, I thought about the casket; thought about the food and I thought about this game. It was then that I realized, I had a better time there then I did Returning to Monkey island.

You stand underneath the stars looking up at their lights only to know that the only illumination that you see from them is an empty void of fear and nothingness. You've died and now live in your greatest worry. To be under the sea in it's, much like where the cosmos lives, infinite sorrow. You are alone, not entirely sure if you're drowning or if you're finally alive. Either way you can't do either so you press forward wondering if you're swimming or if your walking in space. They're both alien to you, or maybe you're alien to them. It no longer matters because all there is, is the abattoir of nothing that you have to cross. But to what? Home? There is no home and you can no longer remember if there ever even was. Anyways... This game isn't bad. okay okay.... I loved the atmosphere! The sound design and combat are both very well done. It's a lot of fun and has a world worth exploring! Beautiful art design. I'm giving this a 6 but not because it doesn't deserve a higher rating because you would have a very good argument for a 7 or an 8. But I often times have to be really **** in for this type of game to really hold my attention for more than seven - eight hours. If you like metroidvania games, than I think you can't go without giving this one a try. Especially on game pass! There are many games in this genre that I truly do love and I adore the world that they've created here but there is something that's missing for me on this one. Again, my 6 doesn't mean the game is bad, because it's not and I recommend it for those who love this genre, but in the end I can't bring myself to give it higher than this.

+ Decent story and characters + Good Art Design - Combat quickly becomes boring (Not only despite them trying to change it up a lot, but precisely because they try to change it up too much... Adding a bunch of stuff that I thought made the combat boring) - not great sound design - poor music - Some will find the fixed camera irritating but it didn't bother me The first couple hours is very reminiscent of the original God of War. Which, I actually really did enjoy. I had the thought, "Oh, I'm going to really like this game." But... as I sunk more hours into it I was not only getting bored quickly but frustrated. Not because it was hard or anything, I actually couldn't tell you why I was. I've been thinking about it, and I just found my enjoyment of the gameplay dying pretty quickly. I liked the two main protagonists, the story was interesting and I could tell they put some care into the world they were building. I actually wanted to see where the story went but I didn't want to have to actually play it anymore to get there. In the beginning hours I really wanted to give this game an 8. But unfortunately the more I played the more I disliked. I'm going to have to give this a 5. A game that perfectly defines the meaning of the word, "Meh".

But it's very reminiscent of older survival horror... like original RE or silent hill. Now I don't think its anywhere near as good as those games but that in all transparency could be nostalgia talking. I really did love the world and the lore, but it was missing something for me. The gameplay speed, graphics and controls might not be for everyone, but if you like the original survival horror games then I think you might really enjoy this one. I wouldn't buy it though, not unless it was on a very deep sale, get it on gamepass and give it a try with an open mind. + interesting world + creepy and sad atmosphere/lore/story + reminiscent of older survival horror + good puzzles - graphics will not be for everyone - slower paced gameplay (negative for some) - I lost my save! I wouldn't say this game is fun by any means, at times yes. I did however enjoy myself in its world. But no more than a 4 in the end.

I had pretty good time with this one. Good graphics, no technical issues for me. Some what interesting world, and creative mechanics that add it's own flair. Not gonna go too in depth but it's free so of course I recommend it. It just didn't hold me in its world for as long as I was hoping. There are better types of games like this, or maybe not necessarily better, but other games in which their world hooked me more. Like Undecember and Grim Dawn. Give those other two a shot first, but this is free so you minds as well go into it with the expectation that you'll have fun!

Trust me, I know that I'm in the very fringe minority here giving this game a '5'. Blasphemy in many gaming circles. The combat was very well designed, so too were the enemy concepts. I also enjoyed the themes the story was playing with too. I know that the issue is within me that I gave this game a 5, not the game itself. It's trying to be a very particular game and it does exceptionally well at being exactly what it wants to be. I just in no way can stand what it wants to be. It just simply isn't for me, no matter how many genuine attempts I make to try and like this kind of thing. I just greatly dislike it. My '5' rating is purely off of my own tastes and doesn't speak poorly about the game itself. Despite me thinking that the game itself isn't very good. People who like this type of thing, will love this game. You see, it's funny; if you say you dislike this game people get very angry with you. I realized while writing this, I was walking on egg shells. In all blunt honesty... People that like turn base a lot or this style of animation will adore this game. But I couldn't wait to be done with it. I want to give it a 3 or a 4 for how much I dislike this type of art style (even though it was well done) but I still find myself raising it to a 5 because the combat was fun!

Obviously the only reason some one would download this game would be because of umm... Well there's umm... For the same reason that people would get playboy back in the day, you know? For the writing is all. This is not a game, do not get this. Even though we both know that you're going to. You don't come to a game like this thinking it'll be fun. You come to a came like this to umm... Well, anyways. It gets a 0 from me.

You're standing at the end of a meadow. Behind you is safety, your campsite. Maybe friends you've come with, in front of you is an abattoir of creaking moans from swaying wood, warning you, not out of maliciousness, but out of earnest sorrow. They're saying, "Do not come in here." You can't understand what the trees are telling you, but there you stand at the precipice of the thick forest, it's mid day but you can only see whatever is darker than midnight as that tree's grotesque canopy blots out the sun. For there is no warmth or light inside these woods. You haven't even entered and yet, just by peering into the eyes of what you can't see lurking back at you, you find yourself lost. There is no campsite any longer to return to. There were no friends that you came here with. In these woods there has never been safety. You're gone now, there is no returning, and you haven't even crossed the threshold. Needless to say, I gave this a 7 because I liked the atmosphere and tension this game masterfully crafts. It isn't a game for everyone, you have to have patience and be willing to take the time to explore the world. Don't come here if you're looking for a quick paced action packed game. It's about atmosphere and scaring your pajamas right off! You may have to be in the mood to play this game but it's definitely worth trying out. Especially on sale and in the spooky season, which is what I did.

Norm Macdonald once said that taking LSD was a jip. That's because he was good at stretching his drug dollar. He was told at a young age that many years later you would have a flash back and it would be like tripping all over again, but sadly for him 30+ years had passed and... "What a jip that turned out to be." This game is anything but that, a jip that is. I went in with no expectations, heard nothing of it. It shouldn't even be fun. You move from one side of the screen to the other, and press a couple buttons along the way. But I promise you, if you're too wise or to afraid to take psilocybin or LSD (Like I've done far too many times in my past) don't worry about it. Just play The Artful Escape and you will have one of the most incredible visual experiences you've ever had. You won't have a need to take those drugs because you will have escaped them through this magnificent piece of art and received the same experience. This game is proof that gaming is magic. It isn't the most fun you'll ever have, but you'll play it and after giving it 15 minutes the next thing you'll realize is the credits rolling and you're a full decade more mature. You'll look back on you're younger self and have a deep understanding that the reason life has been so good the past 10 years is because you sat down and experienced The Artful Escape.
