It's Assassins' Creed meets GTA, with some Far Cry 3 and Deus Ex thrown in. Although it can't really be compared to anyone of these on their own. The story is rather generic, but that can be forgiven in place of game play. Yes the hacking is simplistic for the most part. But how much more annoying would it be if you got dropped into a mini-game every time you clicked the hack button to empty someone's bank account. The driving seems to be about the same as in other games of this type E.G. Saints Row. Something I've never really gotten the hang of. I expect there's going to be a fair amount of repetitiveness too, but when isn't there in an open-world game like this. I can't comment on any of the technical problems that some seem to be having as I'm working fine at 60+ fps on an i7 with a sing GPU. Although U(don't)play wasn't working last night it didn't stop me loading the game in offline mode. It seems there are a fair number of complaints from people running 32bit OSs that didn't pay attention to the requirements.

Having played for about thirteen hours now, I feel I've played enough to be able to put pen to paper. First up, this is not a Tomb Raider game in the previous sense of the series. There's not a great deal of platform action. Well that's not strictly true, it's just that it's not as demanding in dexterity and timing as the previous games. Neither are the puzzles particularly taxing, I think a few minutes is about the longest any of the tombs have taken me to complete. The combat is okay, although the enemy seem to lack any tactics beyond sitting still or flying down zip lines at you. It's like shooting fish in a barrel on normal difficulty at least (I'm wishing I'd gone for hard now). As for those dreaded quick-time events, they're really not that bad. Most can be completed first time through. Although I thought button mashing/joystick waggling went out with the Amiga (at least my Logitech does macros). Talking of which, I fumbled a few QT events (several times) as I kept forgetting what I'd assigned to which key on my Logitech G13 gamepad. Overall I think Tomb Raider is a great game with a good story line (something I finding to be more and more important to me). Just a shame TressFX doesn't work too well on nVidia GPUs at the moment. In closing; if you're expecting more of the same old Tomb Raider, you're in for disappointment. If you look at this as a new game in isolation, you're likely to love it.

I'm wishing I'd spent my money on Darksiders II instead. This game is just dire. The story is let down by graphics that wouldn't have looked out of place on my original Xbox. Yes, I can set the resolution to 1920 x 1080, but it's obviously still intended to be played on a big screen. Don't get me started on the control system; if I'd wanted to use a gamepad to play a game, I'd have bought it for my 360 instead. You can customize the keyboard controls and even use a mouse (mouse support is just terrible), but all of the on-screen prompts assume you're using a game pad. So you're left either mashing keys until you get the right one, or having to look it up on the cheat-sheet you've probably had to print out to stand any chance of even being able to press the correct button. The camera controls are also extremely annoying. TL;DR - If you want this game, get the console version.

Legends of Pegasus has the potential to be a good game. But from what I've had opportunity to play so far it seems like it's in need of another few months of development and polish. I'm no newb at these sorts of games, but it's missing some of the features we've become accustomed to from games like Civilisation. The graphics are also a far-cry from what I was expecting (they wouldn't be out of place from one of the later X-Com games), especially the planetary construction view. The biggest issue I've had with it so far is the fact that you need an active internet connection to even start a single player game. Which thanks to issues with my Killer 2100 network card meant it took me a couple of days to work out what was affecting it. I've had to resort to using my motherboard's on-board NIC to get the game running. In closing: Don't rule out this game yet, give it several months an hopefully it'll be in better shape.
