The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug2
Oct 15, 2020
These movies are a huge cringe-fest, albeit as far as a terrible series who insults the movies before it goes with clearly just trying to fill their pockets with money, this one was moderately entertaining.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies0

Nobody cares about the dwarves. I understand the premise of choosing a gruff species as the main characters is inherently going to be difficult, but there is so little balance with how they are portrayed, extremely little saving grace. The only character that was done well at all and to my surprise done extraordinarily well was Bilbo Baggins. The main story however, childish, patronizing, and with very little integrity and genuiness. This is in stark contrast to its' predecessors who took an opposite approach. At the end of the day you can tell the motive from Lord of the rings was to create a story in which people can deeply relate and the Hobbit was clearly to make money alone. For this I am deeply insulted, remove from the fact that Martin Freeman put in some incredible work into these films.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey0

Only saving grace of this movie is the incredible acting from Martin Freeman as Bilbo. The writing was bad and the CGI looks more childish and fake than Lord of the rings, its predecessor. This series is a cheap cash grab and massive insult to the legacy of Lord of the rings. Seriously questionable as to why they took the direction they did on this.

It does not get better than this. I watch these movies every year now and there is so much depth in every character that it is easy to follow a different story every time. I have connected with this movie in countless different ways and rarely ever find myself getting through the series without connecting strongly with my emotional side and crying. There is so much being said about life and the suffering we go through. So much humanity can be found in these films it is incredible.

Not as good as Hot Fuzz but with a lot of the same good writing and creativity earning it some well deserved praise. Good movie that I enjoy going back to every now and again with a sense that there may be some bit of social commentary told in a humorous and light tone. Notable as well is that Simon Pegg is an extremely great actor in this as well as in Hot Fuzz especially and I feel as if he may be a bit overlooked for what he really offers.

This movie is an absolute masterpiece. I have seen this movie many times. Every time I rewatch it I am able to uncover more layers of hidden jokes. The way the story is told is creative and interesting, from the transitions to the remarkable facial ranges used in the main actor. This movie frequently takes my number one spot for favorite movie and is very deserving of the spot. It is sad to see that many people don't know it exists or the jokes fly over the heads of the people I show this to, but to someone who can see deeper into what is being said, it is very very entertaining.
