Fry Cry Primal was a massive risk on Ubisoft's part. While the developer's reputation is mediocre and the Far Cry formula is easily picked out, Far Cry Primal takes the best parts of Far Cry's animalistic nature and expands upon it massively. The game is undoubtedly fun, looks beautiful, and is (hopefully) a step towards more unique, innovative, and out-of-the-ordinary settings for games in the future.

Mad Max is a solid open-world game that takes the best parts of car combat, fisticuffs, and the Mad Max mythos and combines into one thing. Although the world seems uninspired, the setting of the wasteland has been beautifully crafted. The car combat and customisation is an important, coherent, and fun element of the game, with the driving and combat blending smoothly in the control scheme. The hand-to-hand combat resembles that of the Batman Arkham games, however it feels heavier and dirtier - just the kind of combat the wasteland would demand. There are also survival elements in the game (such as the need for food, ammunition, and water) that add an extra layer of depth, and give incentive to upgrade bases. Much like Fury Road, if you're in this for the story you're in it for the wrong reasons. It's one downfall in my eyes are the atrocious attempts at Australian accents. But other than that it's a top notch game.

Even though Watch Dogs didn't necessarily live up to the hype, I'm still surprised at how much hate it's actually getting. Straight off the bat, I can tell you first hand that the gameplay is brilliant - both strategic and action packed, tense and fun - and the world that Ubisoft has built is incredibly rich and detailed. Hacking - the main focus of the game - is good fun and the fact that you can essentially hack into anything is brilliant design. In honesty, the only thing that lets this game down is the story. The main story is borderline atrocious. It's just unbelievable and weak and cliched and just straight up boring. That being said, all other aspects of the game bring it up. Seriously, it's like Assassin's Creed and Grand Theft Auto had a baby, and that baby inherited the skill of hacking. A great time.

It's not without its flaws, but Dragon Ball Xenoverse is undoubtedly an extremely fun game and promises hours upon hours of gameplay. Fans of the series won't be disappointed.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is THE game. Going on three years since its release, I'm still finding new things to do, and I've dropped almost 200 hours into this game (and I don't regret it one bit). The world is huge and beautiful, and full of hidden treasures and things to do. There are so many ways to play that you will never replay the game the same way twice. And talking to your friends about it and finding out about their experiences with the game makes for a fun conversation. The game is the perfect fantasy RPG in every way, shape and form and will definitely being going down in the video game Hall of Fame.

Race the Sun is one of those games that come along and hold your attention for hours upon hours, and you have no regrets. The game is beautifully made, with simple yet effective gameplay and graphics. It is a basic game, but it id pulled off well and almost hypnotises you. Such a simple idea was made the greatest it could be. It is fun and challenging without being a rage-quit game. Set out what it meant to do perfectly. I can't flaw this game.

I don't understand everyone's gripes with this game. The game is well made. Very well made. Swinging around the open world is an absolute joy. You can spend hours and hours of this game just swinging around. The movement is something Beenox got perfect for this game. The combat is fun and fluid, and Spider-Man flips around and has witty quips during it, making it feel like Spider-Man. And while it is a bit clunky at times, those times are rare and it is easy to forgive them. There is a huge range of suits that will have an effect on the way you play the game in subtle ways, and they can all be levelled up to boost certain stats so you can select the suit that goes with the way you play. There are a lot of bosses which will make Spider-Man fans go "Hey! I know you!" It is excellent fan service, and each boss is unique and brings back the beloved 'classic boss battle.' Stealth sections are well put together and are more open than the previous game, so you can choose a path you want to take enemies out. It does require some thinking to take out all the enemies without getting caught, and I really like that. My only problems with the game come in the forms of the voice acting and the Hero or Menace system, and that's where it loses two points. The voice acting is sub-standard, and in my opinion doesn't do Spider-Man justice. The Hero or Menace system works like this: by performing heroic actions around the city you will raise your heroic level, which will increase the rate you level up suits, and in turn give a boost to the stats the suit you're wearing, making you a better hero, which is the way you should be. By ignoring side-missions and petty crime your heroic level will go down, until you finally descend into the menace bar. The higher your menace level, the more penalties you are hit with and the harder the in-game task force will try to hunt you down. On paper it sounds pretty cool, but it is executed poorly, and it gets to s stage where it's nigh on impossible to stop all the crimes going on in the city. I understand Beenox added the system to really put you into the hero experience and make you feel like you are the hero, but they just didn't pull it off. Despite these two flaws, the game stands out to me and is undeniably hours upon hours of fun. You definitely won't be disappointed with this game.
