They **** it up in the pursuit of money. "Open world," pulled the weapons so they could sell them as DLC, Koei Tecmo is absolute money grubbing trash, we hate them.

Worst walking simulator ever. Boring "game" with a terrible ending. Is NOT worth the money. I highly recommend people stay far away from this and all of this developer's games.

The encounters have been stepped up in this DLC and require even more tactical planning to succeed. A real step up and since the 3.0 update this game is a masterpiece of design, depth, and accessibility. You'll see a small handful of bad reviews, these are from a few die hards who preferred the cheesable builds of Baldur's Gate, who preferred reloading because the web trap wasn't detected, reload because their fighter got nuked by a spell, pre-buff, pre-buff, pre-buff, and oh, you can rest as much as you like, which means resting all the time. These people are wrong, Baldur's Gate series was great, but Pillars is so much better, there is no contest. If you have any inclination towards this kind of CRPG then buy it and the expansion content, you will not regret it. It is 100% worth full price.

I really like PoE when it launched, a great throw back to genre no longer being serviced like it once was. With the second part of The White March and the 3.0 update I really LOVE Pillars, it has a ton of content now, it is very polished and balanced, it is an amazing game and I recommend all gamers to try it. Also with the user score keep in mind someone went through and review bombed it, before that happened it was at a 9.6. Buy this game, buy the expansions, play them, love them, and then back Pillars of Eternity 2 whenever they announce that project.

Pillars of Eternity is a beautiful game that gives players a great bounty of options in how to play it and a smaller than expected learning curve. The world is rich without becoming stultifying. The lore is built through the descriptions, dialogue, books and even the design of the world itself. As you progress through the game you will feel like you are exploring a real place and interacting with real people. The themes are deep and consistent throughout the game and can cause genuine moments of reflection in the aware gamer. Gameplay works very well, it can feel difficult at first but by paying attention to your stats and abilities you will quickly become efficient at combat and feel a real satisfaction at planning and executing a battle plan against a tough group of enemies. Leveling is rewarding, there is no such thing as grinding, and many of the old school design flaws, like buffing yourself before battle, are gone from this game. You do not have to save scum either, as it is possible to disengage and retreat if a battle is going poorly. The art is great, the design amazing, and the soundtrack easy to listen to. This game is something special and something I would not have expected to see the light of day even two years ago. An expansion is already confirmed and all of us should hope for many more stories and adventure to come from the world of Eora where PoE takes place.
