Churchill was a very complex character, very difficult to deal with like most genius normally are. His strong personality and drive are probably responsible for saving England and the movie is very clear portraying that. The performance is Oscar level by Gary Oldman, but Kristin Scott Thomas is also brilliant, as was the real-life wife. A very emotional movie, carefully directed and powerfully acted, one of my year favorites and a must-see for any History lover!

A movie with Hanks and Streep is already an assurance of at least some class acting, but the movie is much more than that. It managed to live much above their magistral performances. Once again Spielberg chooses the perfect timing for his movie, freedom of speech and real news is so much "in the news" today that it was refreshing to see real life champions. It's a pivotal moment in history and it was directed with such craft that will keep you in a permanent trance of emotions until the end. One of the best movies I've seen from 2017, highly recommended.

Emotional and well acted historical drama of the unbelievable civil rights movement in the US. It shows behind the scenes realpolitik from both sides where you meet President Johnson with mixed feelings. Activism with no violence is, in my opinion, the way to go, and the short appearance of Malcolm X amplifies the success of this approach. A must watch movie for History lovers, it is a slow paced movie but emotionally quite fluid.
