Nidhogg9
Sep 24, 2014
Nidhogg is a very fun game. What it lacks in content it makes up for in mechanics- its fighting system is fast, skill-based, and is very dynamic. Every type of attack has a viable counter, making its combat also rely heavily on deception. The keyboard controls are weak, however it is very fun to play with controllers. Its single player mode is lacking (but still enjoyable), made up of a series of battles with formidable CPU **** really shines in multiplayer, however, as it is a truly fun back-to-basics fighting game that is great to play with friends. The graphics serve the game well, but are certainly not the focus of the game. It would be nice if there were more maps, however.

Dwarf Fortress10

Dwarf Fortress is one of the best game experiences I have ever had. Although the very steep learning curve will turn away many players, and the very basic graphics may dissuade others, players who stick with the game will find an incredibly rewarding experience. Dwarf Fortress offers an incredibly deep, albeit complex world that can be enthralling, infuriating, hilarious, and more. The game has two gameplay modes: -Fortress mode In this mode, the player is initially given 7 dwarves and a wagon-full of supplies, and is tasked with creating a new fortress for their civilization. Beyond that, there are few limitations on what the player can do. One must take into consideration all aspects of dwarven life when planning their fortress- or possibly just ignore the needs of their citizens and build a giant statue out of obsidian that cries lava and shoots minecarts full of rocks at attacking armies from its mouth. Fortress mode is nearly limitless, and the graphics can be altered to your liking by simply installing a tileset or graphics set. -Adventure Mode What it says on the tin. Adventure mode offers a very rougelike experience in an open, randomly generated world (oh also you can generate entire worlds with fleshed-out histories of individuals, civilizations, wars, and more) that is once again very deep. The recent DF2014 update has increased the variety of adventure mode greatly, making it another amazing experience. In adventure mode, for example, one could visit the ruins of a previously lost fortress and loot its remains- or become the lord of nearly anywhere you want. I have barley scratched the surface of what Dwarf Fortress offers. I highly recommend that everyone try this game, even if it take a bit of effort to learn it.

The game seems very intriguing at the beginning of the game, and it seems as if it will gain much more depth later in the game. However, The difficulty curve is steep because of the algorithm used to calculate game scores, which rates games based not on a constant scale but on how they compare to your previous games. This means that in order to maximize a profit as you enter the 32-bit era of the game you must aim to make each subsequent game about 10% better. The game also introduces many new technologies and ideas but does not give you enough time to research them, causing your employees to become overextended because they don't understand what a cowboy is. Overall, the game is promising and looks to be really fun, but its mechanics are a bit repetitive and the way your games are reviewed is awkward and can be very difficult. 5/10 "Has its moments" -Me

Infestation: Survivor Stories (The War Z)0
Dec 18, 2012
This game is a scam. Most of the marketing claims are lies, and the small amount of game left is a greedy money grab at best. The developers are taking advantage of the players and have recently shut down the entire patch notes section of the WarZ forum due to the idea to increase the respawn clock to 4 hours and charge the players real money if they do not want to wait. Not only are the developers being dishonest, they are actually breaking the law by stating in the TOS that you cannot get refunds while using false advertising. Once you get past the illegal cash grab, you find a terrible game that looks suspiciously like it has been thrown together in the time since DayZ became popular. The game is buggy, ugly, incomplete, and (and, at the time of this review) illegal. If you are going to rip off a popular title, at least do it right. Please do not support these lying developers.

Cortex Command9

Cortex Command, even if parts of it are very buggy, is a very fun game that is definitely worth the price. The combat is satisfying and the bunker design is interesting for those who like to build things. Although learning how to control the bots without crushing your head on the ceiling and controlling your troops can be frustrating, the game is still very fun. On the contrary to what others say, the game can have a fair amount of re-playability if you take advantage of all the features and try new things. There is a surprisingly active modding community that creates a large amount of content, from full conversion mods that change movement to faction and weapon packs. In all, I think that this game is easily misunderstood and will not appeal to some people, but others will love it. While the physics and AI could really use improvement, the game is very fun once you get used to it and has its own charm. The graphics style is quite appealing and works very well with the physics and world. I would wholly recommend this game despite its shortcomings.
