The best in the genre so far. Highly replayable for couch coop. The update for new movesets improved gameplay and replayability.

Bad script. Gameplay is essentially old. Technical aspect is expected at this late stage of the PS4, so it's nothing special.

If you enjoy it as it is (instead of comparing with past ff), the game is **** still feels incomplete and rushed.

Purchased on day 1, and can't stop playing whether solo or in 4-player local coop. It pushes you to refine your reflexes and insanely fun at the same time. Difficulty and challenges are not frustrating, and the mechanics are quite easy to adapt to. Had to rate it down to 9 due to a bug which remains unfixed.

A masterpiece in every aspect. Echoing the same observations of those who ACTUALLY played this game (and still playing it), the system is immersive, entertaining and fairly complex but not burdensome; while the combat feels truly solid, diverse, and challenging. The lore, story and characters are well-written and intriguing. Emotionally charged yet mixed with a bit of humor. The graphics, environment design and cinematography are simply stunning. The only real and tangible complaint is that the game makes you feel that you can't wait for a sequel. Other complaints are mostly subjective, such as those coming from fanboys of other games, or kids who can't get over the earlier hack and slash genre. Cheers.

Played this game some time in late 2000. Arguably it has the (or among) best graphics and artwork for the PS1. The story is very intriguing, dark and mature, with a variety of complex characters. As an old gamer in this PS4 era, VS gameplay has more complexity compared to most current gen games. Its battle system is still very much unique, immersive and one's understanding of the gameplay mechanics will define how you will succeed in the game, it's a combination of good reflexes, comprehension, strategy and wit.

9.9 Arguably, one of the best game of its generation. If not for the imperfect story presentation, MGSV TPP would have been the greatest game - without any debate. 1. Game play is so immersive that you can spend more than 200 hours in it. Most of the time, you can control the pacing of the action, with a wide range of methods, weapons, etc to approach every mission - truly a tactical-action sandbox. 2. Graphics are indeed next-gen level, even better than a number of games released in 2017. 3. Controls and movement transitions are smooth and perfect. 4. Mother Base management is a class by itself. 5. Sounds, background music, and "sound track" are great, though I have other subjective preferences for the latter. 6. The choice of conflict zones is very relevant and logical to the cold war era in the 1980s. 7. By itself, the story is deep, dark, and psychological (such as Mission 43), with an intriguing espionage aspect (such as Zero's ruse). However, though story was great, it was not well presented. The insights are not spoon-fed to the player, everything is not revealed in between cutscenes either through dialogues and flashbacks. The player has to manually listen to the cassette tapes, which you'll usually do at a time when it has diminished relevancy to the immediate story. Lastly, that phantom episode should have been ours to experience. Bottom line: this game is a true masterpiece, a near-perfect creation except for the story presentation, and all other issues that players and reviews can come up with are just subjective matters.

Pros: couch coop (forced/optional split screen), character appearance and full class customization, fantasy + dark humor, entertaining dialogues and voice acting, multiple quest consequences, great story, great music, complex battle and game play design, long play time Cons: at normal/classic level (fights begin to be easy mid-game - if you've immersed early on and understand the game mechanics), helmets can't be hidden
