This game has been a huge disappointment. I've been waiting for it for so long after beating Gothic 2... Just to receive a game that overwhelmed it's creators... The world is huge, filled with boring side quests. The fighting is just terrible.. All we have to do is clicking the mouse button...90% of the time we'll end up hitting the opponent as other enemies just stare, until they get positioned close enough to be able to hit us. AI is simply terrible. Main story also wasn't entertaining at all. The music is nice, I must admit, and the graphics are pretty decent as well. The game is glitched like hell but this can be fixed with newest patch, thankfully. But even after that the game is not really enjoyable. Oh, and also, the game expects you to fight with whole cities/camps, which is just amusing because of how poor our enemies' AI is. Overall, it just doesn't have the atmosphere that Gothic 1 and 2 held. I'd maybe enjoy G3 if it had the same mechanics as G2... Pros: -Uh, graphics and music I guess...? -Huge open world... Which looks nice but isn't really interesting to explore. Cons: -Pretty much everything else.

For me this game is a solid 8. It has decent graphics, quite innovative attempt as for fighting and pretty looking open world which is neither too huge nor too small. We start off on the beach, after surviving a shipwreck, in an unknown island. Then we learn about the island and it's problems, and we get pulled into the story... Which is, I must say, so-so. There are too many similarities to Gothic series in the story, so it was a little bother to me. For someone who didn't play Gothic, it shouldn't really be a problem. As I said, the story is linear but we get the possibility to join one of two factions. We don't create our character, and neither we choose it's class. But it's up to us how do we want to develop skill-wise. With each level we earn skill points which we are able to exchange for strength, dexterity or other useful skills like brewing potions or smithing. Overall, it's really a game one can enjoy. Mostly for the gameplay. Side quests aren't really anything special, and main story line isn't all that fun, but it could be worse. I really think the gameplay makes up for it. As I said, fighting is really fun. It's partially about tactics, but mostly about our reflex, dodging and attacking at the right time... The more we boost up one fighting style the more various things we are able to do, like parrying an attack, then doing a counter attack.. or combos. We can play as a mage too, obviously. Overall, I think it's really a good solid RPG. It's all that Gothic 3 should be but wasn't. The game seemed a bit short in my opinion though. Doing everything what was possible, including killing almost every single evil creature on the island, it took me 25 hours to finish the game. Oh, and I won't spoil but the last boss fight should have been better. As for difficulty, I think it's just right. It may seem a bit difficult for some people, but mostly because most of the new games are terribly easy. Pros: -Innovative fighting. -Nice open world. -Decent graphics. Cons: -Story could be better. -Too many things seemed like in Gothic series... I could give many examples but I'll just throw one. A port city to which ships aren't able to come right now. This alone made me think "Again?".

I must admit that Skyrim has disappointed me. It didn't live up to my expectations. This game is an improved version of TES IV: Oblivion. It doesn't really show any innovation. Just improvements... What this game is only good for is exploring. And even if caves and ruins all differ, it still quickly gets repetitive. There's not enough types of opponents. Dragons on the other hand, I must admit, are epicly made. They are innovative.. But other than that... Well, ok, random events, these are fun as well. But besides that, the story and all of the side quests are really boring. I was seriously hoping that they'll make the story really entertaining... They had so many years to work on that. But all they've done is that they have improved few things, and added dragons. Graphic-wise they've done a good job. I really think this game is far too hyped up. Comparing it to oblivion, it just doesn't offer enough of new things. I got bored sooner than I expected. Oh, and also... "Romancing" is the most shallow in the history of games here. And the only purpose of having a wife is that she may start a shop, and give you money every once in a while... Pros: -Huge open world, which is fun to explore... until it gets boring. -Graphics. -Dragons. Cons: -Just doesn't offer a lot of new things, compared to Oblivion. -Boring main story and side quests. -Could use more types of enemies.

Dead Island
8
User ScoreLevardos
Sep 10, 2011
I like zombies a lot, though I can understand people who say that they are over-rated. I mean, there are so many movies and games about zombies, that making a game about zombies will not seem original. But, Dead Island is original. There is no other zombie game with such fantastic melee fighting, and such nice and open world. It is a lot of fun to just explore the island. The plot doesn't seem original, and neither do quests really, but, at least for me, most of them are fun. It's really fun how many survivors are out there, that barricated themselves in huts or wherever. They'll always need our help one way or another. There are many weapons which we can improve, or craft new ones. Similar to Fallout:NV, except that here we use melee weapons most of the time. I didn't play co-op a lot, since as of now I don't have any friends to play with. But as much as I played with random people, I must say that.. I just don't know if there's a bigger sense in playing co-op mode. This game is nothing like L4D. Sure, it may be fun to kill zombies together but you'll never really feel like you're badly needed. Maybe it is tougher later down in the game, I wouldn't know, but so far I've been playing alone and I didn't have bigger problems. Died only few times. The truth is though ,when you play with friends.. every game is be fun. And playing Dead Island together with friends would be fun aswell, methinks. But as for playing with random people... I dunno, I think I'd just recoomend L4D better. The character skills tree seems to be done well. Our opponents' level is matched to ours, but when we join somebody's else game and they have low level... Opponents are matched to the host level and then we can truly see how stronger we became. As for the graphics, the models could be better, but how detailed the world is, the light effects and stuff like that, the views... It all makes the game beautiful. Makes you want sight-seeing. As for characters, there are 4 characters with background stories, explaining their life and why are they on the island... And they aren't bad. Each character has different specialities too. I think that's all I wanted to tell about the game, really. If you're a fan of Fallout/Oblivion and like zombies, you'll love this game. Ps. I just realised I'll add one more thing. Plenty of bad things could be said about the multiplayer but then again there is no other RPG with such well done multiplayer.. It's sorta like playing Fallout or Oblivion with someone. Pros: -Amazing melee fighting system. -Beautiful, open world that just makes you want to explore it. -Gore. -Well done character. Cons: -Plot. -Repetitive quests. -Multiplayer could be done better.

CD Projekt blew us away with this game. It's just simply epic. The graphics are the most beautiful as of now. The storyline is so not linear that beating this game at least twice is a must. Seriously, I don't like comparing games but Bioware should learn from The Witcher 2 how "not linear" game should look like! Since the choices we do and how they affect everything... It's just a masterpiece. The fighting is way improved compared to the first The Witcher game. And more challenging, as well. The game seemed really difficult at first which I enjoyed greatly, and later down it just seemed to get ridiculously easy as I kept leveling up. But honestly, that didn't stop me from enjoying the game. Another "bad" think I must point out is that the game seemed a lot shorter to me than the first The Witcher but maybe it only seems like that since the game is so damn epic. Oh, and all the DLCs that CD Projekt keeps releasing, for free... Not many developers are like that! Plus even the normal box edition is quite rich and has some cool stuff compared to other games in that price range. Pros: -Non linear story. -Beautiful graphics. -Highly replayable. -A lot better fighting compared to the first Witcher game. Cons: -First off seems difficult, then gets really easy. At least at normal difficulty level.

The game is just how good, solid RPG should look like. First off though, a thing that may disappoint someone- you don't create or choose a character. But personally I don't really see this as a bad thing. It has many good sides that the plot benefits from. The game is based on the universum created by Andrzej Sapkowski in The Witcher saga. I think that creating a game on a solid setting was really an amazing idea. Game's action takes place after the story from the books though. I don't want to talk about the details but just the world that we find ourselves in playing this game, as well as the story, is really a masterpiece. The plot is non linear which makes the game even more enjoyable. The Witcher takes a while to beat it so I assure you that you'll have many hours of fun playing it. Something people may not get to like is how the fighting looks. You mostly just click the mouse button at the right times. But on the other hand it is something original and something that one can get used to, really. Pros: -Not linear. -Amazing story. -Long. Cons: -Fighting style that not everyone may enjoy.

It's really a fun indie game. It sort of is a "tower defense" genre but... not really. I know I'm contradicting myself now but there is no other genre I could compare it to. The main purpose here is to save people from zombies. Overall the developers had a really nice idea and I'm sure a person can have few hours of fun playing this game, but then it just gets boring. There is really not much more I can write. Pros: -Original idea for a game. Cons: -Not a kind **** you'll stick around for too long.

It's the worst thing you could spend your money on. This "game" lasts around 20 minutes. It's about us controlling a conciousness **** who is waiting for a girl, which he invited for a dinner. We do such things as drinking wine, eating soup, while we listen to his thoughts. Whatever we do doesn't really matter, ending is always the same. The graphics are poor and the music is annoying. I wouldn't recommend this game even for free. And it's not worth any money. Summary. Pros: -None. Cons: -Everything else.

A really great and scary game. The logical stuff we need to solve isn't too hard, which in my opinion is good since players won't be stuck in the game often, not knowing what to do. Although it happened for me once or twice. The atmosphere is fantastic, and knowing that we aren't able to fight monsters, knowing that the only way is to hide makes it even more amazing. The storyline is good too, with few possible endings. This game is must have for horror fans. The only flaw would be that it's too short, or maybe it only seems so beacause I enjoyed it greatly and would want more of it. The music and sounds are really fitting. I'm giving it a solid 8. It's a really great game but as I've mentioned, it seems short and doesn't have anything that would make me want to come back to it after beating it. I also am not able to say what this game is missing, but it just seems that few things could have been done better. But I would still recommend it to everyone, it's worth your money. Summary. Pros: -Fantastic atmoshpere. -Game that makes your heart beat faster often. -We aren't able to fight monsters, we need to hide from them. -Nerve wrecking by how scary it can be, and I think it's a great plus for a survival horror game. Cons: Too short.

Improved compared to previous Football Managers. The game is really great and enjoyable. Highly addicting. I spend many hours playing this game and I'm still not bored of it. Pretty realistic, although the game may crash sometimes and there are few bugs, though I believe they will be sooner or later most fixed in patches. Many tactical options to choose from, many teams to play as. It's so different to play as a team from lower division from a poor country, than playing as a top premier league team, yet it's never boring, it's always fun. Summary. Pros: -Realistic. -Just what you need if you're a football fan. Cons: -If you never played it, maybe difficult for you at first. -Highly addictive! -Some bugs.

Just another one of many free to play MMOs. I must admit that the game is quite fun. But later down when we reach a higher level it's hard to be strong without buying stuff from item shop for actual real money. This is a huge flaw. Especially while this game is mostly PvP. Several nations constantly fighting for relics which boost up stats, drop rate, or gained experience for every player from a nation. 4 classes to pick from: cleric, rifleman, paladin, warrior. We can't choose a gender, neither we get to choose a race. The world in every nation looks the same. Many quests although some are repetitive. What is annoying is that at higher level we will stop having quests and the only way for leveling up will be killing mobs. And it goes really really slow. I had a good time playing this game for a bit but later down, it simply got boring. It's slightly better than most of other free to play MMOs. Summary. Pros: -Free to play. -Overall, not a bad game. Cons: -Without spending real money for items, quite impossible to be successfull in PvP. -Gets boring after a while. -Hard and monotonous to gain EXP at higher level.

The Sims Medieval

User ScoreLevardos
Mar 26, 2011
This game is sure something different than the other series. And that's what at first disappointed me. I was expecting a normal life simulator in medieval ages, but this game is more like an RPG in which you rule your kingdom. We only control the character(s) which we need for the mission we're doing. We create our "heroes". King/Queen, smith, medic, bard, trader, magician, rogue, knight, priest.. I don't know if I missed any. When we choose which quest/mission we want to do, we then choose one of few available ways we want to accomplish it, and then the hero/heroes we want to use. And we only control them at a time.. It's not really a life simulator anymore. Sure, you can do plenty of activities, even marry someone and have kids. But the only things you pretty much need to look after besides doing the quest you picked, is making sure your sim isn't hungry, and gets enough of sleep. We also have to do two tasks per day, like forging a sword and delivering it to someone, and so on. It affects our sim's mood. The happier our sim is, the higher chance of accomplishing things. That's how it looks. Finishing quests affects our kingdom's culture, defence, and so on. Huge flaw is that we can't build.. Well, not like in previous series. We choose if we want to build a smithy, wizard tower, and what not, but we cannot build walls as in previous The Sims series. We still though, are able to buy things and set them up the way we like to. But it is somewhat annoying that we aren't able to expand our living space. Especially if our sim has babies, and they need to sleep in the same room. Overall, the game is quite enjoyable, but not if you are looking for a life simulator similar to previous series. This is more like an RPG strategy game. The music is okay. But the controls were slightly annoying for first hour of the game, then I simply got used to it. Time for a summary. Pros: -Finally something different. -Fantasy atmosphere just seems fitting for The Sims. -Plenty of quests. -Variety of types of heroes we get to play as. Cons: -It's not really a life simulator anymore. -Camera controls are slightly annoying until we get used to it. -We aren't able to build walls and our own buildings the way we would like them.

This is really an amazing continuation of the first Gothic game. It has pretty much everything what Gothic 1 had plus many improvements. The graphics look better now. Fighting is similar yet got some technical improvements which make it even more enjoyable now. The world is bigger, and the areas we get to explore are really interesting to see. We even get back to the colony from the first Gothic, although much has changed there. What I complained about in my review for Gothic 1, is also fixed here. I mean, side quests. With each chapter we will encounter new side quests. Overall there are many in game. Also, the game is more difficult than Gothic 1, especially if we also have Gothic 2: Night of the Raven expansion. This expansion is really worth the money, because it not only adds whole new world to explore, but also makes the game more difficult. Also, changes and adds stuff to the original world from Gothic 2, too. Gothic 2 + Gothic 2: NOTR expansion make the most awesome RPG ever made in my opinion. The storyline is still linear yet we still make some choices here and there. Yet again we get to pick which faction we join, and this affects the game more than it did in the first Gothic game. Even the NPCs will treat us differently. We get to choose between the monastery of fire magicians, mercenaries, and town militia. Further in the game we advance to higher rank, depending which faction we chose. Story line is still amazing and I don't have much more to say to it. Music is better than in the previous game. Not a single bad word I can say to it. If I was reviewing Gothic 2 alone, I would give it 9, but together with G2: NOTR they make purely epic game which is almost flawless. Sometimes we can encounter some bugs but really rarely. We were able to forge weapons in Gothic 1 but in Gothic 2 now we can learn to forge various types of swords. We are able to learn alchemy and brew potions, too. We even need to create runes as a mage in order to be able to use new spells. Let me do a summary. Pros: -Everything that was in first Gothic 1, plus many fixes and improvements to the game. Cons: -Linear storyline.

When I played it for the first time, I was more disappointed than I thought I will. Spellbound did really bad job on that one.. It is a merely a continuation of previous Gothics. Only two good things that I am able to come up with are the graphics and improved fighting style (Compared to Gothic 3). Improved doesn't mean good though.. Most of opponents we face during the game we won't have any problems with. Character faces not only repeat often, but people all seem the same even when talking to them. I must admit I didn't beat the game, but I've played it for plenty of hours and I must say it is really monotonous.. The quests we do are boring and nothing we never seen.. "Go there, collect this.. kill him/it/them.. bring me that.. find me some of these.. talk to him.." As far as I've seen the storyline, I completely didn't like it. Bringing up some characters from old Gothics is only as much as it relates to previous series. Oh, this, and creatures from Gothic series. The world isn't really interesting to explore at all. We often are forced to visit caves and all of them look a lie and have the same schematics. We enter the cave, do a circle and come out just where we entered, only that we need to jump down. They made exits high so players wouldn't be able to go this way after entering the cave. And in each damn cave it's the same story. The world isn't open anymore, we unlock locations. We don't have NPC as teachers to increase our stats, we just choose what we want to improve after leveling up. Bah! We don't even need a smithy to make a sword. We can forge one standing in the middle of swamp. Same for potions any anything else. Makes the game way too simple, and makes it seem like developers made this game for little kids, for which previous Gothics were too complicated. One thing I also don't understand is that we are able to choose "American" version of colours and textures which make game to seem.. More.. Friendly.. Less.. Dark and evil. This really is ridiculous.. Well.. I played the game for a bit.. I was forcing myself to play it, hoping that it will get more interesting later down, but it didn't. Gothic is one of the greatest games I've ever played. Of course, many years have passed since it was out. But it has something that makes me come back to it once in a while. The storyline is really great. The flaw is that it's linear, but still, it doesn't take much fun away from playing the game. Besides, we still have plenty of choices to do. The most important choice is, which of three camps are we going to join. Each of them has a different "life style". The whole world in game is really nicely done, and even though it is whole open ever since we start to play, various enemies are placed around it so smartly that we won't be able to wander away too far without first making our character stronger. We don't create a character, we start as a weakling who doesn't know much about fighting, magic, or anything that could potentially be useful to him in a prison colony in which the game takes place in. But as we level up, we get learning points, and we develop our character as we want to. What I think is a good solution, is that we are only able to improve our stats by spending these learning points at various teachers (NPCs). Besides normal statistics like strength, dexterity, mana, one-handed weapons, double-handed weapons, bows, crossbows, we also can learn few unique abilities, like skinning animals, stealth, lock picking, and so on. We are only able to use spells later in the game, if we decide to be a mage, but for these we need magic runes which we buy. There are plenty of spells in the game. Variety of NPCs is amazing. We will meet friendly ones during the game, as well as ones that will become our foes. Overall, when you go through places in which there are people around, you will literally feel the in game world living it's own life. You will see NPCs talking to each other, eating, fixing their huts, practicing fighting, collecting rice, and doing many other activities, which just make the in game world seem really.. fluent. The graphics are old. It's an old game after all. But I still think that they are kinda nice in their own way. As I mentioned before, the world of the game is really great. It's neither too big nor too small, and it's fun to explore it, even the places that we don't need to visit. Controls are really simple. We only need to use arrow keys, ctrl, alt, spacebar, numbers from 1-9. We can use the mouse if we wish but I always found it more comfortable to use only keyboard. Fighting is quite enjoyable, especially later down when we increase our fighting skills. I don't have much to say about soundtrack, it seems simple but is really well made. What can throw one off, is that the game is a little bugged.. But there are patches that fix most bugs, and with newest community patch one can play the game without any problems. Another real problem is.. that even if they game is a bit difficult at the beginning, if we do good job on developing our character, all of the chapters later down will be ridiculously easy to play through. Or maybe it only seems so for me, since I've beaten the game plenty of times and I can more or less say I'm an experienced Gothic player. What also can tick someone off is that there are no new side quests later down in the game. Sure, we have plenty of these in the first chapter. But if we do them all, no new side quests come later down, only main quests. Despite it's old date of release, I must say that this game is simply... epic. I personally like the graphics but if you don't, don't let them throw you off. Because besides it, the game is more detailed than most of any newer RPGs. If you are a fan of action RPGs and you never played Gothic, you must try it. I think that's all I have to say. Let me do a quick summary. Pros: -Amazing storyline. -Variety of creatures and NPCs we meet through the game. -Although it could be a little more improved, fighting is really enjoyable. -Open world which just awaits for us to be explored. Huge pro is that it's neither too big nor too little. -Everything else I didn't mention. Cons: -Although the storyline is great, we can't affect it much. -Bugs, though only if we don't patch the game. -Too easy if we do a good job on developing our character through the first chapter.
