Bubsy in: The Purrfect Collection
10
User ScoreKornetti
Nov 1, 2025
WARNING: This review comes from a Bubsy fan, most people don’t like the games so don’t believe in everything i say. Bubsy in the Purrfect Collection…It’s a collection of ALL the bubsy games for modemr platforms and oh boy i always wanted this! Developed by Limited Run Games using their own Carbon Engine and published by Atari since they own all of Accolade’s assets they did a really good job. We have 4 main games here, interviews with some of the creators, music soundtracks, manuals, promotional art, and many more behidn the scenes videos and other goodies, but now onto the games. Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, pretty much the best one, both the Super Nintendo and SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive versions are included, this is a 2D platformer that really isn’t as bad as people say, i think it’s actually good! The game has very nice, colorful graphivs, the music is pretty catchy, in both versions, the level design is…questionable but you can live with it, and controlling bubsy is okay not bad but not great. The game is also very obviously inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog since Bubsy gains speed very quickly, with the only exception is that Bubsy is conpletely linear while Sonic is not. It’s also worth to mention that Bubsy is a one-hit game, sure you have way more lives starting with 9 but it can be really frustrating sometimes, there are also 5 worlds each with 3 levels and their own gimmick, bringing us to a total of 16 levels (if you go by what the box is saying). Next up is Bubsy…II/2 with three versions this time! Super Nintendo, SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive and the Nintendo Game Boy but for now we’ll talk about the home console versions. Busby II is an…interesting title in the franchise, and it completely changes the Bubsy formula, the game is not linear now with fully expanded levels that are now…poorly designed. The game also splits up to the west wing and the east wing with both having 3 floors, eith 1 floor having 5 levels or 6 if you include the boss. Every time on a floor you’re met with select level themes, Egypt which is a very closed down, traditional platformer with a lot of mechanisms, Space with low gravity and rocket segments and also more open, Music land like Band Land from Rayman but…before Rayman, even more open and colorful, we got the plane levels with really bod control and super poorly designed levels where you’ll go around in circles forever until after 15 minutes you suddenly find the exit meanwhile everything can kill you, and then a royal level with a kingdom, these are super short and very not memorable so ehhh, and then there’s the boss battle with the big metal pig that reveals the true villain of the game, you beat him and…oh yeah you beat the game already now…huh, yup on all 6 floors the ending is the same. But now let’d talk about the changes in Bubsy II hub? We have a hit point system 3 hits you die and you find bandages to heal up, more shaky movement and Bubsy just feels worse to control, music aggressively switches in the levels and it’s distracting, and really poor level design…but it’s fine at the end of the day. We also have 2 horrible mini-games that are pre-programmed into doors so you can’t skip them, one is one where for a minute and half you need to launch frogs very slowly inti targets…yup with really bad aiming controls, and the other one is with the armadillo where you need to get marbles while controlling fans that move him around the pipes, if you fail the armadillo falls out, gets ran over and dies-…Welp that’s Bubsy II it’s playable i like it…but damn it can **** ASS. But i did’t forget about the Game Boy version…It has 9 levels, 12 including bosses, horrible plane levels, Egypt if you can even call it that with the horrible graphics, the game runs at like 15 fps, and everything is so zoomed in you don’t where you’re going especially in the BandLand levels even the collection tells you to skip this one!…And they should trll you to skip even the next one… Bubsy In: Fractured Furry Tales which was an exclusive for the Atari Jaguar, published by Atari themselves and developed by Imagitec Design and not Accolade huh, this game is horrible, graphics ****, the levels are so big and one of the wordt designed games ever that you need a map to know where to go especially with all the barriers they added it’s HORRIBLE. And no the soundtrack isn’t good. I hate this one. Next up…Oh yeah Bubsy 3D! It’s really not that bad guys…Sure the graphics might be non-existent, the levels are poorly designed, so much undair moments, horrible tank controls, and super annoying sound effects (SFX) the game is fine, i prefer it than Bubsy II honestly. And you also get Bubsy 3D: Refurbished Edition with updated controls which is really nice and i recommend it playing this way. Now this is it you also have your modern thingies like save states and rewinds, there’s cool exclusive music, art, a japanese version of Bubsy 1 from the Super Nintendo really sweet and yeah 10/10!

50 Cent: Blood on the Sand

We got ourselves a pretty damn good game here, yeah i didn’t expect that either especially after the horrible 50 Cent Bulletproof game. The game developed by SharkFish Studio is basically a Gears of War clone or just a Third-Person Shooter (TPS) if you will. The gunplay is one of the best parts of the game for me, it’s smooth, it’s efficient, there’s a good amount of weapons with their own shtick really cool. The game is not JUST shooting, there are elements like vechicle segments where player 1 drives and controls the car while player 2 shoots from the sentry on top and the game gives pretty good variety. Speaking of multiple players the multiplayer is also really good here, fun to play with a friend! And the online mode it’s just basically Gears of War again. One of the weaker parts tho is the story/plot, based on 50 Cent doing a concert tour around the country, him coming to collect his payment of 15 million but the guy who was meant to give it to you, claims the money was stolen so gives a priceless diamond skull instead from his hidden safe, which gets stolen by DA BADDIES, so 50 cent and his sidekick (Player 2 or bot) goes to recover the skull. And besides the main premise being meh, the whole story twists and is explained just pretty poorly. Now the funky stuff there’s some cool ones like taunts which is just 50 Cent roasting everyone to get a point multiplier, the 50 Cent music with exclusive tracks it’s just straight good. But then we get to the optimisation, GOD the frame rate sometimes drops so much on a scene where there’s a lot of stuff going on or E X P L O S I O N S. The rest is fine besides the bit long loading times. So that’s 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand i think you should try it, it can be actually really good times with it just being a flashy third-person shooter with a bit of N words in it. Overall 7/1

I didn’t love or hate the first volume even as an Atari fan but i can’t say more about this volume than the first one. The engine is the same and that means the same fine emulation, clunky menus and really ugly UI. The selection is a bit better though.

Even as an Atari fan i can’t love this collection, the selection even of titles that were made by Atari is just not here, the menus are really clunky, the emulation is…fine and the whole UI and the collection just looks so ugly. They could have really made it better especially with the price of this which is absurd. But of course some of the games are cool to play on current/new gen hardware. Can’t say anything else about this collection just only play it through the PS Plus catalogue

As a big Atari fan this collection is amazing no doubt, the entire timeline from the arcades to the Atari Lynx and Jaguar is really well documented, going through every era of Atari in such detail that oh boy it’s great. We also have the avaible library of games and i think it’s great! Even if it does miss some more beefy titles, most of those titles have huge copyright stuff going behind it so i understand them not being in the collection. The emulation of these games is also amazing! There are some pretty cool filters and of course saving and loading the games which for some titles is life saving. You also have DLC’s which i own all of them, and not only do the timelines add great value (especially the new Namco DLC) but add a little bunch of games too. There are also remakes of some Atari games with modern graphics and sound but they weren’t created specifically for this collection so yeah. I think there’s also a lot pieces of media that i wouldn’t expect in a collection so that’s great too. And before we get to the worse stuff…The main theme is heavenly. So now the worse stuff not necessarily bad, 1. The videos aka interviews i think there’s too little of them but i respect the time of every atari legend that appeared in these for even one video. 2. This is also the problem with the arcade timeline specifically but there’s a lot of documentation on games that just are kind of worthless like Fatal Run has 3 whole expanding sections i don’t get it. Filtering in the game library is also a bit icky but it’s fine. And yeah that’s all i really have to say about this collection. For an Atari fan like me this is an amazing ride and even for a non-Atari fan I guarantee it’s going to be a great time.

Yup, it’s different but it doesn’t mean it’s bad it’s just again different from the superior home console version, you’ll not have the home console experience or a greater experience with this 3DS version but the gameplay is still pretty good, the audio and cutscene quality is okay for a 3DS. They changed some stuff that i definitely didn’t like removing the hub world or removing a lot of stuff you could do in the home console version. Don’t treat this game like a watered down port because it isn’t, it’s more like an alternate universe or a DLC. So obviously go play the game on PS3/PS4 or Xbox 360/Xbox One, PC, PSVITA whatever just if you really loved the superior version you’ll like this one.

PlayStation Move Ape Escape

I think that most of the hate for this game comes from people that played the other Ape Escape games in their childhoods and,,this is not the Ape Escape i wanted!” Or there are some people simply hating it because it is not a ,,proper” reboot or just because it uses the PlayStation Move which most Americans hate but now to the review and i’m gonna talk about the negatives and positives, first starting with the negatives. The story mode is too short, even for a 20$ dollar game it’s just too short, even though the game is quite tough and you might replay some levels that’s not a lot of content. The hidden monkey placements (there are 2 in each level) are practically impossible to find without a guide (which there is like…one) and the places are so random it’s just pretty dumb. The calibration in this game is very hit-or-miss or basically it works when it wants to which makes it frustrating when there’s a big waves of ape’s incoming. While i like the art style some of these graphics are just too damn simple. There are 3 mingames with 3 stages per each type of minigame. There is one where you steer a kart with an ape in it and not only it’s horrible to control it’s super boring, the other one is freezing the ape’s with your…freeze spray i guess to not fall on the upcoming obstacles also really boring since the ape’s mostly don’t run. While catching the fake Specter’s is a cool concept at the end of each level not only it is poorly executed, it’s piss easy and just straight up boring. Now let’s get to the good stuff: While i’m playing the PL (polish) dubbing of the game the voice acting is great! I absolutely love the stunning anime cutscenes while some scenes might look off or even the artstyle make them kind of ugly it’s super smooth and high-quality. The level design while for the first 1/4 of the game it is really boring then it gets really creative with all of the time eras and enemies, and monkeys everything! There is a lot type of monkeys and especially with how they behave no matter what monkey it is it will always act different than the last one! I very like using the gadgets from the standard slingshot and net to a banana laser and a…monkey vacuum. I think that the end level is absolutely great with the biggest madness but i won’t spoiler that in a non spoiler review ;) There’s the monkeypedia which counts every single monkey you caught there’s like 30 monkeys per page all with unique animations and quotes while there are 37 PAGES. You can record your own line when you catch a monkey through the PlayStation’s Eye cameta microphone…it’s great. I didn’t mention 1 out of the 3 minigames because i actually pretty like this one, it’s a fun time waster you are a sniper monkey and you have only one look at 3 ape’s that you have to shoot within a time frame and amount of bullets. The place is crowded with constantly moving ape’s all over the islands so yeah it’s pretty fun. Anyways that’s really it, everyone please just try it even the frickin’ demo that is on the PlayStation Store. I think it’s a great game it’s not very VERY good or some hidden gem but it’s another well crafted game from our fellow Sony’s Japan Studio.

High on life is PACKED with creativity and just masterpiece humor. Really good graphics wih vibrant visuals, and the world feels just so alive. The voice acting is so good especially Michael Cusack as Knifey, and that brings as to characters they are really memorable and really likeable. Mechanics i really like them, and quirky info about the abbilities or overall the info about characters, item’s they are filled with just good landing jokes. Exploration is really enjoyable too. Each weapon feels good and fun to use. You can never really predict what is going to happen because this game is filled with **** environments are full of detail.Overall the best thing about high on life is it’s sense of humor, it never takes itself too seriously. Also the storyline is really clever and unpredictable. This is a one of a kind game for me this game is 10/10 it’s a MUST PLAY

Sure i really like this game i would even give it a 9 or even 10 but there are 2 main problems: Walking with crash- It's just horrible it feels like you are steering a stick when you slide and jump he lands in place and doesn't keep on running you just don't have any control when you slide jump and various other things that are just annoying How unfinished this game is-Even though this game is SO unfinished with missing sound effects and mostly unused textures sound effects voice lines models a lot still i'm in that group of people that still likes it even because of that now things that i love: the humor it's just funny goofy soundtrack made without any instruments now that's cool and it's GOOD characters nina cortex, the walrus in this one chase level and many others Overall game great, unfinished

Dancestar digital is the game that is worth right now in 2024. it's free, and every pack costs just a dollar. with good selection of songs by artists like: Basement Jaxx, Calvin Harris or Martin Garrix. And with over 800 tracks and over 50 packs (or 10 because of dancestar mix basically random songs from random artists instead of you chossing an artist it costs like 5 dollars per pack) this is a no-brainer. and sure you need also a ps move controller and a camera but you reading this you probably have one already. Motion capturing works most of the time but for me this is doing the most accurate dance moves and having fun than just doing a dance move that he is not doing with the place where does it and aiming for a high score. Overall great game, great value.

Ok what the hell is this game the fact that it was licensed by sony even more just kills me. You play as a mosquito a family hates you tries to kill you in every way and you are **** their blood to survive the winter why you just can't fly to another family it would be so much easier. but to the game controls are really confusing to say atleast they doesn't teach you the controls in any way r1 to fly forward l1 to stop flying and be in place r2 to do a dodge which you are never gonna use and circle to go to a place you need to **** the blood from and about that **** the blood is really tiring you need to spin the right analog stick over and over againto **** the blood but also you gotta make really short brakes to a person not notice you and kill you if they are gonna saw you you are gonna enter battle mode where you need to hit the spots to make them sleepy and exit battle mode collectables you have food that tells some kind of item rate but there are also bonus blood canisters to **** more blood what do you get from that nothing also the price is absurd even for the japansese copy of this game is 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete even on 100%. you can also change the color of your mosquito :D overall ok game really weird
