A Plague Tale: Requiem

A beautiful game, that you'll probably either love or hate, because it has both huge qualities but also some issues. But let me tell you first about its qualities : its story. Although brutal, and as dark as, if not even darker, than its predecessor, Innocence. The character that follow us in this journey are really colorful, and I feel especially that Amicia end Hugo's personal struggles feel even more real : they aren't fighting just against enemies, they are also fighting themselves and their emotions, something that wasn't as present in Innocence. Moreover, the beautiful graphics and the well-designed environments really us feel like Amicia in her quest to save her brother. However, this game isn't as perfect when we come to the gameplay. The game has 3 types of gameplay styles : scripted history moments, enigmas against rats, and infiltration against enemies. And while the enigmas are well designed and creative, the infiltration phases are too conventional, and somewhat rigid, at times enemies are hard to predict, which can make some of this phases too slow. And despite showing us that Amicia struggles against her own hate, there is literally no incentive for us to spare the enemies. A chaos system similar to the one used in the Dishonored system would feel appropriate : here the ending is the same, no matter your actions. Moreover, Innocence had that feeling of weakness that encouraged us to hide, as we were defenseless against the soldiers, a feeling that was driving the game as we progressively got more powerful through the game. Here I feel that we start quite strong, and that we get very strong earlier, which makes me lose that feeling. But all of those small issues did not make this game a painful experience at all. They are just a bit frustrating, but I guess they are somehow inherent to the franchise. In conclusion, A Plague Tale : Requiem is a great game, that you'll enjoy if you can see beyond its small flaws. The story is awesome, with Amicia being one of the best written characters I have ever seen. The music is great. The graphics and environments are beautiful. The gameplay can be frustrating at times, but it is no major problem, as the story continues to push us forward, to discover the fate of Amicia and Hugo.

This game is really great. It is quite simple, as you are just left in a rectangle map with survival as your only goal, but man does this simple concept allow for a fun, smooth gameplay. The weapons synergise very well with the different characters, and have their own feeling. Some characters may be too easy to beat the game with, whereas some characters really are a hard mode, but I'd say you can still enjoy the game with any character, as long as you find the appropriate build. Another thing this game does very well is shopping. Unlike some similar games, items in Brotato feel impactful and a single item can save your run, get your character to another level, or, at the complete opposite, completely ruin it. Definitely recommand this game.

Great FPS, with fast-paced combat where you really feel like the badass demon slayer you're supposed to be. The Glory Kill mechanic allows for a very satisfactory way to kill enemies, while bringing a lot of dynamism to a game that really benefits from it. The game may feel quite short to complete, as you get through in about a dozen hours, but the pace of this game is so well designed that you won't feel these hours passing by. The game hase some defects, as you have so many weapons that cycling through them in the midst of a tough fight where you're surrounded by demons can feel a bit annoying. But the game is still an awesome game that you should try if you like the fast-FPS genre and you're not affraid by gore content.

A cute retro-style indie platformer, just like many other games in this genre. But oh boy does this game feel different. First, let's begin by what really matters : gameplay. This game is really fluid, with quick but still precise movement. The characters are a masterpiece of design, with their own sense of humour, quite absurd yet very effective. The time travel mechanic, with this completely different 16-bit style is a great game mechanic, that allows for exciting challenges. The Metroidvania part where the levels that you got through in a classic left-to-right 2D platformer show much more depth is a great idea, although some may find it a bit repetitive. And finally, the OST. Probably one of my favorites OST, with this 8-bit style music that where most songs ended up on my playlist. The NewGame+ mechanic also allows for some replayability if you really enjoy the game. In conclusion, The Messenger is definitely a great game, and itreally is worth your time.

A pretty cool game, with an interesting twist : the presence of many playable characters is an interesting idea, but often poorly implemented : characters only differ in a few points, and most of them end up feeling just like one another. We thus end up with a mass of characters, instead of a true resistance group. For instance, having group missions, where several characters cooperate to take down Albion would have been a cool addition. We end up losing the strong characters from previous opuses, while the perspectives offered by this new mechanic aren't really used. On the other side, classic Watch Dogs stuff (connected tools, bots, utilization) see a few improvements over Watch Dogs 2, but nothing game-breaking, while the systemic gameplay from Watch Dogs 2 seems completely gone : no more global fights between police and gangs. Moreover, the absurd amount of collectibles will discourage most people to try and get the 100%. The gameplay overall functions pretty well, but lacks the spark that prevent it from feeling quite repetitive at some point. The plot is pretty generic overall, with some interesting characters acts with Skye Larsen. In conclusion, Watch Dogs Legion is an okay game, that isn't unfun to play, but feels like an unaccomplished version of what the Watch Dogs series could have looked like.

The game does what it wants to do. No special mechanic, and rather repetitive, but its short length and fun writing prevent it from becoming a long, boring game. Some points are lacking, as spells kinda feel the same, and the gameplay, even though it is quite basic, works pretty well. You can expect to have a fun afternoon on this game, but probably not more.
