Basically, the greatest show, or piece of media ever made. They'll study this show 2000 years from now, like we study the Odyssey. I say this as objectively as I can, this show is to TV as, say, the Mona Lisa is to painting. This cannot really be argued unless you have some kind of personal vendetta against the concept. There's no way this deserves any less than a 9.8, unless you consider that there's deliberate downvoting by people who don't like some of the vulgarity and crudeness of the concept. This show isn't really even about the mafia. It's about life, and family, itself. The mafia is the stage on which this concept is presented. Nothing has ever or will ever come close. The only people who criticize it probably don't like the toxicity of the main characters, but I think that's the point, the show how bad that mentality is. But given our current culture of sterilization, this is receiving unfair low ratings.

Season 1 may be the greatest piece of standalone media ever made in terms of its presentation, themes, philosophical arrangements, and performances. It's also the only piece of media to ever provide an objective portrayal of anti-social / misanthropic worldviews. Season 2 was awful, with its use of big words, unrealistic language, and casting a comedic actor as a mob boss. Season 3 provided a terrific portrayal of partnership, race relationships, brotherly love, and also had a whopping amount of mystery as well (though the payoff is less than expected). But Season 3, while not as perfect as 1, was way more emotionally charged in terms of the relationship between detectives. Season 1: 10/10 Season 2: 4/10 Season 3: 8.9/10

I actually desperately wanted to love this show. The aesthetic is 9.5/10. If you like the Aliens franchise, this will be right up your alley. The problem is that the showrunners went too far with the weird, convoluted storytelling and the artistic license. There's nothing wrong with complexity, but they went too far. I see some people negging this show as "thinking it's smart." I think that's a fair assessment. This show was and is high concept. But that doesn't mean you have to forgo sensible storytelling. As far as concept and art goes, it may be one of the greatest of all time. But what killed it was its pretentiousness and convoluted nature.

Mostly sterile corporate tap water. Season 1 had some good moments that brought the show up to a 6.5. Season 2 had one good episode, the first one, then immediate departed into unwatchable cringe territory.

Fantastic, fantastic show, if you're into crime drama. There seems to be some nods to True Detective here. If you liked Seasons 1 and 3 of True Detective, this will be your jam. The two main draws of the show are the premise, and the cast. Larry was SPECTACULAR. He deserves an award, but he'll never get it. Jimmy could have been casted better, because the main actor lacks some of his charm and bravado. But overall fantastic from start to finish. Pacing, music, acting, setting, details, all spectacular. Must watch!

Wanted to like it very badly, but it's probably an acquired taste for people who are fans of this actor. This is my only suspicion as to why this gets such high reviews. That's why there are relatively few ratings here, and they're mostly positive. You go into this show either a fan of the actors / premise, or you don't, because within 2-3 episodes, it hits a brick wall in terms of popular appeal. Here's my issue with this show: it's literally devoid of charm. This is probably because of the actors, not just the dreary setting. The writing itself comes off as a wannabe highbrow, but ultimately just is boring, unfunny, and pedantic. But overall, it's void of charm. I know that people are going to say "that's the point of it." But the actors lack compunction. There's nothing there to the performance. You have to have screen presence, and the main actors generally lack it. From what I understand this show was probably done among a friend group and they hired only friends, rather than people who would have made for more compelling TV. It comes off as trying to push the critique of corporate culture to new lengths, but it just feels like this was done before, many times over, better. It felt like a copy of something that we have all seen before. In a way it just felt like a corporate take on a corporate work setting. It's just silly.

Overall, a great show, albeit flawed. Not the greatest of all time, but top ten if only because there's so much crap out there. Obviously, the show has created literal cultural icons, impressive for a show with such humble beginnings. There are some issues though, like the amount of filler, story arcs that go nowhere (Marie's stealing), the use of implausible coincidences to push the story forward, events that require the suspension of disbelief (like how Walt manages to not get caught), issues with the timeline (the whole series takes place in a year + one more year of Walt's disappearance, and Hank recovers from a debilitating gunshot wound in a matter of weeks or months. Better Call Saul picks up the pieces though and makes the universe even better. I'd give this show a 7.9 if I could, but 8 is fine.

The morons calling this show "Marxist" don't seem to understand this show is the product of pure end-stage capitalism. This show has sporadic insanely good visuals, good action, and then is drowned by something that looks like a 13 year old with a camcorder back in 1999 making baby's first movie. I don't care about "muh elves aren't white and don't have long hair," the black elf is the coolest person on the show period. But everything else is bleh. How they gonna have my man whipping chains around like the coolest dude on the planet, flying around like a G, catching arrows and cucking orcs, and then Galadriel in the next shot looks like she has no health insurance and doesn't want to get hurt while swinging a lil plastic sword around? Episode 4, Galadriel does some shuffle karate chop thing and teleports four guards into a prison cell. That was the breaking point for me. It was more entertaining to say "deez nuts" after every line of the show. It made the people watching with me laugh and not fall asleep. This show is literal peak corporate "culture," there's nothing there. Galadriel can apparently teleport up a tower wall, I guess they can't show it cause it's too expensive or whatever despite 1 billion dollarinos thrown at it. CGI looks okay until it's terrible. Like the scenes on the boat, you can practically see the school gymnasium they filmed the "ship" in. Also how does Elrond teleport between the Dwarf kingdom and the old elf's tower, how does that work. And why does the orange light from fire look like someone photoshopped an overlay layer onto the scene. The scenes in Numenor are comical. Such a huge city with 30 extras in each scene. All that an Gal walks away with what, 120 soldiers to take on the orcs? There are some beautiful shots for sure, extremely gorgeous stuff, but then you get scenes with pig-wolves that last all of 20 seconds before they are deleted from memory. I can't even remember any of the character names because I literally just don't care cause they're all boring. I don't even care about the "woke" parts that these alt right incels are whining about. The diverse casting choices are actually the only ones putting in an effort ironically. Everything is reactionary these days, yes the alt right Trump idiots and "we wuz Tolkien purists" conservatives are annoying but so are the people making these shows lazily hoping to just get away with it and shooing all criticism off as the work of incels (which it may or may not be). It's just that there's not much effort going into the writing or planning, the show feels half-finished or something I dunno. I tried SO HARD to like it, I loved the first two episodes and thought people were exaggerating with the hate. Like bro if they took the black elf and made a show about him just going around beating on orcs for 45 minutes I'd watch the **** out of that. Then episode 3, 4 then 5 rolled around. I just can't.
