Incredible storytelling, well written and deep characters, all set in one of the most interesting game worlds ever created. The gameplay is excellent as well.

While it does have a couple of redeeming qualities, they all get buried under a long list of issues and poor design choices. I really wanted to like this game, but after 40 hours I 100% agree with the poor reviews. In short, the game has an interesting world, decent characters and an (on paper) good strategic combat system, that all gets buried under a mountain of issues ranging from development struggles to, poor gameplay design to technical issues on PC. I dont think even a full remake can save this game. The world itself is great; futuristic with unique designs and ideas. The characters, however, are not great, some are okay, while others are just horrible (Vanille). The way they are presented just makes it really hard to relate to them. The story is decent on paper, but how it is told in-game is just confusing and hard to understand. I feel like the story is a reflection of how the game's developers felt working on it: they were lost and hopeless with no clear direction. The pacing of the game is probably the worst part: the first 13 hours are a tutorial with a huge info dumps into the story and characters with "mash X button" gameplay and long straight corridors. I guess it is meant to invest you into the story, but does a poor job of it due to the confusing story-telling. This mind-numbing section leaves players a bad impression of the unique combat system, which does have a few redeeming qualities. The next section, about 13-25 hours in, is probably the best part about the game. It focuses on teaching the paradigm system, giving the player fixed party composition and fights that are designed to introduce the player into the advanced combat mechanics. The levels open up a bit, instead of long straight corridors you sometimes get branching paths and hidden items, but it unnecessarily long, and often you just wait for each section to be over already. The last part of the game, about 26 hours in, is like playing a different game. You get thrown into a huge open area, where 99% of the encounters literally 1-shot your team. This is where the gameplay goes from "I need to think what's a good paradigm for this fight" to ""oh, you didnt have the perfect setup of 6 paradigms and characters for this fight? Too bad, you die". You will die, a lot. This is also where the issues with the combat system begin to show. Basically, every encounter has specific paradigms setups you are supposed to use. If you use the wrong paradigms, you will either A) die instantly B) fight he enemies for 7-10 minutes and win C) fight he enemies for 7-10 minutes, then die instantly to a mechanic that you have no idea about. Since you cannot chance padargims of characters mid-battle and there's a only 6 paradigms setups at a time, this results in gameplay where you basically "need to die" to change to the correct setups, which is not great. In short, instead of playing the game the way you want with the characters you like (the point of any RPG) you have pre-determined setups you are SUPPOSED to use, but no way of knowing what they are beforehand. All these issues regarding the combat system are far too many to list here, but another major issue that stands out is the difficulty curve. The first section of the game is mind-numbingly boring, the second is decently challenging, the third is nuclear difficulty. in the third section, once you near the end of the game you catch up in levels and the fights become doable, but then towards the ending normal mob fights become nuclear difficulty again, unless you have grinded 30 extra hours to max all your characters. Additionally, the difficulty of encounters (regular and boss fights) varies greatly. This may be a relic of the PS3 era of games, but overall it was just painful seeing your player character get 1-shot with no way to resurrect them.

The compelling story sets you on an adventure as Geralt (who quickly became my favourite video game character of all time) across the biggest and most immersive world I have yet come across, filled with excellent characters spread across it's beautiful cities and villages. These characters you come across hand out the most hilarious, sad, at times even bizarre but well-written quests that leave you pondering every decision you have to make. Along your adventure you come across a wide variety of monsters with every monster having their own weaknesses and backstories that you get to discover along your adventures. Every once in a while you come across something so good, you know nothing's going to compare to it. The Witcher 3 is it. Whether you're a hardcore Witcher fan or new to the series like me, The Witcher 3 is worth it. This masterpiece leaves you wanting to explore every nook and cranny of it's marvellous world and after you're done with the 100+ hours of content it offers, it leaves you craving for more.

This game just set the bar exremely high for modern AAA titles, with stunning graphics, a beautiful open world and an engaging story. Add to that genuinely fun and challenging gameplay along with believable characters and supreme attention to detail you've got yourself the most polished and immersive game up to date.

This game is easily on of my all-time favourites. The combat is great, punishing and rewarding at the same time, graphics and animations are the best I have ever seen in a game, the story is good with some LotR characters making appearances and the nemesis system is a great addition. The only downside is the story witch sometimes felt a bit uninspiring. + Graphics + Animations, I though Assassin's Creed had nailed animations and the parkour system, but this game took it a step further + Combat is by far my favourite aspect of the game, the battles with bosses have a really epic feeling, and the nemesis system makes it even better - Story fits the game well, but it didn't quite drag me into it like some other games In short, this game is what Assassins Creed games should be. Climbing up walls of forts inspecting the area and planning your attacks, riding caragors, blowing up masses of orcs, exploring the open areas, taking on a boss and 20 minutes later finding yourself surrounded with orcs and four bosses after you, shooting headshots with the bow in slow motion, everything in the game makes you feel like a bad-ass, while being challeging at the same time. Can't wait for a sequel to this game!

Just finished the game at around 70% completion. Overall a good quality game in the AC series with amazing enviroment, good graphics, likable characters and solid gameplay. Some of the classic down-sides of AC series are still there, but overall the game left a really positive impression. + Graphics and animations are top quality (on GTX 970 never dropped below 60fps on very high/FXAA) + Enviroment detail, London looks beatiful and feels alive + Characters are well-written and feel more alive than ever (I especially liked the characters based on their real-life counterparts) + New mission types and especially racing with the horse carriages is surprisingly fun - Overall lack of polish in many areas. Dead NPCs twitching on the floor or floating around, animations or movement bugging or out of place and once HUD disappearead and I ended up having to reboot the game. These kind of break immersion, but nothing game-breaking - System requirements are high because of the new game engine, and there is still some texture-popping and some silly things such as cloth physics being locked to 30fps, witch you can fix by editing the .ini file) - There are some improvements to the parkour-system, but you still sometimes get frustrated when trying to simply get through a window and you end out launching yourself on top of a tower with the grappling hook If you are a fan of Assassin's Creed games you wont be disappointed, the gameplay is still the same (wether you think it's good or bad) and the story and characters are well-written. London is tons of fun to explore and the main characters are one ofthe best in the series. If only they had polished it properly and got rid of the few bugs, it would be a great game.
