Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 210
Feb 10, 2016
Having just finished this game I will never understand critics, let alone the legions of nitpicks Army Men has. It's not perfect, but it's creative and fun. A real sleeper **** pickup if you remember it's an early PS2 port of an N64 title. Really enjoyed it.

Army Men: Sarge's War7
Jan 19, 2016
Sarge's War divided Army Men fans like the Berlin Wall. I would call this a spoiler alert, but since it was basically advertised all over the game, can't call it much of a spoiler. Essentially every main character save for Sargent Hawk is left dead or MIA, which alone caused much of the fanbase to revolt. To ad to that, Hawk has become a serious, no-nonsense soldier with a grim outlook on life; as opposed to the playful, joke cracking hero we always had before. Environments are dark, dank and forlorn... weapons are metal instead of plastic... the list of changes here is endless. In my honest opinion, story and ascetic changes aside, Sarge's War is only and okay that limps to a 7 due to a great multiplayer. Gameplay feels much less 'fun' than the previous installments, it's a very short game (only about a dozen or so levels), and the soundtrack is almost nonexistent. Not to say it's a bad game, it's one of the better installments Army Men got in the 6th generation of consoles tbh and has its moments. But it's almost purely for the hardest of hardcore Army Men fans and military shooter fans, and even then feels lacking(sans the multiplayer). Also if you grew up with Sarge's Heroes and Air Attack and all those great games, might wanna skip a cut-scene or two. You may end up with some man tears. Or just bawling in general.

Army Men II10
Jan 19, 2016
Possibly the definition of hidden gem. There's a reason this series still has a pretty strong following even 13 years after the bankruptcy of 3DO. Army Men II is about as good as it gets; the perfect combination of an overhead shooter and an RTS. Gameplay and environments are inventive, soundtrack is very solid, graphics are good for 1999. Do yourself a favor and check this thing out, you'll never regret it.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape9
Jan 19, 2016
Rayman 2 might be almost 17 years old, and yet there's not a single 3D platformer on the 3DS that can top it. Lush, colorful visuals create one of the most unique and interesting worlds you'll ever see in a video game. Gameplay is pure platforming/action-adventure bliss at its finest. The camera is a little wonky at times and the controls take a little getting used to, but it hardly takes away from the enjoyment I had with this game. Just remind yourself that you're getting a straight-port of Rayman 2: The Great Escape from the Dreamcast, not a major 3D overhaul like StarFox 64 3D. This is an incredible game, still one of the best platformers ever created, and now happily available on the go.

Star Fox: Assault9
Jan 19, 2016
Literally almost everything about this game is just sick epic, from the gameplay itself to the soundtrack, to the story. Actually surpassed 64 as my favorite StarFox, never once regretted the purchase. The multiplayer is a blast too, you'll have trouble finding shooters with similar level of fun in the multiplayer. Just a great, great game. Well done, Nintendo and Namco.

Army Men: Operation Green9
Jan 19, 2016
One of the most complete feeling overhead shooters on the GBA, Army Men: Operation Green is also by far the best portable Army Men released. Challenging, good level and objective design, smooth graphics, and a surprisingly good soundtrack. Well recommended.

Sonic Unleashed9
Jan 18, 2016
How much you love Sonic Unleashed really just depends on how you approach it. About half or less of the game is blindingly fast speed, half or more is slower paced platforming and beat-em-up combat. Personally, I enjoyed the Werehog stages quite a bit... Not as much as the Hedgehog stages, but if you treat them like what they are, they're actually very fun. The Wii was a system full of great platformers like the SNES of old, and if you're planning on trying one of Sonic's ventures for the system, I'd honestly suggest Unleashed before all. Fun, varied gameplay, great soundtrack, solid graphics, fairly cheap to purchase these days. All around solid game.

Army Men: Toys in Space10

Wonderful overhead shooter with RTS elements. Well worth it if you can get it to work. Challenging, rewarding, and a solid skirmish mode to boot. Great, great gem.

Army Men: Major Malfunction8
Jan 18, 2016
Glitchy with a horrible camera and blocky graphics? Yes. But a surprisingly fun game under all the lack of production value. Army Men: Major Malfunction may be the last decent console game in the Army Men series, even though it's been panned by critics and fans alike. I personally enjoyed this game, though it's not for all. The Tan army is no longer the main enemy (or even mentioned in the game, like anywhere) that said, your enemies are all generic toys you'd see around any kid's room. Transformer-inspired robots, Duplo-inspired 'block-men', karate barbies..... Yeah, welcome to Major Malfunction. While obviously a huge departure for the series, it does make for enemy variety. There is also a much greater emphasis on platforming, forcing you to traverse all the many areas of the 'real world' including the bathroom, the kitchen, the backyard, the shed, and more. This added to enjoyment more than anything to me, as the environments are pretty creative and fun to explore. Don't get me wrong; Major Malfunction is a very, very problematic game. This is possibly the worst camera I have ever come upon in a video game. The thing will randomly change up angles right in the middle of platforming even. The graphics are also quite flat and blocky, and the story (if you can really call it that) consists of text boxes with muffled groans and growls as speech. Action can get a bit repetitive at times too. I kinda liked the music but it was a very limited soundtrack. In the end, I'd give this more of a 7 but it has a low enough rating as it is. Major Malfunction is by no means THAT good ****, but it has redeeming value if you find it cheap. It's a fun little title when approached with the proper expectations. Hope I was helpful.
