Biomutant8
May 27, 2021
I don't understand the critics, who went from full hype to harsh criticism. Weren't these sites and blogs playing this game for weeks now? Doing tons of previews and "what we know" and "what is Biomutant" etc etc? And now that the game is out the game disappoints? I don't get it. Biomutant is a product of love and an ambitious one. It is not a perfect game, it needs a lot of improvement and quality of life updates. But there is a lot to love and enjoy. I haven't seen a single bug or glitch and all the systems and activities are fun. It's repetitive like ANY major open world games out there, but there is a lot of charm and I'm having a blast. I really hope this game sells well and that the devs keep supporting it with patches. The game is not a "No Mans Sky". It's pretty much the same game from the trailers. A fun, charming, cool open world game. I usually am on board with professional reviewers but, in this case, the bad reviews are not fair. The game is good!

Resident Evil Village9

The game is amazing and Capcom deserves the praise. It builds up on the success of RE7 and brings to the table something that will please ANY fan of the horror genre: there is a bit of action, there is a bit of pure horror and gore, there is a bit of psychological horror, fantasy, it's all there. On top of all that, a map and story that unfolds brilliantly as you advance and find more weapons, items, keys etc. The gameplay is tight and a lot of fun. And even though it seems "short", with around 10/12 hours to complete, I honestly feel it's the right amount, especially because you want to jump back as soon as the credits roll. Amazing game, amazing entry to the RE franchise.

It Takes Two9
May 10, 2021
I said this once and I will say it again: Josef Fares is a genius. He just gets better, with every new game. Brothers was mind blowing and A way out an incredible surprise. Now, he takes the coop trademark even further with It takes two. Sat down with my GF to play this game expecting the good old couch coop fun. And we kept getting surprised with how amazing this game is. It's new, it's fresh, it's engaging; never boring, never repetitive, a feast of gorgeous visuals, funny dialogue and mechanics that never allow the game to get old. Ii takes two is that kind of game we don't want to end. It's that good. With every new stage, world, every new secret and Easter egg discovered I was amazed by how creative this game is. It is a love letter to gaming, to nostalgia. At the same time, it is current, it is modern, it reminds us why do we sit down to play a game in the first place. It seems Mr. Fares does not give up on his visions and good for him.

This could have been an amazing sci-fi, 3rd person shooter, with a great story, a touch of horror and a cool alien rabbit hole to dive into. But no, they had to add "souls like ****". Why? It pains me to see how incredible this game could be. But, at least for me, there is SO MUCH stuff against it. First of all, there is no way to save, which means that - on top of the loop mechanic - you always have to start from the 1st stage. Even the souls games allow you to save your progress in that sense. Also, most of the upgrades are temporary (apart from some permanent stuff you collect, like tools). This "roguelite" **** takes away a lot of fun and the sense of progress. I am trying to like and enjoy this game, but it's just not clicking for me. Also, "the true next-gen game"? No way in hell. The game does use the dualsense features, but there are TONS of PS4 games that look way better (Horizon is a perfect example). I know my opinions are going to be unpopular, seeing how much praise this game is getting. I hope Housemarque is willing to hear feedback, though. I am sure there are many people who think the same way. This game needs some sort of save feature so we do get a sense of progress. As of right now, I really would not recommend this game to anyone.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut8
Apr 30, 2021
Although I truly believe "Disco Elysium" is an incredible game, it does walk over a very thin line between groundbreaking and overrated. First of all, DE deserves pretty much all the praise it gets: very innovative CRPG, engaging story and characters, funny/witty dialogue and offers a rabbit hole that is impossible to ignore. It's like an amazing book you just can't put down. There is almost nothing like it, I really could not compare DE to any other game. It's that unique. All that being said, how can such an incredible game be impossible to recommend to anyone? The game has so much cerebral/philosophical texts, dialogues, interactions that 1) Can become extremely tedious sometimes and 2) Extremely alienating. Which, in my honest opinion, kills the hole point. If you try this game with this in mind, knowing exactly what to expect, then DE can be one hell of an experience. For me, personally, an unforgettable tale about a murder, a broken cop and his sidekick (who steals the show half the time). But I really believe some editing would be beneficial to the game. Not much, maybe trim 10%, 15% of exposition and some excessive (useless) dialogue. I know my opinion is going to be very unpopular, but - after sinking more than 50 hours in this game - this is how I really feel about this amazing, incredible, unforgettable, alienating game.

Outriders7

Signed in.. Signed in... Signed in... Signed in.. Signed in... Signed in... Signed in.. Signed in... Signed in... Signed in.. Signed in... Signed in... Outriders is a decent game; it's not the best looter-shoter ever made, but it is pretty competent in that sense. The graphics are OK, same for the sci-fi story, but the gameplay is amazing. The guns and skills feel tight and playing the game, alone or with friends, is a blast. I also appreciate the dev team for not making this a "service game". Per their own interviews, Outriders will be a game with a beginning and an end. The last thing we need is another generic Destiny clone to keep us hooked on a forever grind. All that being said, they SERIOUSLY need to fix the log in/connection issues. I don't remember the last time I logged in without having to restar the game (or the system) a few times. The same for the disconnection errors... it's very frustrating to finally manage to kill a particularly hard boss and get disconnected... :( I almost gave up on this game a few times because of this. But there is a lot of game here, and a lot of heart. Hope they keep fixing and patching it.

Bravely Default II8
Apr 15, 2021
This is a pretty decent JRPG, especially for me who never got to play the original on the NDS. That being said, I had high expectations for this, because it always looked so cool and interesting. I was not disappointed, for sure. There is a LOT of game here, which took me around 80 hours to play all endings and develop almost all jobs and clear all quests. This is your typical JRPG, where a bunch of kids gang up to save the world (the story is not very engaging though, nor is the group of heroes). The gameplay is where BF2 shines. The brave system is very unique and kept things fresh for me all the way; playing around with skills, passive skills and job combos just takes this even further. The combat in this game looks simple but is amazing. Easy to learn, tough to master, where some boss fights can become real puzzles. On the graphics/sound department, the game has some hiccups, I'm afraid. Although the soundtrack is beautiful, the graphics can be quite ugly sometimes... the 3D character models on the cutscenes are atrocious (making this game look iike a PS2 remaster). The 2D art is gorgeous, though. I wish they had removed the 3D models completely, and took a 2D profile approach during dialogues, like Final Fantasy Tactics, for instance. Also, the game needs TONS of quality of life improvement, for example, a button to confirm IF you want to enter a dungeon or town. Also, the constant (long) loading screens. But if you are able to go through these minor issues, Bravely Default 2 does not disappoint. Another GREAT JRPG on the Switch.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim7
Jan 19, 2021
It seems reviewers decided, collectively, to say this game is "the masterpiece nobody is playing". I really believe we need a reality check here. 13 Sentinels is a great game, sure. But I don't think it is this "hidden masterpiece". The graphics are beautiful, what is expected from VW. The characters are charming, the gameplay works (for a 2D point and click game + tactical combat). And the plot... well, the plot is all over the place and eventually gets somewhere (even though it feels it won't get anywhere). On that note. People are praising the game for its "incredible sci-fi plot". I love (good) sci-fi stories. And I'm afraid that is not the case here. Through the exposition of 13 stories, the game keeps adding stuff on top of stuff on top of stuff and giving some files for you to check and try to keep up. I tried to do that at first and gave up. Decided to just finish it and see what that was all about. It's not that the story is bad. It's just... weird and complex for the sake of being weird and complex. I would make a lot of changes and cut a LOT of stuff and I would still have enough material for a surprising plot, which I won't spoil of course. I advise people to check this out, for sure. It's a cool game, especially if you are into VW games. But don't go in expecting 13 Sentinels to be the greatest game ever made. It's not, really.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla8
Jan 5, 2021
This comes from someone who HATED Odyssey and has 180 hours+ (and counting) on Valhalla. Is it the perfect AC game? No it isn't. AC Valhalla has glitches, bugs, repetitive gameplay and a lack of proper closure but these aspects do not prevent this one to be an amazing game. I absolutely LOVED exploring the maps, finding rare items and super cool, smaller quests. The main story is interesting and kept me engaged to the end. The graphics are beautiful and the game runs smoothly on 60fps on the PS5. Eivor is a fantastic character and so is the cast of characters around her/him. Not once I got bored with Valhalla. Odyssey was bloated and boring and endless but I never had this feeling from this one. Hope Ubisoft stays on this track. I have only 2 complaints, though: 1) the game can be buggy sometimes and this has an impact on quests and sidequests (fishing is broken TO THIS DAY, January 05th 2021) which means you cannot finish the fishing quests, as 2 fishes cannot be found. And 2) I did miss a "proper closure", a sense of finishing the game, seeing the credits roll. The game simply "ends" and you start the exploration. I know Ubisoft does not want us to feel the game has ended since this is business and they want to keep expanding it. But the game - and the team behind it - deserves an ending and recognition. All that being said, Assassins Creed Valhalla is amazing and deserves to bem played.

Cyberpunk 20770
Dec 14, 2020
The game is amazing (on PC and next generation consoles). This is inexcusable. CD Projekt Red is an amazing studio and the tough, unpopular decision they should have made was to come clear and say: Cyberpunk 2077 will no longer be a last generation game. People would be crazy mad, but at least they would not be scammed. Or, at least, adapt the price. Sell it at a lower price. I don't know. What I do know is that players made tons of pre-orders without fully knowing what they were getting and this is beyond "hype train" ****. This is something else. It is not fair for someone to buy a game at full price and not be able to enjoy this purchase. Especially during such tough times for the economy of most households. The truth is that Cyberpunk 2077 is a PS4/XONE game that cannot be played on those consoles. So if you purchased the game and do not have a next gen console then f*ck you. This is really not cool. The way the game is running on last gen consoles is beyond ridiculous and I don't think there are enough patches to optimize a game for a hardware that just cannot live up to CDPR standards. Even if they patch it to exhaustion, the PS4/XONE ports will still be a mess. Fans are disappointing with CDPR. And rightfully so.

Empire of Sin4
Dec 3, 2020
It makes me so sad to realize that 'Empire of Sin' - a game that I have been waiting for so long - is bad. I've been following this for a while, checking updates, release dates, gameplay videos etc. Everything sounded and looked so cool! A mix of empire simulator with X-COM tactical gameplay. I'm afraid everything falls apart once you actually start the game. it feels rushed, unpolished, buggy, unbalanced. Like most of its systems either don't make sense or don't work at all. This games needs more work, more time. It should not have been released in this state, because the idea behind it is simply AMAZING. I don't think anyone should get this at full price - specially with all that premium and deluxe editions ****. For anyone that is still curious, my advice would be to wait a while, until it gets patched or at least a discount. The gamer is not worth that full price. Not with so many amazing games being released right now. I do hope they keep supporting it, though. The game has the potential to be incredible.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope5
Nov 23, 2020
I try (I REALLY TRY) to like this anthology so much... :( I know the devs have their heart in the right place when they develop these stories. The problem is, the final product (the game itself) does not live up to it. The first game was boring and uninspired. But I had high hopes for this new chapter, with the whole witch and little US town thing. The game actually starts with a bang, I was excited. And then, pitch black. Ever wondered what's like to play a game and just hear the audio? Well, that's Little Hope for you. 90% I was pretty much just checking my own reflection on the tv, even with the brightness settings on 100%, **** closed, nothing works. Also, the narrative itself is so messy. it's like: 11:59 - oh, **** we are lost and need to get the hell out of this place! 12:00 - we need to investigate these witch trials and understand what happened! It just makes zero sense to me. It feels rushed, filled with plot holes. It was hard for me to get into it, to care about the characters and their dialogues. But it's like a cheesy scary movie and I'm fine with that. The major problem, in my honest opinion, is the brightness settings. Jesus Christ the game is almost unplayable sometimes. Oh, and from time to time, the characters don'r even have their light sources anymore (phones, flashlights) which makes exploration so much better. I have no idea how this was approved. I'm all for a dark, scary atmosphere, but this is plain stupid. Hope the developers keep working on these games, though. Like I said, I really believe they have great ideas. But please, just make it actually scary and playable. I want to be able to watch what I am playing.

Marvel's Avengers5
Oct 1, 2020
Personally, I think the game is much better than people are portraying it. The graphics are nice (although there are graphic issues here and there), the gameplay (although repetitive) can be quite fun and I really enjoyed the short campaign. That being said, I think this game is a missed opportunity. Had Crystal Dynamics made a full, expansive, engaging experience (like Tomb Raider), this game would be fantastic. They could even add DLC and expand the game in the future! When it comes to the Avengers, we would never get enough of it. But no. Instead, they decided to transform this game in a 'service game', in the molds of Anthem, Destiny etc, making what would be a fantastic single-player game into multiplayer ****. Once you beat the story you access a never ending loop of grinding and predatory microtransactions. And this is quite sad, to be honest. This was supposed to be an amazing super-hero game, like Batman or Spiderman. But now, it's a cash-grab clone that preys on the player base. This game will be dead soon. And will not be remembered as "another example of an amazing hero game", but "that cash-grab avengers game". Greed has outspoken art and entertainment. What a missed opportunity.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition7
Sep 8, 2020
The game is great, the remaster is beautiful and offers tons of nostalgia to keep you going. Back in the day, I was never able to play this with other people, due to the peripherals/limitation. So the single player experience wasn't that great. Now, with the remaster, we can finally play this as was intended: with other people. But here is the catch (and the problem) in my opinion: Square-Enix decided to cut couch co-op, which would be perfect for so many people, who would love to sit down with their friends or SO to play this. But, in a move that I can only read as a cash-grab, they force people to buy many versions of the same game, since it'll only be online multiplayer. What will happen, in the future, when nobody is playing anymore? Or when they shut down the servers. The game will be single player only? LOTS of content are extremely unfriendly to a single player, and they know that. I think that was a pretty shady move and lots of people are unhappy - and rightfully so. Hope SE addresses this in future patches. On that note... THE HORRIBLE LOADING SCREENS, Jesus Christ. It makes no sense that a GC game takes this time to load on current generation consoles. Leave the town, load. Walk and activate a cutscene, load. Leave the cutscene, load. Load, load, load, load. 15 to 20 seconds per load makes it a CHORE to travel and play. This is unforgivable in my honest opinion. All that being said, the game is beautiful, heartwarming and should be played. Just hope SE treats their fans with a little more love.

Ghost of Tsushima9
Aug 12, 2020
Is it "Assassins Creed Japan"? Yeah, it is. But with 100% more soul and 0% ****. This is a massive open world game, with a ridiculous amount of things to do, from great side quests to story quests, to finding collectibles, writing poems or even stopping just to check the environment on photo mode. I probably 'wasted' a couple hours just to take amazing pictures. On top of that an AMAZING, tight, solid, samurai gameplay. Playing as Jin is a blast, either as a stealthy ninja or a proud samurai. Killing the enemies never gets old, quite the opposite; the game keeps presenting us with stylish, gory finishing blows that almost paint the screen red. It's a great samurai game that looks like a great samurai movie. I've been tired of open world games for a while. Could not finish AC Odyssey, barely finished Days Gone. But Ghost? Could not put it down. I cared about those characters, their stories of vengeance and honor; I wanted to push forward, to clear enemy compounds or to just find another cool piece of vanity gear. Ghost of Tsushima gave me unforgettable 45+ hours of fun. And when I finally put it down, I was mesmerized, captivated but that amazing story that I got to be part of. A beautiful, almost perfect swan song for the Playstation 4.

The Last of Us Part II10
Jul 1, 2020
This is a masterpiece, just like the first game. I refuse to even try to understand all this hate. There is nothing, NOTHING to hate about this game. Everything remains rock solid: the tight gameplay, the setting, the tone, the characters we have grown to love over the years. The second chapter in Ellie's story just develops that world even further, adding more depth and complexity to an already very complex world and story. Say what you want, this is an extremely provocative game, about which no one will be able to remain indifferent to. It never leaves you in your comfort zone, it´s always messing with your feelings, ideas, certainties, truths. Over 30 hours + I felt an immense range of sensations: anger, sadness, joy at the little things in a collapsing world, frustration, confusion. Until a beautiful, poetic and heartbreaking conclusion, in the best Last of Us style. If you have finished and TRULY hated that game, ok, it's your right to hate it. If you haven't even finished this story and decided to just board the hate train, I invite you to expand your horizons, try to dive into this story as it was conceived and accept - even if you don't agree - all the subversive choices in the script. Last of Us 2 is not a game, it is a life experience.

I regret getting this game at full price; but now that I have, let me share some thoughts. This is not a bad game; it has tons of potential. Thing is, it's not ready for release yet. The game is riddled with bugs and glitches; from game crashing bugs, to frozen commands, to items that can be duplicated at each reload etc. Just to give a recent example: after the last patch, the game now offers a "Dev Menu" in the options while the screen is filled with tech information - which should not be there. Also, it urges some quality of life improvements. Everything feels rushed and unpolished. Also, the difficulty right now is extremely unbalanced (and there is no option to change it). The enemy's 50% mean 80%, while the player's mean 30%. It can get very frustrating; reloading fights just to get better rng. All that being said, the setting is cool, so is the cast of characters. The idea of a frozen world where a bunch of people, who could actually be fighting themselves, need to save a scientist works for me. I love the art style, the mood, the soundtrack. It is a cool game, it´s just kind of broken right now. Hope the keep patching it and supporting it. I look forward to coming back to it. Right now, at least for me, it is unplayable.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV9
Apr 1, 2020
I've been playing ROTK games since the 90s. And not all of them are good. 4, 9 and 11, by far, are my favorite games. And for AGES I've been waiting for another ROTK game similar to those ones. 14 is the one. Although a little simplistic, in terms of mechanics, I would say this is the most friendly game in the series for a newcomer. It's total pick up and play. Instead of managing officers, like previous entries, this time you manage your Empire as a whole, and this is so much fun. Even if you have never played any previous game, you just need a couple of hours to 'get' this game. And sooner than later you'll be managing cities, governors, policies, armies, invasions and some politics, just like the great games of the past. There is almost no micro-management, though. Provided you pick some people to carry away your orders, your Force will thrive (or perish) on its own. But you do have to think ahead, plan, understand your surrounding threats and expand with care and attention. I just can't put this game down. If you are a fan of the series - and love games like IV, IX and XI - trust me: you´ll LOVE Romance XIV. If you are a fan of RTS strategy games but are afraid of being overwhelmed with menus and options, trust me, you´ll find this a perfect balance between casual and hardcore. Congrats, KOEI TECMO, you have finally given me the ROTK game I've been dreaming about for years.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics7
Feb 28, 2020
Critics (both professional and users) seem to consider this a bad game. It is not. Now, is it the best RPG/tactics game out there? No it isn't. This game follows the events of the 1st season of the Netflix show and very poorly - I'll agree - converts the show into a tactics, similar to FF Tactics, The basics are there: tons of maps/stages, jobs to develop, characters we know and love and a story that will make ZERO sense to someone who did not watch the show. The combat is very simple, very basic but it gets the job done. And, although they do provide a considerable roster of heroes, I picked the 'famous ones' (Deet, Rian, Breat etc) and pretty much cleared the game with the same team - just making sure I had a tank, some healers/buffers etc. The game is not hard but it's not easy by all means. Actually, some stages can be pretty challenging. I had a lot of fun with this game and will eventually beat it again for the platinum trophy. If you are into this kind of game, my suggestion is wait for a sale and pick it up. It's pretty decent, especially if you like Dark Crystal.

Death Stranding5
Dec 30, 2019
Conceptually, I think this is a great game. I GET it. I appreciate and enjoy the idea behind it. And the mysterious story, told through amazing cutscenes, gets you hooked, like a good/weird sci-fi show. Now, to the actual PLAYING of the game. This is where DS lost me, i'm afraid. After hours and hours of walking, doing fetch quests and dealing with all sorts of frustrations on the way (corrosive rain, ghosts, enemies, terrain, letting stuff drop in the water, the constant screeching of the baby etc), I just could not take it anymore. I was tired, the game felt like a job, a chore and not in a good way. I was not enjoying it one bit. It just became a boring, frustrating, exhausting experience. Also, I do believe the game is overrated. Is it different? Yes, no question about it. Is it a 'genre defining' game, something that will forever change the industry? Absolutely not. It's another niche game; some people will love it, some people will hate it - and probably for the right reasons. I was curious, I gave it a try and realized it was not for me.

Arise: A Simple Story3
Dec 14, 2019
This is one gorgeous, haunting, little indie game. The setting is beautiful, almost dreamlike. The soundtrack is perfection. Every little thing about this game screams love. It's sad, though, that it offers one of the WORST, most broken platforming I've seen in years. Although Arise is a beautiful game to LOOK AT, it is a CHORE to play. I was actually sad to be mad and frustrated at this game; but, after you fall in the same pit over and over and over again it becomes difficult not to hate it. It just seems to be poorly made, rushed, unpolished. There is no fun in falling, dying, missing jumps because of bad game design. At the end, I know they wanted to give me a strong story but I'm afraid I could not enjoy it, I was hating this game so much. I just wanted to get it one and move on. It is a shame that such a beautiful game is a pain to play. I simply had no desire to find the collectibles, I was just happy it was over. Art direction and soundtrack 10. Gameplay design 0.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order8
Dec 3, 2019
I believe this is the best Star Wars game in years, decades. It's fast, fluid, exciting, great combat, amazing visuals, gorgeous settings throughout different planets. Additionally, there is a pretty decent story to chase, filled with secrets and some cool lore (which, supposedly is canon). Everything works: the souls-like vibe, the jedi combat, the GIGANTIC maps filled with little secrets to explore and shortcuts to discover. The hero is likable, as well as the other characters - the little droid bd is a super cool companion (and an extremely helpful one). This is a SOLID game, no question about it. All that being said, there are some baffling issues that I cannot believe were not addressed, during the development. The main one, for me, is the lack of a fast travel option betweeen meditation spots. That makes returning to your ship a MAJOR CHORE, when you are barely making through maps that are complete vertical labyrinths. Additionally, there are some hiccups and stuttering and frame drops that don't hurt the experience but cannot be unnoticed. The game is awesome, there are breathtaking sequences that remind me of games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider - as well as God of War and Shadow of the Colossus. Finally EA did something good. FINALLY.

GreedFall8
Nov 26, 2019
I wish I could give this game a solid 7.5. Since I can't, 8 is fine. Is this the best RPG ever made? No. Is it the most polished game ever made? Also no. But it delivers a very complete western RPG that will please any fan who enjoyed games like Dragon Age, The Witcher etc. There is a lot to see, to explore, companions to find, multiple quests, side quests, missions, tons of loot and upgrade, a very enjoyable gameplay and a somewhat obnoxious skill tree that can be a pain but does not hurt the game too much. Although the cutscenes and animations can be a bit ugly sometimes, the environment are absolutely gorgeous. And for the 35+ hours it took me to finish everything (all quests and side objectives) I did not find any bug or hiccup that made me dislike the game; it never got boring, apart from some repetitive objectives here and there and some unnecessary back tracking. Any RPG fan should give this one a try, for real.

ReadySet Heroes0
Oct 28, 2019
I wasn't expecting much, but holy ****. This is a bare bones game that offers 2 game modes basically (local and online) where you traverse random dungeons getting random loot until a final brawl at the end. The graphics are cute (like a good looking mobile game) and the gameplay is very basic: one button to attack, one for magic and another to dodge. But things get old VERY fast. I was bored after playing it for 15 minutes. Nothing is explained, you don't know if the gems you earn are just points, currency or something to increase the atributes; the gameplay is clunky (most of the time you are damaged because of the animations). It all just seems poorly made, rushed, extremely unpolished. At this state, this game should be free and they could try to earn money by selling skins etc. Also, matchmaking does not work. It's either broken or nobody is playing. It won't find any matches. So, if you don't have someone to play with you through couch co-op don't even bother. Wait for when Sony releases this game as a free PS Plus game (which they will, very soon). Also, they need to add more (free) content to this game, otherwise it will be dead by the end of this month. Has (some) potential. But, as it is, this game is a no no. They keep patching it but it seems nothing changes. Nobody is playing it, gameplay feels broken sometimes, sound bugs, movement bugs. Unless this game gets a major overhaul - which it won't - nobody should be playing this.

This is the King of Couch-Coop Games, hands down. Overcooked 1 was amazing, Overcooked 2 is perfection. A great game to play with your SO or as a party game (not as much fun alone, though). The additional content -both free and paid dlc- are all fantastic and this is clearly a product of love, from great developers and I really hope they keep supporting the game with more content; or Overcooked 3.

Resident Evil meets Alan Wake meets Creepypasta. Pretty solid 3rs person shooter, with great graphics, story and gameplay. I put several hours and never got bored. Challenging and confusing -at times- Control was never boring. Fans of creepypasta will have a blast. I have one MAJOR flaw to point out though: Control has the WORST game map I've ever seen in a videogame. The place is already incredibly confusing to navigate, but using the game map to find a place to go is nearly impossible. Better use the direction signs in-game. Great game overall.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order6
Sep 13, 2019
A Marvel beat-em-up is always a fun game to play, either alone or with friends. This one has a nice roster of heroes, some cool, memorable moments and offers very simple gameplay mechanics. The graphics, sound and effects are well done (apart from the occasional camera hiccup) and, overall, it's a pretty decent game for any switch owner. That being said, I think MUA3 is a pretty boring game... everything gets old, very fast. Half way through the game I just wanted to clear it and se the end of the story. It's very repetitive and basically you fight through endless corridors of enemies with a boss at the end. The settings change a little, but you have a feeling that you are never doing anything new. It's a fun game. Good, not great.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan5
Sep 4, 2019
Pretty mediocre game that does not live to the hype, I'm afraid. I absolutely love 'Until Dawn' and 'Rush of Blood' is, by far, the best VR game in my honest opinion. The sound, graphics and overall direction, in 'Man of Medan', is absolutely fantastic. The game has atmosphere, the characters look real (though they can be very annoying). The thing is... the game is not scary. Like AT ALL. Besides a few jump scares, here and there, the game is basically about exploring some corridors while looking for collectibles, making dialogue decisions and pressing the right buttons during QTEs. I thought there was going to be a big twist or that the game would get scary eventually. Never happened. It's fun, sure, but gets dull really quick. Hope they know what they are doing and that we'll be able to appreciate 'Man of Medan' once the whole anthology has been delivered (if they finish it, that is).

I always wanted to play BDO since that character creation tool went viral. It took years until they released it for the PS4; and of course I had to check it out. It's not that I didn't like it. I think the problem is that I just don't have patience for MMOs anymore. Played (and loved) A Realm Reborn for years and it's sad to realize I just can't stand that mindset anymore. The endless cycle, the grind, the farms, the toxicity. That being said, I don't thing this is a great port... the game runs poorly. Half the time the NPCs don't even load. The story and quest system seem extremely bland, boring, repetitive. And the combat is not as fun as I thought it would be; it can actually be a little confusing. On top of that, this is an INCREDIBLY overwhelming game that does not take its time to teach you the basics. It's basically create a character and try to figure out by yourself the countless systems and things to do (and how to do them). Also, this is a very predatory p2w game. There is not a subscription fee, but there is a cash store that is meant to milk its playerbase dry. If you have time to invest in this kind, I feel that BD can be a lot of fun. if you (like me) prefer a more casual, fun, chill, gaming session, than seer clear from this one. It's either put in hours and hours and hours to get somewhere or don't even try. I regret buying BD. At least I got the cheap version.

Sky: Children of the Light1
Jul 22, 2019
Journey is one of my all time favorite games. So I was extremely excited to play SKY. Once I realized I could not stand the game for a few minutes - while playing the beta - I knew something was wrong. The concept is amazing, magical, beautiful, haunting. And the art, music, all that deep, dreamlike atmosphere thatgamecompany is so good at; it's all there. But the execution is not good, I'm afraid. It's clunky as hell to play on a small, mobile device. This game should be played in full glory, on a big TV, with all the sound and space it needs. Also, using a controller. Downloaded SKY and could only play for 10 minutes. Look forward to playing this on consoles, though.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar8
Jul 15, 2019
I am sad to give this game a low score, because Battle Chasers is not a bad game; actually it could have been (could be if patched) a GREAT game. Almost everything works for me: the artwork, the characters, the loot/craft system, the turn based gameplay, the simple flow of the exploration, there are so, so many good things about this game. It's a shame that a small detail throws all this out the window. The major problem with Battle Chasers is progression. Up to level 12/13 everything works just fine. You get levels, better loot, new skills, all is fine and well and you are having a good time. Then... there is a sudden difficulty spike, where the next dungeon and most of the enemies are 2 or 3 levels above you and can pretty much one-shot your characters - if you don't have nice stuff equipped. But you could grind for more levels, right? isn't that the point? Let me tell you this. I'm a 37 y/o gamer. I grew up playing these games. I have had my fair share of grinding through countless RPGs, no problem at all with that. But what Battle Chasers does is not force you into a grind fast; if you have the patience of a monk you can grind. But at the current state of the game, it's just ridiculous. Your characters need around 1500 exp points to level up. And you are fighting enemies that give you 20 exp, 50 exp. If you clear dungeons on a harder difficulty (if you can, that is) you'll get a little more. It's just incredibly frustrating to a point where I saw myself doing absolutely NOTHING for 2 hours and could not move forward with the game because of this invisible wall. Battle Chasers is currently broken. I love, love, the game. And it really pains me to put it down. But I just don't have time to invest in a game with such a broken progression system. It's not worth it. If it gets patched I will come back. Edit: 07/15th I do believe the game was patched and it feels much MUCH more balanced right now. Started from scratch and -although it was never really easy- I did have a better time working my way around the dungeons and quests. The drop rate seems to be higher as well, which makes the experience a little less grindy. Now the game is fun to play; it offers a challenge and the proper tools to overcome it. Finally I can say this is an amazing game that needs to be played.

What Remains of Edith Finch9
May 9, 2019
I am so incredibly thankful this was a PS Plus game this month - otherwise, I'm afraid I would have never played this short, yet haunting, unforgettable experience. WROEF can be considered a "walking simulator", yes, but it does so much more than that. It puts you in the skin of a young protagonist -and many of her family members- while she traverses a strange, almost dreamlike, house investigating what is wrong with the Finch family. Each family member is another piece in the puzzle and their stories are told in a poetic, heartbreaking note. Nothing is there by mistake or coincidence. Each step, through the Finch mansion brings more clarity over the mystery while you unravel its secrets. The setting is gorgeous, the music is beautiful, the writing is touching. This is an amazing game. An introvert game, a secret game, something that will remain in my mind and heart. This is one of the best gaming experiencies I've had in a few years. And it's F R E E right now for PS Plus users!!!

Days Gone7
May 7, 2019
The perfect example **** that "is good, not great". The way I see it, the biggest issue with Days Gone is the weight of being a "PS4 exclusive", which immediately puts it in comparison with masterpieces like God of War, Horizon New Dawn, Last of Us and Uncharted. Days Gone is not even close of being as good as those games. And that is fine. It is a typical, repetitive, open world game with a main quest, side stories, upgrades and leveling up. If this was not a PS4 exclusive I'm pretty sure most of the reviews would describe it as a very decent zombie game. There are some flaws and the occasional glitch; but it gets the job done. The story is mostly interesting -so are the characters and the world they live in- killing zombies is fun, driving in a motorcycle and worrying about damage and fuel gives a post-apocalyptic vibe to exploring the map and the AI -which can be stupid- still offer some challenges (the hordes can be extremely difficult to deal with, especially early on). Let's move on and give Days Gone some space to breathe. Like I said, the game is good, not great. And there is no problem with that.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden9
Apr 15, 2019
This game is a hidden-gem. It is an AMAZING tactical-RPG, similar to games like X-COM. Tough but satisfying, once you get the hang of it. But it's never unfair; the game gives you everything you need to master it: the right skills, weapons, upgrades. And expects you to dedicate some time to learn it: the enemies, how they move, how they behave, their weaknesses. Once the whole picture is clear it just CLICKS and you won't be able to put it down. The setting is super cool, where mutant scavengers fight for survival while searching for clues and answers about the chaotic world they live in. The characters have charm, there is some funny banter here and there, the artwork is beautiful, and each zone brings something new - maybe a new, tough enemy, maybe just some change in the scenery, like dilapidated churches, marinas, graveyards and stores of what once was the civilization. It's an ugly, yet gorgeous game. Hands down, one of the best indie titles I have played in a while.

If I had to pick a word to describe this game it would be FLAWLESS. This game is amazing on its own, but this remake is the definition of what a remake should be. Amazing graphics, tense atmosphere, tight controls and gameplay. I just could not put this game down. It is a must to ANY gamer, not just RE fans out there. Anyone even slightly interested in 3rd person, horror/shooters should give this game a chance. I played it twice (1st and 2nd stories) and had a blast from the first to the last second.

What a glorious, gorgeous mess. Anthem could have been the greatest looter-shooter in the market and another unforgettable experience made by Bioware. It looks amazing and it plays nicely. The hype was immense, the marketing campaign was solid and the final product is yet another example of why we just cannot trust any EA product, anymore. A boring, empty, soulless game, with no story, just a infinite grind through a jungle of bugs. Pun intended. I hope they manage to fix this mess ****, because the potential is there, it's so clear that this game could be amazing. But the truth is, little by little, I won't even bother playing EA games. Maybe this was the last one. But if Anthem is already dead, then so is EA.

Kingdom Hearts III8
Feb 19, 2019
I'm a long time fan of the series, played almost all the games at launch - and played everything once more with the collections. So I was pretty hyped and anxious to play KH3. It's not that I did not like it as much as | thought I would. I really did. But I could not help feeling a sense of disconnection to the series - maybe because it's been so many years since I played KH2 on the PS2. I felt distant to this game I love with all my heart; it was a bittersweet experience, I suppose. Another 'issue' with the game is that it feels... kind of rushed? I feel bad to pick problems, I really wish I could say KH3 is perfect; but it's not. The story is confusing as always (but this is nothing new); the problem is it felt even more confusing and the pace of the game does not help at all. It's like they threw a bunch of disney worlds at us, without a proper narrative between them; just go from planet to planet while piecing out (our trying to) the very confusing and weird story they are telling. But all the rest is pure eye candy. The characters, the gameplay, the special attacks, the funny banter. It's pure KH we all know and love. Maybe all this sense of 'weirdness' is due to the long time this game is being developed. That's how I feel, at least. Kingdom Hearts 3 is a beautiful, amazing, product of love. It's just not THE Kingdom Hearts 3 I was expecting.

Fallout 760
Nov 16, 2018
Bethesda's logic: "oh, so players love the immersion and depth of the single player experience of the Fallout series? Great, let's turn the next one into a online, multiplayer-only experience then!". The way I see it there is a glaring problem with Fallout 76: the engine is not aging well and Bethesda should know better. The games just got worse in my honest opinion. Fallout 3 is a MASTERPIECE. New Vegas is a pretty decent game, almost as good as 3. Fallout 4 I could not even finish, got so bored I just gave up. And now, 76 instead of bringing that unforgettable storytelling (which is a trademark of the series) does something completely different, worse!, something the COMMUNITY does not want. Fallout is not a coop game, sorry. It's not a multiplayer game, with daily/weekly events, with pvp shenanigans, trying to be a half baked mmo. It's about an individual journey, getting lost in a believable world and hooked by an incredible story. Bethesda completely missed the mark. Now they have to deal with the results.

Red Dead Redemption 26
Nov 2, 2018
Before you start throwing rocks, please just hear me out. I am not saying this is a bad, mediocre game. It is not. It has that "Rockstar seal of quality" all over the place. The graphics are gorgeous, the setting is beautiful, the atmosphere feels real, the characters talk and behave as real people. All these elements combined really help create a true western story. Now. To the actual game part. That's the main issue for me. The controls are clunky AF, the pacing is slow and most of the time you feel bored while you travel the place looking for something to do. The character walks as fast as snail when he is not in the wilderness, and most of the time I feel as if I am playing for a couple of hours without getting much done. Then I do a quest or two, get bored and stop playing it. But the main problem in my opinion are the controls... they seem outdated, weird, almost broken sometimes. Everything about the game feels bureaucratic and slow. You never quite know exactly what you are doing most of the time because everything is so poorly explained. At this point, I am playing it to see how this story ends and because RDR 1 is one of my favorite games. This 2nd game seems to be all smoke and mirrors, all hype and not much else. I actually cannot believe this is how I feel about this game. But the truth is that, for me, playing Red Dead Redemption 2 has been a chore.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age9
Oct 29, 2018
This is one AMAZING, unforgettable game. I can't find any issues or problems or anything, actually. Maybe the soundtrack could be better, so there you go: the main problem with Dragon Quest XI is the soundtrack. Because the rest is perfection. It's your typical JRPG; very warmhearted and filled with love and joy, just like Ni no Kuni. The graphics are astounding, it's almost like you are playing a cartoon. There is so much detail, so much love put into this game, it's ridiculous. The gameplay is very old school, turn-based. Simple and fast to master but not necessarily easy, especially later on. The cast of characters is lovely, with distinct personalities (expect from the silent protagonist, who unfortunately is impossible to create any sense of empathy with, since he has zero personality). The game might seem a bit easy during its first hours, but don't let that fool you. The last act of the game can be incredibly hard (almost frustrating) and some level grinding will be necessary. I spent 100 hours in this game and I enjoyed every second of it. Any RPG enthusiast will have a blast with DQXI. It's a no brainer. This game is a must.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider7
Sep 25, 2018
It's a decent adventure game but it is not the best of this trilogy. Actually, I'd say this is the worst of the 3. The first two games were amazing, had great moments and they were a blast to explore; lots of secrets, tombs, challenges, upgrades, great narratives. This third one is just more of the same but it does not taste as good. Campfires to upgrade, locked content until you have a particular gear and/or weapon, exploration, kills, rinse and repeat. It's not bad, it just feels... less inspired. And I also think this new game does not look as good and polished as the first two... it feels kind of rushed to be honest. Some of Lara's facial expressions are atrocious. It's a nice game to have some casual, adventure fun for 15/20 hours. And that's it. Kind of a weird end for the trilogy though... thought they would end it with a bang, and I was left with: ok, thanks I guess. This Lara reboot lacks soul. Look how amazing the Uncharted series is. Those games have jaw dropping moments. This new Tomb Raider series is just about killing, upgrading stuff and finding caves while avoiding some mysterious threat to destroy the world.

Strange Brigade7
Sep 24, 2018
This game is pretty neat and I hope it gets some love and support. I have already put 20 hours and don't feel like putting it down soon - even with all these major releases happening (like Spider-Man and Tomb Raider). Strange Brigade surprised me. I thought it would get repetitive and boring (it can be repetitive, sure), but it's always a lot of fun to return to a map (alone, with friends or with strangers online) to try to find more collectibles and just have some quick, casual fun. The graphics are surprisingly good, the sound is great (I absolutely adore the narrator) and the guns and bombs feels tight and fun to play with; with an expected collection of molotov ****, grenades, pistols, shotguns, machine guns and rifles. But there are flaws, I won't lie. The cast of characters have no development - almost no development at least - and pretty much feel the same. Tried them all and did not feel any difference to be honest. Also, this game was made to play with friends, since it can get pretty crazy sometimes - also to help with puzzles. But, at least for me, I played with strangers online since none of my friends are playing SB right now. And there is a problem with this online matchmaking. See, the game has voice chat, ok, but most of the people don't use it - even in games where this is a must, like Overwatch or Rainbow Six. Imagine if people will turn their voice chats on for Strange Brigade? No, they won't. So, it's odd to play with 3 other strangers who seem to have their own agenda... I want to take my time, check the puzzles, find collectibles, while others just want to rush through it. I seriously think the game needs a simple 'emoticon/words wheel', we could use to say "Over here", "Help", and even "Hello", "Thanks", "Nice", "Bye". Just to make things more amicable. Right now, it's go in and go out. And hope people manage to do something together. I did not enjoy the multiplayer experience for this reason... and most of the time, I returned to the maps alone to search for content and to explore. The game is also pretty bare bones right now. You beat the campaign in a few hours, then there is horde mode and time attack. By then, all weapons are unlocked and fully upgraded. I think they intend to bring more content - since there is a season pass available - but for the price of 30+ dollars it's a pass from me right now. Maybe in the future. But the game is fun. Really.

Octopath Traveler9
Aug 13, 2018
This game is a dream come true. Amazing pixel art, old school turn based combat and a diverse cast of characters with 8 different paths that you can discover at your own pace - or forget completely, should you decide to move forward with just four heroes. It's incredibly fun, addictive and there are hours and hours of content to explore, depending on how much of the game you decide to check. It's an almost perfect JRPG. My only complain would be that the story feels a bit weak, since there is never a "sense of urgency" or a global issue to be addressed. You are just checking what 8 people decide to do with their lives. There is no mission, apart from the dozens of sidequests and individual chapters for you to investigate. But I don't even want to say this is a "bad" thing about the game. It's just a different approach. This is an almost perfect game and that would alone justify the purchase of a Switch.

Mario Tennis Aces7
Jul 10, 2018
Mario Power Tennis, for the GameCube, was one of the best 'party games' I had back in the day, along with Mario Kart etc. We would spend hours having a lot of fun (and drama) with that game. When I saw that Nintendo was bringing Mario Tennis Aces to the Switch I was hoping the game would have that same "feel". And although it can be fun and entertaining, most of the time, I can't shake the impression that this is a very lazy game. I expected more from Nintendo. The game is incredibly simple, in terms of what it offers for that full price: an adventure mode, tournaments (both local singleplayer and online), as well as free play. The roster of characters is incredibly small, there is almost zero customization, almost zero replayability (once you beat the campaign, that is). I mean... after a few hours, you are left with a bare bones tennis game that does not live to the expectations. The old Mario Tennis games were way, way better than this. But it's not a lost cause. The core of the game is awesome. The gameplay is fluid and a lot of fun and matches can be challenging. Nintendo should keep supporting this game - adding more features, more characters. Right now this looks like a third party game, licensed by Nintendo. Not a Nintendo game, with that good old Nintendo quality. The game is good. Not great.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit8
Jun 26, 2018
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit made me believe in the Life is Strange franchise again. I was completely disappointed by Before the Storm (I know it's not DontNod's product, but still). As soon as the (very short) prologue/demo started, with the haunting song Death with Dignity by Sufjan Stevens I just knew LiS was back. It was just time to check it out and confirm. The little, yet adorable, story about Chris tells a tale of loneliness and wonder, of how a kid's mind can be a world of its own, even if the reality around them is sad (and even dysfunctional). I was immediately caring about Chris, and hoping that his story would reach a happy conclusion. I won't spoil anything, of course. There is absolutely NO REASON to skip this. It's short, it's fun, it has the typical Life is Strange gameplay and charm - AND IT'S FREE. So, if you (like me) was madly in love with LiS 1, please do yourself a favor and download CS. You won't regret it, I promise you. By the end, I had a tear in my eye and a mind exploding with ideas and theories. And one certainty: my Life is Strange is back. And it's time to check its next season.

I love the ME franchise. Mass Effect 2 is actually one of the best games I've ever played... and even though I got ME Andromeda on Day 1, I decided to wait as much as possible until it was patched, since it was a very troubled launch. Decided it was time to check it out. Sadly, I could not stand it after a few hours. Call it something else, please. This ugly mess is not Mass Effect. Boring, uninspired, uninteresting, never engaging, never fun, I was getting almost nothing from it. Ok, the combat was kind of fun, but I did not have the patience or interest to go through all the rest to get to it. Gave up. It is a sad thing that Andromeda is ME's swan song. This game is a mess.

Unravel Two8
Jun 11, 2018
It's a great indie game, but it's not as good as the first one, I am not going to lie. There was something magical and so emotional about the first Unravel. This time, with Unravel Two, it's more about puzzle solving and traversing the (short) game with a companion (that can be controlled by a friend, through couch co-op). But don't get me wrong. i absolutely loved it and I celebrate and respect the developer for the messages they want to promote with this little story. We can - and we should - help each other and this has nothing to do with the color of our skin. There is a lot of symbolism and the soundtrack is haunting as ever. I was just expecting a more emotional journey. It felt as if something was missing by the time the credits rolled. In any case, this should be played. It's a great indie game and an unquestionable product of love.

I got this back in the day (for the PS3) but never really had a chance to get into it. Jumped to another game and a little later on I was already on the PS4, so I kind of gave it up. This is a pretty solid beat-em-up/RPG. It's gorgeous to look at and a blast to play (especially on co-op). The cast of characters are varied and play differently too, which is good since it gives an incentive to play it again. It can be tough and very challenging, but the grind it's actually fun, so eventually you overcome that stage/boss which, at first, seemed too hard. Awesome, awesome game. A little pricey, though... I think 50 bucks is a bit high for a remaster. In my opinion, 29 dollars would be ideal. But the PS4 needs this kind of game and ATLUS does give a super polished product. It's worth the investment; there are hours and hours of fun to invest here.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance5
May 9, 2018
Look, I am a reasonable guy. And I started playing this knowing exactly (or close to exactly) what these guys were doing with this game. It's a "medieval walking simulation" that takes the word "simulation" as far and wide as possible. And, yes, I see the potential. I actually enjoyed the first hours (which most of the people seem to agree it's dumb - didn't think they were). I liked Henry, I wanted to see his story and I was getting engaged by it: making him wiser, stronger, wittier and ready to be the hero of his story. But there is simulation and there is PLAIN DUMB. And there is an abyss between those two ideas. While I enjoy the concept of a medieval game that expects me to eat, shower, learn how to read and make my way through a tough life as a survivor, this game just tests our patience to extreme levels. The frustration is just way to high and I don't think it's worth the trouble. It gets so boring and SO frustrating to try to do something that could be so simple. For example: I know EXACTLY what I have to do, like steal some soldier clothes to avoid being noticed by guards. Ok. I know where I have to go. But then, the game forces you into a ridiculous lockpick game that you'll certainly fail many times and if you have the patience to keep loading over and over and over again (because you have no money and lockpicks costs like, I don't know, the equivalent to a car back in the day) you get through it. But no. While you are trying to deal with the lockpick **** you also have to deal with guards that pop out of NOWHERE, making that **** armory look as guarded as the White House or something. What? Then you think: ok, I'll sleep so that I can try this by night but the game says you can't, because "you have no time to lose". Arrgh! This kind of situation is a constant thing in the game, which looks fine, interesting, I actually wanted to see this through. I just don't have the patience so maybe this is just not for me.

Owlboy9
May 4, 2018
I love this game so much, it's hard for me to explain. Part of it is pure nostalgia, sure, but although Owlboy looks like an "old" game, it sure as hell plays as a modern one. There is just so much stuff packed in this brief game. The 10 hours give (challenging) platforming, (sometimes challenging) boss fights, haunting soundtrack, great characters and a story that mixes mystery and charm, with a dash of sweet sadness. All that covered by a gorgeous pixel art and a gameplay mechanic that is part Zelda, part Metroidvania. I don't want to spoil anything, it would not be fair to other players - and especially to the developers, who took almost 10 years to make this game. Owlboy should be played, discovered, felt. it will give you all sorts of reactions; confusion, frustration, surprise, delight, wonderment. By the end of it, I was still trying to wrap my mind around the story and a weird feeling inside me; because I loved Owlboy. But... it also broke my heart. So, with a smile and a tear in my eye I said goodbye to this little indie gem that hopefully more and more people will get to know and love.
