The trailers make “Barbie” look like a fun comedy, and it **** places. A lot of reviews on here mention that the male characters are consistently portrayed as evil, but I think this was done for the purpose of satire. That being said, there are moments where the tone shifts abruptly, and I felt like I was being lectured by a liberal arts college professor. I don’t agree with the ideology being lectured. I think men and women have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages in society, and this movie offers a one-sided commentary on the difficulties of womanhood. I’m fine with satire of patriarchy, because, after all, it’s just a joke. But as soon as the preachiness took over, I found myself checking out.

I think some reviews on this website are overreacting to Phoebe Waller-Bridge. While she does spend too much time providing unfunny comic relief, her character is in no way disrespectful to men. That being said, I have mixed feelings about “Dial of Destiny”. Early in the film, there is a thrilling chase scene that takes place at a parade in New York. It was really cool to see Indy in a 1960’s setting. Unfortunately, the entire second act feels lethargic, since it takes place in the middle of the ocean. I have more thoughts, but I’d either be beating a dead horse with all the reviews already posted, or giving spoilers. Overall, I prefer “Dial of Destiny” over “Crystal Skull”. Whereas that movie was utterly mediocre, there are things to like in this one. But don’t expect it to be as good as the classic trilogy.

When a sequel is half an hour longer than the original, you'd think that there would be more story to justify that runtime. But it largely feels like a repeat in a new setting. If the audience is familiar with what is already established, then the movie should be shorter! The special effects are spectacular, and I went to a 3D showing to be as immersed in them as I could. But there is so much focus on immersion that the plot is stretched thin. Was it really necessary to show the water and forest tribes make repeated attempts at bonding? At least the action sequences are enjoyable. They are also extensive in length, but it felt like a pay-off for sitting through the lethargic second act. One of the deaths, though only shown briefly, was a dismemberment, which was unexpected in a PG-13 movie. "Avatar 2" is technically well-made, but my level of entertainment was inconsistent. James Cameron claims that this movie is just "setting the table" for the "Avatar" installments to come. If we get a more substantial plot next time, let's hope the runtime doesn't stretch even longer.

Movie theaters in Waukesha County, Wisconsin refused to show this movie due to its controversy. If you live in that area, consider yourself lucky. I wouldn't be surprised if the director hadn't played the game, since this adaptation has practically zero resemblance! Collecting pages is something that is never shown or spoken of, in favor of stupid teenagers summoning haunted visions from the internet (subtle message). The jump scares and bad CGI from other garbage horror movies can be found here, plus something else - There is a dream sequence that lasts about five minutes! I couldn't believe that everything I had seen in those five minutes didn't actually happen! The production company is Screen Gems, which after watching this film, sounds like a joke.

Although Metacritic labels this movie as rated R, it is in fact PG-13. You can tell that this was mandated by the studio, rather than the director's choice, since the plot feels like fragments are missing. However, I'm not sure how much better the film would have been with an R rating, since the acting borders on comical, making you forget that you're watching horror! The CGI looks like it was tacked onto the footage, as if done by cheap software. I saw "The Bye Bye Man" in a packed movie theater, but I think it was packed for a different reason than what was intended.

"Hot Pursuit" is a throwaway 80's teen comedy, with an added twist - Jamaican stereotypes! Other than the once-acceptable humor, the only thing worth mentioning about this movie is that it features Ben Stiller in one of his early roles.

Don't be fooled by the title. This is a generic romantic comedy standing on the merit of Beatles songs. Strange camera techniques are occasionally used for no apparent reason, and I assume that the director was going for an indie look. Unfortunately, nothing is done particularly new with the themes or characters, making this feel a whole lot more like a thinly-disguised studio film.

This is the rare type of movie that I couldn't stand watching all the way through. It essentially follows Mariah Carey around in a series of loosely related events. She's one of the most wooden actresses I have ever seen. Due to the confusing direction, I thought this was a biopic at first, but it's actually a vanity piece set in the 80's. The scenes transition with - you guessed it - glitter. Go figure. This movie was released in 2001, and Mariah Carey blamed September 11th for its failure. The real reason is that it's painfully bad.
