Assassin's Creed III Remastered9
Apr 5, 2019
For 40€ players get a fair package with AC III including all its DLCs and pre-order/deluxe bonuses, as well as the full AC:Liberation HD. In addition to that, we finally get more than just a resolution upgrade (as was the case with for example AC:Rogue) in the form of significantly better lighting, reflections and draw distance. Even gameplay was overhauled in very minor, but useful ways, most importantly the horrendous weapon select from the old base game was overhauled and there is a bunch of other stuff as well. Now, this is a Remaster very true to the original and if you didn't like that one, ACIII Remastered won't change that. However, if you liked the game as much as I did, it is a great package to get the game on current consoles with overhauls that were needed to make it as playable nowadays as it was back then. On the other hand, it is still somewhat buggy in a few areas and the mostly stellar new lighting makes visible some more ugly parts from the old game that were more hidden back then (most notably the faces in some cutscenes). AC III marked a turning point for the AC franchise in 2012. For better or worse. Looking back, I now see it as a successful blend of some of the older virtues the Assassin's Creed games had and that are now lost in the newer titles, and some of the improvements that have been made since them.

Assassin's Creed Unity9

Heavily underrated game that improved upon the traditional formula of AC games in so many ways without losing its identity. Because this is at its core what an Assassin's Creed game should look like: No pirates, no Indian tribe story, no Grand Theft Horse Carriages - just grounded urban assassinations and infiltrations. In addition to that we have the best parcour system of the series with great fluidity and animations, a challenging combat system with a huge variety of weapons and great character customization through equipment. Now, they did go too far at some points, for example the skill tree, who is just absolutely unnecessarily restricting your gameplay options, but that's okay. The biggest problem however remains the lack of polish. The game did so much new stuff and improved upon so much on such a large scale, as a result controls can become inaccurate and clumsy (best seen when trying to enter through a window or trapdoor) and bugs still frequently occur. Gladly these are no longer game-breaking as they were on release, who as it seems still unjustifiably taint the user score of this brilliant game here on Metacritic. Performance and framerate are also good, considering the beautiful graphics and scale of ingame Paris. Sadly, many of the improvements made by Unity were reverted for the succeeding entries instead of polishing their rough edges. Because in Unity we have: Co-op missions, great character customization, freely approachable assassination missions, a challenging and interesting combat system, the best parcour system, detective missions and much, much more including minor improvements like not having missions fail instantaneously but instead offering new objectives to make up for failed attempts and more. So, if you like Assassin's Creed, history, or 3rd person action games in general: Buy this game!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links9

Excellent card game for mobile devices that has been given a lot of care to properly fit touchscreen devices and short duels on the go. High production quality with full voice over and great animation make playing this game a joy and it is fairly easy to proceed in the game without ever paying anything as you'll be rewarded constantly with fair amounts of diamonds through quests and special events. Some minor balancing issues, (at rare points) dumb A.I. and other small things lower this impression only slightly. And by the way, I think having a unique cardpool and rules specifically made for this game and meta was the best choice they could make and gives some interesting new deck types to enjoy.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery3

Combining a time limit in which certain events have to be finished with an energy system where you constantly have to wait for it being refilled to fulfill any actions, is the most dreadful thing I have ever come across in a "freemium" game. And sadly, the rest of the game - while showing some promising nuances and Harry Potter-flair are far from exceptional enough to make up for this. Really a wasted opportunity.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt10

"The Witcher 3 is one of the best games I've ever played." "One of the finest RPGs in years." One of the, one of the, one of the? Why always "one of the [...]"?! I am now playing video games for over ten years and The Witcher, too, surely has his weaknesses and bugs, but hell, it IS the best **** videogame I've ever played! Just everything is perfect: From the giant, dense and believable Open World, to the tons of different gameplay mechanics and quest types. And of course: The epic story with all of his truly memorable moments, the genius soundtrack, all the lore - everything is perfect, but no; it's more than that: It manages to make you think about it apart from actually playing. How would it have ended with another decision made? How would I have acted in such a situation? Oh god, the choices.

The thousand ways to complete a part of a mission make this game the best Videogame ever when it comes to pure gameplay, while the Talks between Guards, the look of the city and more make this game the best Videogame ever when it comes to pure atmosphere. Sadly the story is only a 7/10, aswell as the graphics, but the most important (the Gameplay itself) is kinda like a 20/10, which makes me giving this game a 10/10. Last drop of bitterness: The game is too short and waaay to easy (even on hardest grade), exspecially if you try to stealth. The playagainworth is phenomenal: First time=stealthy, but fighting-not every side mission/rune, Second time=stealthy+every mission for complete run, Third time=aggressive or stealthy, but killing many people for different ending and experience, fourth time=nihilistic, stealt, no kill & every side-mission, fifth run=different magics for different experience, etc. I have worked a long time to finally have 90% of all achievments and can just say best gameplay ever. The handle of the weapons and magics are just perfect and after 2 hours you just feel like corvo and use the magic you want in the right way at the right time, to get through a hidden way into the building. Whoa! 10/10 for sure and a must-have for stealth-gamers and fans of Deus Ex or Hitman, but I would say even for aggressive gamers like CoD to for the great feeling of the sword-battle and more.
