This one lived up to the hype! This is by far the most robust Civ game St launch. Not only did they NOT take out a bunch of features so they could charge you for DLC later, they have added an unprecedented number of new features. This may be my all time favorite game. The only negatives that dropped my score slightly (wish I could rate it 9.5): the religious combat system needs to be tweaked or possibly revamped. I miss automating scouts to explore. It's totally fine all the way through the classical period, but it gets rater tedious now that I'm 300 turns in. I also wish the interface was a bit more obvious about what kind of adjancy bonuses I would get. I found myself dropping what I was doing to check the civilopedia quite a bit. Overall the tooltip system needs a little bit more polish.

I decided to return this game after a combined total of about 15 hours single player and multiplayer gameplay. The primary reason: the game engine is watered down garbage. It's the same one used by Star Wars: Battlefront. The gameplay is surprisingly similar SW:BF. When you shoot, it just doesn't feel satisfying. The optimal range feature ends up being very frustrating. I.E. You shoot someone with a support machine gun at 50-100 yards, and it does 10-15 damage. Really? Am I shooting a .22lr at them? I wanted the game to be more like the gameplay of Battlefield 4. The bullet physics seem much more realistic. I feel like they could have pulled that off, but went with the super watered down cartoon-ie feel of SW:BF. The secondary reason: no joystick support. You can fly planes in single player and multiplayer. But this is yet another Battlefield / Battlefront game that gives the middle finger to joysticks. Judging by the complete lack of joystick support for every BF in the past 10 years, I'm certain they will never add support. It's super frustrating to super awkwardly try to fly a plane with the keyboard only and make longing glances at the perfectly functional joystick sitting on your desk.

Graphics: 10/10 Audio:10/10 Star Wars Theme: 10/10 Gameplay: 1/10 Replayability: 1/10 I wish I would have noticed the 24 hour refund policy on EA games before it was too late. Now I have extreme buyer's remorse. This game is just awful. It has about as gameplay depth and replayability as Pac Man.

In the middle of the day on a weekday 3 days after launch and all the servers are busy the game is unplayable. Obviously EA only responds to hits to their pocketbook, please be sure to rate this game 'fairly' on 3rd party retailer sites such as Amazon.

The game suffers from the same problems as the free source mod plus a few more. The animations of weapons swung are off from what is actually connecting. You will see someone pull back to take a swing and take damage the same instance before their swing or thrust displays as connecting. Unlike the free mod, you will get stuck on stationary objects and the movement in the game doesn't compensate for this at all. Plus there is a whole host of bugs including throw-able weapons 'breaking' so they don't won't work anymore. I also experienced the chat system breaking. This isn't really the game or the company's fault, but the game attracts a lot of children who haven't hit puberty yet, so get ready for squeaky voices over the built in voice chat.

This game and especially this DLC / expansion really made the game. Now here is a game company actually trying to entertain people with a quality product instead of mega corporations ripping people off with mediocre at best games that carry on some huge franchise. This expansion adds a whole other dimension to the game: technological progression over time with upgrading several key buildings. I liked everything about this expansion. My only caveat is some of the new structures are a bit gimmicky, but almost all of them are useful. Also, the storyline, if you realize there is a message to gain from it, is quite enlightening. I know most people probably assume the hints at fluoride in the water supply and other things like that are tongue-in-cheek jokes, but believe me, its no joke.

I am rating this game FAIRLY, but 6/10 means I probably won't buy any more Activision products. Another great company corrupted by humongous mega-corporations with all their "focus groups" and "market research". The game itself was unplayable the first 3 days of launch even single player. That is absurd. To make matters worse, the game is a super easy snoozefest up until you fight Diablo, and they made him ridiculously hard to kill. Boy, getting snared, then have diablo instantly teleport to you with no animation and 1 shot is fun?? So thanks for ruining another great franchise, activision / EA.

I am so sad they sold out. I know it makes sense for them financially to just bribe review sites and put tons of money in advertising, but you are estranging millions of fans.

Seeing the HUMONGOUS disparity between what users are rating this game and what critics rate the game CLEARLY exposes the fraud of some game review sites via bribes. I have seen the instances of these bribes for high profile games increase severely over the past few years. I basically agree with Sheprdlovr's review, this game is very poorly put together overall. The graphics look terrible compared to any decent titles in the past few years. I feel robbed of my 60 bucks for this game, with the Star War's mmo being even worse.
