If I could give this game a negative I would. If this released with CBT1 or CBT2 patches, it would have been fine, but the gear and transcendent skill catchup made this game unplayable for PVP. PVE dungeons are bad - just a couple of trash packs and a single boss. Gearing is heavily RNG based, and if you wanna gear for PVP you're already too late. Speaking of PVP there is no equalized BGs like there were in Tera, so expect to get 1 shot immediately if you aren't at 450ilvl or higher. Due to gear also not scaling linearly, this means that advantages are massively compounded as they get higher. Top PVP players are already win trading, and with CMs in the guilds that are guilty of this, we all know nothing is going to be done. There was a lot of potential spoiled by launching with this patch. An earlier patch would have been much better. The fact that they are already trying to boost twitch views by paying streamers post-launch instead of doing it with the launch means they don't have the player count they were hoping for. Game is going to be dead. I wish I just took the refund they offered me a few months ago when they changed it to F2P.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries6
Dec 16, 2019
I came in looking for something like that old MW2/MW2 Mercs gameplay. I got that but what I also got was a shallow husk of the original games. Where is my mech customization? Why am I locked that all the crit slots are hard locked to exact weapon types? The voice acting is flat as hell, and all the textures for the human models looks like they would be perfectly fine in Half Life 2. AI is abysmal. Not only do your squad mates rarely listen, they will often go gung ho into random spots to their deaths. This seems to be how they balance the economy in the game because if your teammates weren't out there completely destroying your mechs, you would have zero issues with cash flow. I see some people also talking about texture pop-in, but how about those enemy pop ins? You know, when you blast that last tank of a wave and a mech spawns basically inside of you and shunts out out of that position? Happened to me several times so far. I guess my tl;dr of this game is that its really close to what most people would have wanted but it falls short on every single front. I'd say lets give it back to Activision to see what they can do, but I think they would destroy it like CoD. 6/10 because I do keep going back to play every now and then, and it scratches that nostalgic itch. If this was a new franchise it would be 3/10.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA8
Jan 2, 2019
I really want to give this game a 10/10, but I cant. As someone who has been playing Ys titles since the release of Ys Origins on the PC, I know you don't play the game for the graphics. Sure, they look a lot better now, but it still looks dated. Otherwise, its your typical Ys game - Amazing combat systems (though too easy even on Inferno if you know how to abuse Flash Guard/Shield to never get hit in battle), loveable characters that start to grow on you, and absolutely pumping sound track. I also like that to get the "True" ending didn't require an obscene amount of work. I hit the reputation required without realizing it. Overall, its a solid game, and **** away 30 hours so far of my life doing a Nightmare first playthrough, and I'm going back for a 100% completion run on Infinity-Inferno mode this weekend.

Gameplay is is very tight and fluid, but in its own way. I have 300+ hours on PS4, and mechanically it feels no different. Yes, it takes some time to get used to with the heavy weapons that punish you horribly for button mashing by animation locking you to your death, but once you get it down, its very rewarding. I can see how it can be precieved as being clunky for new comers (especially with the "Great Sword is easy" ranking it gives you, when its one of the hardest weapons to use properly). After playing with KB/M for a bit, I ended up having to plug in my controller. The game just does not feel suited for KB/M and the inability to turn off mouse acceleration is extremely noticeable and got me killed several times. As for framerates, I can hit stable 60 FPS @ 1440P with Volume Rendering Quality set to off and all other settings at max with a 6600k and a 1070... if I have everything closed in the background. CPU usage frequently hits 70%. With that, Discord, and Chrome running in the background, it can chug every now and then. Overall, its the game I love on the PS4 and I personally havent been hit with all the bugs everyone else are reporting (like the Cutscene crash bug deleting your save). This would be a 9/10 if the port quality was better, so taking 2 points off for that, lack of 21:9 support (It says 3440x1440 in the menu but only displays 2560x1440) and the current issue that it seems to be a crapshoot to join in progress hunts with friends. We typically all have to back out load into the fight from the base camp rather than coming to help someone mid hunt. As it stands, I pretty much only bought it to play with friends who dont have a PS4. I'll still be doing all my high level hunts on it (currently farming Arch Tempered Teostra) until things smooth out a little bit with the PC port.

Welp, time to but Mymoo on blast - He meant create an account for here. Anyways, turn on the game, get hit with 1 minute of unskippable into crap, then a 2 minute load time, then another long load time. I would give it a pass if there were zero load times in the game at all, but I didn't get far enough to find out (more on that in a second). Finally get into the game, and I am met with what feels like a 13 year old fanfiction of SAO. The story is a mess from the get go, and has just some of the highest levels of cringe I've seen in a game. I gave it a chance and actually tried to read what was being said, but I just couldnt after a certain point. Get to the opening cutscene (which is unskippable like everything else) and just watch it through. Whatever, standard anime stuff. I end up skipping all the next text to see if the gameplay is actually good. First thing is I move forward and all control is taken away at the site of the first mob then more cringe dialogue. Combat just seems bog standard ARPG stuff. End up just saying screw it and deleting the game off my HDD. I paid $15, so my bar was set extremely low for this game. I cannot imagine how someone not a diehard fan of this series would feel paying $50 for this. I like my anime and my ARPG/JRPGs to death, but there was only so much I could attempt to stomach before just giving up. 4 points given because the art style was well done for what they were going for and the voice acting for English was good. Taking 6 off because whomever gave the greenlight for this game needs to be taken out back behind the barn and shot. Back to more mindless grinding on PSO2.

What this game does, it does extremely well. Strung together boss fights with a soundtrack backed by Carpenter Brut (Of Hotline Miami 2 fame), The Toxic Avengers, and even Danger. The controls are extremely tight and fluid. Your screw ups really fell like your fault in the game. Of course, due to the nature of the game, this is not for everyone, but for those that like fast paced action games as well as bullet-hell style shooters, this is a must buy. There is also a review of someone saying that the game is ripping off Donnie Darko, but fails to realize that this game was designed by the same man who does the Afro Samurai manga. Yeah, it may have come out after the movie, but the origin of most of the game is heavily Eastern influences. Why this game gets docked a bit - the controls between bosses are extremely messed up. Absolutely terrible. I don't get how they can make a game feel so great in combat, but clunky just trying to navigate a small space.

So I heard all the hype, and I wanted to just ignore the game. Then a good friend of mine told me "Just play the damn game, ignore the hype, and play it". I broke down two weeks ago and picked it up... and the hype is deserved. While the graphics are pretty underwhelming, and the story is slightly generic, it pays off if you replay the game and discover what lies below the surface. A game that was once happy and upbeat turns extremely dark for a good while. Pros: Good music Great Characters Very different combat mechanics Rewards searching Replaying the game rewards you in many different ways Cons Graphics True Pacifist Ending boss requires zero skill to beat.

Final Fantasy Type-06

So where to start. I load up the game and see that the graphics options are extremely limited and only support two resolutions. Neither of these resolutions are what my laptop OR my desktop PC use. Whatever, Ill start the game. The game managed to piss me off right at the get go with the opening cut scene. It faded to black and time skipped ahead 1 minute at least 4 time. Then I noticed something odd on the main menu - No way to quit from there. This usually means we're headed straight into crappy port territory. I start to notice little things, like how some of the textures look updated, while the rest of them look straight off the PSP. I also noticed a way to tell who is a main character too really fast - Their mouths actually move. The rest of them have their mouths only move up and down, and its rather jarring watching two people talk with the different articulations. The plot is very typical Final Fantasy, and I did enjoy the combat. The multiple different ways things are fought out (Overworld directing troops and inside sieging cities) is a pretty neat feature. I'm starting to notice that certain people will always be better than the others. The guy that does massive damage with a katana, but leaves himself open for 5 seconds after an attack is completely useless right now. Other characters have similar flaws, but they can be worked past. Most battles have been simplified down to using someone with a gun or a bow, and alternate mashing attack and dodge. Take 0 damage in every fight. On the off hand I get hurt, someone usually just heals me up. Other minor things that bug me so far: Mouse does not disappear when idling. Why cant the analog stick be used for everything (menus require DPad use) Random sidequests given to you that take you to areas where you get one shot at that level even if you have been training Menu lag when trying to use an item Impossible to target people to harvest phantasm if they have died and you switch targets. Dialogue boxes that stay on screen for up to 10 seconds that you cannot skip. Usually Moogle tip boxes. Voice acting is all over the map. Some really good voice actors, some other people that should stick to just doing Hentai. Overall, this game feels rushed to be ported, and had little work to improve it over the PSP release. For a game releasing at the $30 price point, there are much better options for you to buy.

So I saw some random video online of this game, saw it for 20% off on steam and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed in the game. The mechanics are great, and the game forces you to balance between using lock on shots, melee, and standard shots throughout the game. In the final boss battle, if you have not mastered all the systems, you will die. A lot. Graphics are great, game supports 1440P as a display resolution (seems to be a 50/50 thing with indie games) and even up to 8K. The game does have a cohesive story (if you can follow it, more below about that), and lets you skip cutscenes so you aren't stuck watching stuff instead of blowing **** up. I also like that the game has a shield system that recharges when you don't get hit. It makes it less frustrating than most bullet hell games. It is still easy to die on the Hard settings, and you don't get combo points if you take damage, so there is always incentive to not get hit. So a few reasons why this game doesn't get a 10 - Too short. I understand that it's supposed to be a score attack game, but still, 6 stages is a bit short. I still find myself going back to beat my old high score, so the replay value is there. Japanese only voice acting. Now, this normally isn't a problem, but when the actual text for the story is flying by super fast, and the only way to get it is the (very small) English text in the bottom left of the screen, you miss out on huge chunks of it. The game is a solid 8.5, and I would recommend to anyone that enjoys shooters. Rounding up to 9 because the game deserves that instead of the 8, especially with the melee mechanic system that plays a pivotal role in the game.

Game is incredible. Tight control, great music, and great artwork. Nothing more you can ask from the game. It is extremely hard at later levels, but it never feels like its poor level design. When you die, you know its your fault. You will be mashing R for fast respawn in this game quite often.

All these negative reviews only show that 99% of the jokes in the game just went right past them. The ending makes the game. My friends and I sat on the couch and played this game on the big screen, and were laughing non-stop through the game in all of its gags. And the ending? Priceless. Game dinged because the soundtrack does get a bit grating when trying to go for all golds.

BLR is one of the best F2P FPS games out there. Unlike most others, the system is not broken with pay-to-win shceme. 1 match of GP will give you enough to rent a decked out gun for a day, so you can use high level guns to earn money to customize your own gun. The gunplay feels tight, and no weapons really feel overpowered than others (Unless you have a low recoil/low spread LMG setup). Speaking of gun setups, its amazing to see all that stats that you can modify by choosing different attachments. Almost anything you can think of relating to your weapons or armor can be customized to your exact play style. And the reason why I'm liking this game so much - The maps feel well thought out with plenty of alternate paths. With the exception of HeloDeck, the maps have a great mixture of places to snipe and places to get into a total **** ****. For a F2P game, nobody could have asked for more.

Oh man, where to start. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that most of the people that are rating positive for this game have never played D1 and D2. I remember the olden days of Deamons Trainer, PKing people in town for the lulz in D1, as well as the grip of mods available for D2. This series defined my childhood, so when we get to D3... well maybe my judgement is harsh, but its only from the eyes of someone who has loved this game. The new skill and leveling systems feel like they took control right out of my hands. Sure I can change my skill settings to play different, but what happened to specialization? What happened to getting those item drops that you had to think "hmm, more DPS, or that +4 to the skill that Im using?" Hell, what about STR requirements on armor, making you forgo those points in INT or VIT so that you could get that new armor on? The game feels like a dumbed down version of D3. Graphics look great... if this was a 2005-ish release. Seriously, go look at Tyrael's 1 pixel wing depth He turns the wrong way, they disappear. I just feel that this was a major disappointment. I'm currently letting my friend use my account, I have other things to play.

One of THE games to play on the Wii. Removing the fees to enter the matches was a great move, making the side missions only required to buy new weapons and to get Health/strength upgrades. Great humor, tight combat, but things can get a bit repetitive towards the end of the game.

Downrating to 1 to balancing out the ****storm of console gamers bombarding the PC REVIEW AREA. You dont need to copy/paste your 360 review. We PC Gamers have a whole set of issues beyond what you have, dont artificially inflate it. I lost my whole post before, but long story short, problems with the game: Lies about dedicated servers; horrible console port that is painfully obvious; Using VAC as anti-cheat (should have used PunkBuster like MW1); No CoD Elite. I think that sums up my earlier post. Activision has lied to us point blank about so many things, PC gamers! Its time we take action and stop letting them fleece us for money. I would have returned my preorder, but I loaded the MW1 copy I got for free, and I got stuck with it.

I didn't play the first ToS, but this game has a decent story line and an interesting combat system. It was enjoyable to play, but the game feels very slow paced. Another major problem is the inability to skip cut scenes. It makes dying that much more frustrating. Combine that with the game being ordered like Save Point - MASSIVE CUTSCENE - Hard battle, it makes it that much worse. It kept me interested through the game, but there were times where I had to take breaks from it so I wouldn't rage having to watch a 5+ minute segment of cut scenes again. All in all, the game felt like I was playing Pokemon mashed up with Star Ocean. Also, about what FozzyU said - he obviously never read the battle tutorials that the game forces you to go through in the first few battles. You push (-) in order to switch targets. Or you could just switch to Manual. Either way.
