Bubsy 4D9
May 24, 2026
I'm not glazing or joking when I say this, Bubsy 4D is the closest we've ever seen to gaming perfection.Think about it.Think back to all your favorite games. The best games in the world.Even those have one or two parts in them you don't **** parts. Unfun parts.Bubsy 4D doesn't have those **** does not have any bad levels. It doesn't gatekeep the true ending behind optional side content. It doesn't have any annoying-ahh underwater levels. It doesn't have puzzles that ruin the pacing. It doesn't have any unnecessary outlier stages like "the vehicle part" or "play as the lamer character for a stage". There are no microtransactions. There is no day 1 DLC. It doesn't cost $80. It wasn't broken on release. It is not woke. It does not lecture the player. It does not play itself. There are no terrible minigames it forces you to grind through to get back to the main levels. And there are no damn quicktime ****'s literally just a ****'s just a cute character that controls well running through tight level design. That's all it needs to be.That's all any game ever needs to be.I don't understand why every other game on earth feels this dire need to slip in 1 or 2 bad parts that literally nobody likes, seemingly with the intent of being the one thing keeping that game from being an absolute 10 out of 10.Bubsy 4D comes along and says "we don't do that here", and just lets you have FUN.They just took the "fun" part of the game, and just made that the entire game. That's really all it takes to make a game good.Just make it FUN.Bubsy 4D's only real flaw is being a bit too **** if my biggest complaint about your game is "I want to see more of it", you're doing something right.

I'd rate it even higher if it had PVP and didn't have Day-1 DLC. But other than that, it does everything a monster taming game should do. And unlike a certain other game, it actually tries to be worth that $70.

This is an action RPG with no EXP system, makes you grind out tons of rare materials for underwhelming spells that are worse than the default spells, and really stupid difficulty spikes. The pace is also generally really slow. You don't even get to create your own character, which would be fine if the protagonist actually spoke or had a personality. If the protag is gonna be silent, they need to be nameable. Just play Cat Quest instead.

why is every sidequest in this game "find the random npc in this huge maze-like dungeon with cryptic or outright misleading clues"? i'd ignore them if not for the fact you really need the extra exp for the main quests. the game feels like a slow slog to play, for that alone. and if that wasnt bad enough, the boss fights are total HP-sponges who dont even put up a fight. you'll get like one fun challenging boss battle for every several nothing-fights. i... kinda hate this. please play literally any other digimon game, just stay away from dawn/dusk. its a shame too, cuz the starter digimon is awesome and should be in more games. and the fact that some ultimate digimon simply cannot evolve to mega is an insult.

It's literally hold right to win. It's more autopilot than Sonic Forces. The Special Stages are really annoying to unlock, and the later half of the game then starts getting cheap with hazard placement. The game is so easy it's boring in one half, and insanely frustrating in the later half, with absolutely no in-between. Why even get the Emeralds, anyway? Vanilla never gets kidnapped if you just don't go for Super Sonic.

Good game and all, but it's very unbalanced and broken so it can be frustrating to play sometimes. Play this one in short bursts, and don't be afraid of using moves that are "overpowered". Because some bosses are straight up immune to certain Commands and Shotlocks, so the player doesn't always have a lot of freedom in how they approach some situations. What's the point of giving the player so many options if the majority of those options are just flat-out wrong? Also the final level being locked behind getting all the Xehanort Reports is kinda dumb...

Sonic: Lost World7
Jun 11, 2021
Not the best Sonic game ever made, but certainly not as bad as everyone says. The PC port of Lost World trims the fat from the Wii U version. The DLC may not be here, but at least you don't need to farm for as many Animals as in the previous version. The controls don't feel as heavy or slippery as Unleashed or Generations, and there was an honest attempt made here to make the gameplay and level design be something other than "hold boost button to win". I'd love to see elements from this game like the parkour system return and get polished more for future games, and this game reminded me how much fun Spindashing in 3D was. There's a couple dumb gimmicky levels here and there, and most of it feels like Sonic in Super Mario Galaxy, but it's still at least fun and fun is what I look for. As far as games go, this one's alright. If they ever attempt this sort of gameplay style again, just remove the gimmicky levels (like the snowball part) and make it NOT look like Mario Galaxy.

Quite possibly the best game on the Switch. Also you can make Mario wear a sombrero.

Beautiful underrated masterpiece ****. Skip Dark Cloud 1 and play this one. This one is the good one. You don't even need to play the first game to understand this one. Dark Chronicle (A.K.A "Dark Cloud 2") trims the fat of the original, removes perma-breaking weapons so your progress doesn't just go out the window, and removes that annoying thirst meter. And in exchange, the combat has been immensely upgraded and the controls feel much more refined. Building weapons, upgrading a giant robot to pilot, being able to transform into monsters, and a more fleshed out Georama system make this game the definitive "Dark Cloud" experience.

Garbage. The story campaign is unplayable. All of the story decks are absolute trash, resulting in 100% of your losses coming from a brick hand instead of your own lack of skill. Meanwhile, your opponent's deck will always have actual synergy. Totally unfair, poor design, who on the dev team let their 6 year old build these story decks? Wins do not come from skill, but from pure raw luck, you just need to hope and pray you don't have a garbage opening hand full of high-level Monsters you can't even use. I know I could just use a deck I build myself, but the point of this game is to feel like I'm playing the anime, and I can't do that without decks themed around the characters I'm playing as. The game fails at it's "play through the anime" selling point. If I was gonna play a game where I build my own deck, I'd either just play the actual card game in real life, or I'd go play Tag Force. Oh, and not to mention sometimes the game crashes during a duel. When I got to the duel with Dartz, that's when I decided to call it quits and play a game with actual gameplay in it. Done with this. Sorry, Konami, but I only play good games.

One major complaint I have is this game's marketing and promotion tries too hard to pander to lolicons and degenerates, which can attract the wrong sort of people. I wish they would stop that. Thankfully, the actual game itself is not like that at all. On the surface, it may seem like a tab-target WOW clone with an anime coat of paint. But the storyline, the secondary class system, the Eidolon mechanics, and the exclusive dual-class moves really help this game shine as it's own thing. Highly recommended.

Mega Man Legacy Collection0

These games aged like milk. remove your nostalgia-goggles. Let's be honest. Megaman was never good. I wasted my money on this, and I'm mad about it. I am mad at boomer gamers for telling me these games were fun, only for me to just get frustrated. I wanted to like Megaman. I have tried several games, and even beat a couple of them (i beat 1 and 2, without a guide and without rewinding, only saving in-between stages). But I am just not having fun. challenge is a good thing, but the laws of good game design dictate that challenge should be given to the player in increments, meaning a game should gradually increase in difficulty as you progress. these games just throw way too much at you to start. the concept of limited lives has always been an outdated thing in gaming, nobody likes having to replay an entire stage just to retry a boss fight. this game design philosophy makes it pretty much impossible for you to be able to learn the boss patterns since you keep getting sent back. this is especially punishing in megaman, moreso than most other games. limited lives is not "difficulty", it simply creates the *illusion* of difficulty because it takes up your time. these games let you play any stage in any order.... or at least, they pretend to. you're actually supposed to look up a guide on which stages you're supposed to do in which order because unless you're an absolute BEAST with the mega buster/rock buster/whatever buster, then you're pretty much required to use very specific weapons on the boss that you get from other bosses. this same type of problem persists in every game in both the classic series and the x series. there shouldnt be an illusion of choice, either just make the game linear or at least have a flashing graphic on the screen that says "recommended" next to the first levels you're supposed to play. most of the time, the games are tough but very fair. but every now and then, there's a few parts that are just outright cheap and totally unfair (Yellow Devil and Boobeam Trap, anyone?) and when you hit these little bumps, it can be insanely infuriating. there was even a few times where i died to a glitch in the game instead of my own lack of skill. of course if you just no-life these games and play them over and over and over again, you CAN get good and have some enjoyment, and even swear that this is a good franchise. but objectively speaking, it's not very newcomer friendly at all. and to top it all off, some enemies can feel like complete damage sponges. again, thats not difficulty. that creates the *illusion* of difficulty, because it takes up your time. The final straw for me was Megaman 3 when I got to Needle Man's revisit. theres a part where you need rush jet to fly over a large pit. and if you die once, you gotta grind these enemies out over and over and over until they drop ammo for rush jet. imagine if in super mario bros., before you could retry the stage, you have to kill the same 2 goombas over and over until the rng makes them drop a fire flower, because it's required to proceed. and across the pit there's ammo capsules you gotta get to keep the jet meter up, but they dont respawn in between lives so regardless of how many lives you have, you literally only get 1 try. why do weapons not refill between lives? why do items not respawn between lives? youd think theyd learn their lesson after that wall boss in megaman 2 to restock your stuff between deaths when you need a very specific weapon, but no. and airman and crashman just feel stupidly broken compared to their fights in megaman 2, their patterns are slightly changed up and sometimes completely random, so you don't even get to find out what you did wrong. megaman is a bad franchise that died for a reason. it's time we all removed our nostalgia goggles, and start thinking of ways that these games could improve, instead of just blindly accepting them all because "it's megaman, and megaman is a classic franchise". you want a GOOD capcom game series that's hard as nails, but is actually FUN? go play Devil May Cry.

Super Mario Sunshine7
Sep 18, 2020
It's insanely fun, but it has 2 really, REALLY major flaws. 1. The game has a set list of Shines to collect to make any real progress. - In Super Mario 64, it did not matter which Stars you got, what order you got them in, or how you got them. All that mattered was you were able to collect enough Stars to open that next door. And because Sunshine is a direct sequel to Super Mario 64, every first-time player is going to instantly assume that the same rules apply here. But this isn't true. You have to do episodes 1 to 7 in every stage to unlock the final level, nothing more and nothing less. So of course every first-time player is going to waste tons of time collecting all the other side-level Shine Sprites and wondering why they're suddenly not making progress anymore. If you play the game a second time with this information in mind, of course you're gonna have fun. But that first run, you're gonna waste a lot of time and get really bored. 2. None of the side-missions are any fun. - The **** table is bugged, the poison river lilly pad never goes where you want it to, moving that giant watermelon is stupidly tedious, some of the Shine Sprites are insanely cryptic, getting all the Blue Coins is an unlikeable chore, etc. So on top of wasting time and wondering why you aren't making progress, you're getting frustrated while you do it too. If the game simply TOLD the player something like "look sport, ya can't play this the same way ya played 64" at the beginning, then these wouldn't even be issues. Even though I now enjoy this game and can play it correctly, that still doesn't change the fact that these two little problems soured a LOT of people's first-time experiences.

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga5

It's a fun game with really fun yet simple combat and a decent way to experience episodes 1 to 6 in a single video game, but there's one problem. You literally cannot die at all. You instantly respawn right on the spot when you die, and you have infinite lives. None of the enemies you kill respawn, you don't go back to a checkpoint, the puzzles don't reset, you are literally immortal. There's literally no point to having a combat system and a health meter if death literally doesn't exist. Some people will say "but you lose studs", but that's not exactly a real consequence for death since studs are completely optional and not required to finish the story mode. You could argue that "it's a kids game", but there's plenty of kids game where failure at least matters a tiny bit, like Mario, Pokémon, Sonic, and even Kirby! So the only way to have any sort of challenge in this game is to manually quit a level upon death and play the whole thing all over again, and not even that works because you then have to sit through tons of unskippable cutscenes over and over again. If you don't care about that, you'll love this game. But if you want an *actual* video game about Star Wars, you're better off with Old Republic or the other games where each movie is given it's own game. Also the friendly AI is borderline nonexistent, this game was not designed with single players in mind and you basically HAVE to find a co-op partner.

Paper Mario: The Origami King0
Jul 19, 2020
The Paper Mario team continues to repeat the same mistakes they've been making since Sticker Star and ignoring fan feedback. No real EXP system (its an RPG), no badges, no unique party members with actual personalities, overabundance of paper puns and paper gimmicks (which was never supposed to be the point. This isn't supposed to be "PAPER" Mario, this is supposed to be "Mario STORY"), battle system is slow and gimmicky, bosses lack imagination (literally inanimate objects that serve as lame arts and crafts puns), and just overall a lack of soul. I get that with Sticker Star, they wanted to try something new. But it didn't work. Then they did the same exact thing again in Color Splash, and it didn't work. Now they're doing the literal exact same thing again in Origami King, and guess what? IT STILL DOESN'T WORK. How about instead of repeating the same broken and unfun gameplay style that just does not work, how about instead use a new formula that actually does work, or just go back to the styles of one of the first three games? Bring back Star Points, bring back flowers and badges, bring back unique party members and NPCs, bring back jump and hammer upgrades, and bring back special moves. Bring back the Paper Mario we ACTUALLY WANT

I think I finally found it. I think I finally found the WORST JRPG OF ALL TIME. Okay, so get this crap: - Simply running on the overworld drains your HP. Not your "stamina" or your "energy", YOUR FREAKING HP. So you're forced to slowly walk everywhere at a snail's pace. - Simply blowing into the mic makes you run from battle. This game is portable, so naturally you'll be playing on the go. But what if you're playing somewhere loud like on the bus or in a room with 2 other friends having a conversation? You'll auto-run from a fight and miss out on EXP. - I fought several enemies and couldn't figure out why I'm not getting any EXP. Turns out, you have to be in a certain special mode by pressing the R button to get EXP. There is zero reason why we have to switch between 2 different modes for different battle results, but I guess Ubisoft was doing aaaaall the cocaine. - You can't even choose which enemy to target for an attack. I stopped playing this trash before even reaching the second town. Why did they intentionally cram as many un-fun mechanics as they possibly could into this? To make the game "different" from other RPGs? You can stand out without being garbage or that different, you know.
