Sadly this game is purely visual fodder. There is no story here, and nothing is explained. The game does manage to build up a pretty good climax but it has no payoff whatsoever. Stories are meant to have a beginning, a middle, and an end and follow the story chart of an intro, rising action, climax, and ending. This game has an intro, rising action, climax. There is no ending here. Except for the fact that the game no longer allows you to play. Its sad to see really. The games visuals were amazing and it had some amazing atmosphere. But its all for nothing if there is no substance.

What was once the king of simulation racing games is now a shadow of its former self. There are two things that completely ruined this game for me. First were the micro-transactions that essentially made the game pay to have an advantage, and second is the "always online drivatar". They essentially made the game "always online" even when you arent by forcing you to race with real peoples drivatars. Drivitars are basically bots that remember other peoples playstyles. This means that races are now **** of cars ramming eachother and not following the correct ways to race unless you feel like playing on the hardest difficulties way above most peoples skill level. Also, the game has a "rival" mechanic. This mechanic is completely broken as it buffs a random racer on the track to the point where no mater what place they are in, they will win and there is nothing you can do about it. Your rival will have a car that has a performance level way above yours, meaning no matter how hard you try you wont win as a class B Mazda Miata is suddenly doing 200mph down a straight away way out of your reach. Its sad really, really wanted this game but now its on my list of Christmas returns.

The exo suits make this game faster and more like an arena shooter. Its cool because it makes everyone learn something new and raises the skill ceiling. Then again it makes people hate the game because it messed with the formula that has worked for CoD for almost a decade. I love games like Unreal Tournament, so making it more like that is awesome. However, Even with this breath of fresh air it is still plagued with the same problems of previous games in series. Single player is worthless as usual, but they changed the online just enough to get me interested again. Never bought Ghosts, Hated MW3, and loved Blops 2, but needless to say CoD is losing my interest quickly. Unless they redesign the game from the ground up, CoD will disappear in the next few years as this game is good, but not amazing. Its not going to save the series, it merely stops its decline.

Although the community is great and the game is fun, it is ruined by the fact that maybe 5 champs run the game. Out of the maybe 4 dozen champs, only 5 are worth anything and if you dont play them you lose. End of story. Its no fun to play as people only play the 5 OP champs and you cant play the ones you want or you are guaranteed to lose. Ill stick to LoL, much better champ balance there.

This is not a bad game by any means. It's Fifa 14 quality with a World Cup Skin thrown on it. It works fine and plays well, its just absurd for EA to ask for $60 for it. They are riding the World Cup hype train and overcharge for the game knowing that people will want to buy it. I recommend buying it after the World Cup when it inevitably drops to $20.

Great game. Its very fun to play with three of your friends and is extremely well designed and balanced. Its some of the most fun I have had with a game. The only problem is the lack of online multiplayer. I would prefer to play this game on a couch with friends, but my life is busy and I just dont have time most of the time. This means I rarely have time to play the game which hurts it in the big picture.

I can't give this game a perfect score as the campaign really isn't anything special at all. It's just regular multiplayer with a couple cut-scenes spliced in. But aside from the disappointing campaign, this game is the best multiplayer shooter I have played in a long long time. Its pretty much Hawken cross Tribes. All comparisons to CoD end at the bullethose guns. The game runs silky smoth, the servers (after the typical launch day hiccup that was fixed within an hour) are running very well, and it is an absolute blast to play. This is the most fun I have had playing an FPS in a good 5 years. One of the best things is that anyone can play this game. Its easy to get into and is extremely rewarding. The more time you put into it the better you will get at it. Its a shame to see so many reviews on here by people who have obviously not played the game, or are just on the "hate it because its cool" bandwagon., but hey its Metacritic what do you expect. I hope you take the time to sit down and decide if this game is worth your time and decide your own opinion, as you will not be disappointed. This is an FPS fans dream come true.

Tactical Intervention6
Feb 19, 2014
I was on the fence about this game for a long time. The game is run on an early source engine and the game is a mod so I can forgive the dated look. The gameplay is solid and more skillful and tactical than CoD, but less so than games like Counter Strike and Insurgency. The maps are great and mission and highway mode are awesome. But the game has its flaws. The game is "pay to grind less". I wont say pay to win because you can unlock things without spending a penny, but it will require hundreds of hours of play before you get a complete set of weapons and armor. Players can purchase body armor to take less damage and buy guns that do more than the free ones which does make it unfair at times, but if you are good you can still beat them with well placed shots. The game is fun so since its free I would give it a shot. But I would sink some serious time into it to see if its for you before you make any in game purchases.

Loadout7
Feb 7, 2014
I've played about 8 hours of Loadout on Steam, and I feel that the critics here have pretty much done the game justice with its score. Loadout is a very good free to play game in every sense. Everything that can effect gameplay like guns, their upgrades, and abilities like turrets and sheilds, can all be unlocked in a reasonable amount of time for free. Only cosmetic items such as hats, clothes, and taunts are purchasable. This keeps it from being pay to win, as things that are required for you to buy are purely optional. I do think that purchasable items in the store however are a little overpriced (It runs about 8-10 dollars for one item), but there are two reasons I can kind of forgive this. First, it is only a little more expensive than price I already pay for other games like League of Legends and TF2. Second, there are bundles that cost more (20-50 dollars) but give you your moneys worth by giving you the equivalent dollar amount in its in game currency, xp boosts and exclusive full sets of items. Gameplay is fast and fun, and well balanced (The fact that everything is OP means nothing is). The only problem I have with this game is the fact that there isn't very much variety. There are only 4 gun types and three characters. Once leveling is done there isn't much else to do, and with only three characters everyone tends to look exactly the same unless you want to spend some serious cash on your avatar. So to wrap things up, this game is well worth your time. Even if you don't want to put money into it you can still enjoy it. The devs are still working on this title to improve it and add to it. So I hope that I can get on Metacritic again in the future and raise its score if they add a ton of new content.

Its amazing how little fun I had in this game. What used to be my favorite shooter has slowly devolved into a terrible train wreck. Bad map design, broken gameplay, OP weapons, people killing you with 0% health, and just an overall frustratingly unbalanced mulitplayer. My win ratio is 82% and my KDR is 1.5 and yet I don't have any fun. You don't feel like your doing anything in this game. You'll be in the middle of a firefight with tracers flying everywhere and buildings exploding, yet no one is dying and you cant see anyone to fight. Its bizarre that I can feel like I'm in a combat zone with out any actually combat going on. BFBC2 is still my favorite and will continue to be my favorite BF game. BF4 just goes to show that bigger isnt always better. 64 player matches are too crowded and just result in a cluster of spawn killing and 2 second lives. I wont be buying BF5 and I will be cautious with BFBC3 as Im sure they will screw it up.

Although I like this game a lot. It feels very unpolished. There is a lot of screen tearing and the textures look terrible. This was made in 2012, and looked outdated even when it was released. The game is very rewarding in its stealth mechanics, yet it seems rushed. I cant explain it but everything graphically and gameplay wise seem unfinished. Even with these problems I have fun with this game and it deserves multiple playthroughs. Its absolutely worth your time, and a sequel is well deserved as fixing this games issues in another installment of the series will make it perfect. Collapse

Nov 15, 2013
Skullgirls is an excellent fighting game. The controls work wonderfully on the PC which surprised me, and It doesn't require you to be a twitch pro like other fighters such as SF. You can pick up and learn a character pretty easily in about 15 minutes, so its a game that is easy to learn but hard to master. Its great to see a game with an all female cast as well. Its something that isn't done often and actually probably needs to be done more. The only problems I have with this game is its horridly confusing menu controls due to everything being telegraphed through action keys and not by "push enter" or "press back". I promise you the first time you play this game you'll be scratching you head as normal menu control keys don't work, and as you start pressing buttons your screen will start to spasm. Also, the final boss falls into the normal "cheating a-hole" boss. I would compare it Mortal Combat 9's Khan in where you just have to rush him and spam one attack over and over dodging his attacks. Kinda ruins story and arcade when your having good fights racking up combos, then you hit the boss and spam high kicks the whole time. I do recommend this game though. Its brilliantly done.

I originally gave this game a nine. But the longer the game was out the worse it got. Now i can only have fun in a private server with my friends as matchmaking is completely broken now. Players can pay to have OP weapons, and only certain characters can heal themselves during combat making literally every other weapon and character completely pointless unless you want to be at an extreme and unfair advantage. Me and 2 of my friends with randoms 5v1 a player with the rocket launcher and heal and no one could kill him. I would one shot you run a way and heal himself to full health in under 2 seconds. If you buy this game, only play in a private lobby with your friends where you can make some ground rules or be prepared to get pissed off.

It not amazing, but its not good either. Although it is the same thing game play wise, there are enough changes behind the scenes that let me have fun with it and try something new. But they made the maps bigger, and let you play with less people. 12 is now the max amount of players you can play with because modes like Ground War are gone along with S&D. The destruction isn't even noticeable in MP and it could have been taken out of the game because I haven't seen anything happen at all yet. The campaign is much less condeluded as previous installments and although it rips off Red Dawn and Modern Warfare 2, its a breath of freash are to go into a new story not held down by previous installments. Its stupid as hell, but i enjoyed it. I honestly havent played extinction and dont really plan on doing it soon so dont ask me about that. But over all I would give it a low 50/100. Nothing spectacular and will definitely giving something for fans to do, but you can tell CoD is at the end of its life. I'll be interested to see what finally knocks it off the top in the genre. Oct 27, 2013
An extremely generic and lifeless shooter. For anything good i can say about it I can say at least 3 bad things. There are unique things at work here like the ability to help you and a teammate mantle a wall that's too high for you to climb, slide under objects instead of crawling, and change gun attachments on the fly like crysis. It shows the devs were putting in at least a little creative thought. Other than that its, basic gun play, with basic guns, with basic shooter mechanics, on boring an unbalanced maps. Sliding is abused to become more of a problem than anything else, which takes away any benefit it would normally give in game. The class system hardly ever comes into play and is more based of what gun you want than anything as you will hardly ever use a classes ability. You move like your walking though water and combat is sluggish and feels too slow. The cash shop is all rentals with no permanent purchases, and In game currency is earned at an insanely slow rate (you'll play maybe 20 30 games to get anything good for maybe a weeks time). I wont say this game is pay to win, its just pay to grind less. But the fact that you will play this game for 4-6 hours and unlock ONE item for a weeks time might as well make it pay to win. Also make wearable items give you perks and people who pay have an insane advantage. Its not as bad as Blacklight, but it is noticeable. Overall this game isn't terrible, but it isn't good either. For a FTP there are much better games out there, including Blacklight (but not by much. I gave it a 5). But i cant recommend this game to anyone. Skip it please. Say what you want about CoD, at least it has the formula down, and i have a lot of fun playing it. This is no CoD.

I'm kind of suprised this game is on Metacritic since its still in Beta. That fact aside, it is incredibly fun to play and is absolutely stunning to look at. This is one of the most impressive looking games to ever be made. Flying is one of those things that is easy to learn yet hard to master, so everyone can play it but those who put in the time to get better can give themselves an advantage in combat. Planes all handle differently and have different roles which gives this game great strategy features. Planes have just enough customization options to give you plane personal flair without going overboard, and every plane levels differently. Now the problems i have with it i dont really want to effect the score given its beta phase but ramming is a major issue. I think if the devs could solve the problem of other players who use ramming to either a) dont know how to shoot or b) are trolling this game would improve a lot. Also, IMO, i think that the game should be more details on how you got shot down. Its hard to learn from your mistakes when you dont know what happened to your plane. Sometimes it tells you (like when you have a fuel leak) somtimes it doesnt. I just find it annoying to be fine and then suddenly your plane loses control and crashes. Overall i cant give this game over an eight simply because its an unfinished product, and i i wont let some of its problems effect its score because of that fact too. I cant wait for them to expand the Beta and get ground and Naval combat in the game.

It was actually pretty difficult for me to not give this game a perfect rating. Aside from a few sexist moments, bugs, and "stand around and wait for the person guiding you to stop talking as he blocks the doorway" moments that keep it from achieving that score, this game is brilliant. First off this game is absolutely freaking gorgeous. This is one of the best looking games to date running on a high end PC, like mine. For a linear game it builds such a terrific dark and desperate atmosphere. Every moment is tense and exciting, and stealth is rarely done better. Stealth has been drastically improved since M 2033 to the point where stealth-ing the whole game is actually an option now (save the scripted moments). The world is unique and the story is gripping original and interesting. Combat is fun and fast, although the AI on lower difficulties can be brain-dead at times. This game is easily a contender for my choice at GOTY and i cant wait for more Metro.

Aug 22, 2013
I was incredibly surprised by this game. Im a big fan of XCOM Enemy Unknown. I haven't played the originals but i could see why so many people were getting pissed at this game when it was first announced. Although they did knock XCOM to a subtitle, i feel that they should have kept it out of the games name entirely to get better PR with XCOM fans. Now that they didn't you get a bunch of people ranting on Metacritic and other websites with giant nostalgia boners saying this is the worst game ever made. Simply put, it is a refreshing surprise. If you get it in you mind that this game has nothing to do with XCOM and plays more like Mass Effect, its a solid game. Not great, but solid. The Bureau builds an incredible atmosphere right from the beginning. It has a great 50's Noire feel to it that carries this game. The combat is almost exactly like ME and works well. Although the Ai will have its "special" moments, it is a fun third person cover shooter where flanking and planning are actually needed. Its not XCOM, but thats really the point. Over all i had fun with it, i wouldn't reccomend it for $60 but pick it up on its first sale or price cut for 30 or 40 dollars.I think its worth giving the devs the money at that price.

DOTA 2 is definitely a step over LOL in the difficulty department, so i would use LoL as a starter to learn how to play MOAB games, then once you get good at that jump into DOTA. This game is incredibly fun when i play it with my friends. But whenever i join a lobby with randoms i cant enjoy myself. The pathfinder class ruins ever game mode in this game. I understand he is supposed to be fast, but the fact that in CTF he can literally run laps around the map and cap the flag six time uncontested and run through you 20 turrets without taking a single shot is insane. In TDM he takes the flag and runs laps around the outside of the map and hes so fast the even an entire team of pathfinders cant kill him. Its a fun free game but the fact that this can happen in every game ruins the fun factor and takes out some of the strategy. I enjoy it i really do and i recommend it. This is the best survival game out there and i wont here anyone else say otherwise. On higher difficulties, ammo, health, and other nessecities are hard to come by. You and your enemies die in one or two shots and when you're hit you'll bleed out and die unless you bandage yourself up. Weapons have realistic recoil (at least more realistic then some modern FPS's) and hitting enemies with older more worn guns can be a challenge. youll constantly be stashing supplies in hiding spots in the world and taking ammo and bandages from dead enemies. You actually feel like your trying to survive, and that's something a lot of games fail to do. The story isn't that exceptional but is interesting and being very interested in what happened at Chernobyl, this game's setting is amazing and original. I heard that this game was the Crysis of its day and it shows as the world is very detailed and graphics intensive for its time. The game does everything right and still holds up to this day.

Just a blast to play. Now this is my first mech game i have ever played so Im obviously not basing this game off any others of the Mech Fighting genre. But its well balanced, being that even a higher ranked player with a nicer mech can still get schooled by a level one starter mech, and incredibly fun. Everything can be earned in a reasonable amount of time unlike many other free to play games, making this something i would be more than happy to play for a long time. Also it is not pay to win. The only things that you pay for are cosmetic and dont effect gamplay. So there's none of this Blacksite BS where a guy can just wreck people because he payed $20 for armor that puts him at an unfair advantage over FTP players, or like in TF2 where classes can purchase OP weapons and hats. Overall the game is very well handled. It is very fun to play and since it seems the Devs hearts are in the right place (making a good game over making money) i will be more than happy to spend money on this game unlike other games like Blacksite that seems more like a CoD money grab. (PS i love TF2, just using that as an example.)
