Block N Load

May 30, 2015
I usually avoid minecraft styled games, especially FPS minecraft games, however this is one which stands out of the crowd and has become one of my favourite games on steam. Block N Load is the sequel to Ace of Spades and fixes all the problems caused by Jagex, I never played any other Jagex games before, but from what I heard, a lot of people hate them and don't trust them, normally seeing this makes me want to avoid buying certain games like COD, Battlefield, the new sims games, Train simulator and more. However this time Jagex has said they want to make this a great game and fix all the bad they have done in the past, and I beleive them because right now, any feedback/bug you report is pretty much instaintly noticed by a memeber of Jagex, well not instaintly but around 97.5 times more faster then most Devs. Plus everyone makes mistakes, we are all human in the end and we all make mistakes. So back to the game, is it good? I just said it has become one of my favorite games on steam, it has a lot of competition so how did it get up there with my favorites? Firstly is the class system, right now we have 6 heros and we are getting more soon, all 6 right now are very well balanced and all 6 are fun to play as, my favourites are Sarge Stone, Cogwheel, Ninja and Nigel, however I try to be an all rounder so I can balance teams if no one chooses a support character. One downside of the class system is that the more harder classes like Ninja aren't locked, so new players just pick him and go 0/27 and rage quit, it would be nice if Ninja was locked for a bit so new players can get used to the game. Overall all 6 heros are fun as hell to play as and the next heros are gonna be awesome too! Secondly is the artstyle, instead of taking the overused approach of making everything pixaly like Minecraft, Block N Load gives us some fantastic graphics and lighting, everyone and everything stands out! Plus I love how all the characters have Block like features, but NOT fully blocked like other Minecraft styled games. Thirdly is the music, even though right now the soundtrack is REALLY small, it's very good and all the songs are memorable and I always hum or click my fingers to the beat! Fourth is the hit detection, this is something I usually bring up in other games, however I'm gonna say it, Block N Load has the best hit detection of any Multiplayer FPS I have ever played, the source engine could take some lessons from this game, I can shoot someone AND IT HITS! NO **** BLOOD FLYING OUT OF THE ENEMY AND 0 DAMAGE! Fifth is the Devs, I mentioned they wanted to start fresh and fix their bad reputation, and honestly I've never seen such active devs, most devs isolate themselves and maybe come out once and a while, however here they are so close to the community and so friendly... one day Senpai Jagex will notice me. Sixth is the price, I bought this game for around £15-£20 when it was EA, look at the price now, it's even cheaper then it was before so if you want a new game, grab this! As for my £15-£20, I'm glad I payed that amount because it's been a blast playing this. Also now for the F.A.Q! Q. Is this Ace of Spades 2? A. Yes and No, Block N Load is the sequel to Ace of Spades, however the gameplay is much different, TF2 is the sequel to TFC, however just because it's a sequel doesn't mean the game is the exact same, yes there is similarities but both games are different, this is the same with Block N Load and Ace of Spades. Q. Are you serious about Jagex? A. Yes, they have truely turned themselves around and I wish luck on them with this game and future titles... pls notcie me Senpai Jagex. Q. Are all the heros balanced? A. Everyone is balanced, however I personally find Eliza a bit op with her DOT, but that's just me, right now the game is very well balanced. Q. Any tips for a new player? A. Do not play Ninja for your first few matches, play as Sarge or Cogwheel to get used to the game first. Always pay attention to your map, announcer and HUD for information, a supply drop might appear and they can turn the game around! Try to help teammates when you can, this can mean helping them dig something, build a base or help with a deadly assault! Try your best to do the objective, you might die over and over but your slowly crippling the defence of the enemy and distracting them from other teammates. Always think and don't go Rambo unless your forced to. And remember it's only a game :) Overall Block N Load is a blast and I highly recommend it to any of my friends or anyone looking at this review.

Dinosaur King

User ScoreBigbangrex
May 12, 2015
Based of the Arcade game and anime which are both really good, Dinosaur King on the DS is a very faithful port of the original Arcade game onto the DS, it has a unique storyline and nearly all the dinosaurs from the Arcade return into this DS game to cause mayhem! The gameplay is simple but a lot of fun, it's basically Rock, Paper and Scissors but with Elemental Dinosaurs! It can get repetitive at times, but there's a lot of things to spice up the game like... Awakened Dinosaurs which are more powerful versions of your starter and a hidden Awakened Dinosaur. Alpha and Super Alpha Dinosaurs A LOT of unique attacks Small but fantastic soundtrack The game's graphics are really good for DS standards, the hub world and maps are colourful, but bland when it comes to character as a lot of people in this game is very forgettable except the main villains and your friends. Overall a really good port of the arcade version! If anyone from SEGA is reading this, PLEASE PORT THIS TO THE 3DS!

Pokemon Bank has one job, and it does it's jobs really well! "Well what's it's jobs?" You may ask, well it has 2 jobs and they are transporting Pokemon from the 5th gen to 6th gen and storing Pokemon. Transporting Pokemon is really easy, you need to install Poketransporter which is free, you put all the Pokemon you want to bring to X/Y/ORAS into box 1, unlegit hacked Pokemon and Kyurem's forms cannot be transported though. When your done transporting them, go onto Pokemon Bank and just add them into your X/Y/ORAS from your Transport Box and BOOM! Your done! The other is storing Pokemon, got lots of Pokemon and ran out in your PC ingame? Well Pokemon Bank can store 3000 Pokemon! Yes you read it right, 3000 slots for Pokemon! Only downside is that the game requires an annually fee of £4.49, but that's only a small downside for a great app! Overall if you got some 5th generation Pokemon who want a new home, grab this and transport them into the 6th generation!

Awesomenauts: Starstorm
10
User ScoreBigbangrex
Apr 26, 2015
Starstorm is a DLC done right, it includes a lot of content for a cheap price. You gain access to 5 new nauts, Ted McPain, Penny Fox, Sentry X58, Skree and Nibbs who all standout on their own and are a lot of fun to play as! You also gain access to their themes and killing spree themes when you play as them! Additionally you gain some new songs to listen to, replays so you can show your friends your matches, custom game settings and more! One thing that is bashed about the DLC though is that it's Pay2Win, it isn't, it's just that 4 of the 5 characters are more offensive and focus more on killing rather then anything else, plus they are dead easy to counter, so it's pretty much your fault if you die from them. Overall if you see this on sale, grab it, Starstorm is one of the best DLCs ever made.

Awesomenauts is a 2D MOBA that is... well AWESOME! The game is a take on 80s cartoons and in space, this means there are a lot of references including He-man, Terminator and more! The gameplay is simple, but a lot of fun and addicting! All of the nauts are unique from eachother and they all standout on their own, plus if theres one you don't like, there will be another naut who you might enjoy! We got Leon who is an Assassin, Lonestar a Cowboy pusher, Scoop an Ice cream knight and much more! The game is a must have for platformer gamers and MOBA lovers, it's easily one of a kind and does it's job well, plus the kickass soundtrack helps this game A LOT! Only downside is the balance is a bit messy, however Ronimo (The devs) are fixing these as we speak! Every patch someone becomes balanced, Over or Underpowered and it's actually really funny.

TF2 used to be something special, something that made it stand out from other games, however as timed passed Valve now ruined this game and made it a monstrous cash cow, not only that, but they keep doing stupid **** and ignore the stuff that needs addressing. Firstly is F2P, sure it boosted the game's life span, but all it really did was add a huge amount of idiotic, immature and awful players into the game that poisoned the community, the community used to be friendly, they helped new players, we would laugh and smile while we enjoy TF2, now it's just "OMFG F2P NOOB!" "UR **** AND SO IS UR WHOEL FAMILY" and more terrible quotes that should stay in COD, players act aggressively for no reason and the amount of hackers has sky rocketed, thanks Valve, thanks for destroying a unique community with your **** business model. Secondly is how lazy the devs are now, TF2 got a lot of updates in 2011, in 2012 that dropped a bit, in 2013 and 2014 we get next to nothing except a million hats that nobody wanted and some underpowered/useless weapons, not only that but ALL UPDATES are nothing but cash cows, End of The Line was sliced and diced to death and only featuring hats, miscs AND A PAY 2 PLAY EVENT while we were promised new weapons, a new gamemode and map. The map was cut because "It's too confusing for new players" which is absolute **** because Valve has maps in the game which ARE EVEN HARDER THEN THE CUT MAP! You can still play the map on community servers, but it's still stupid that it isn't in the game, but yet harder maps are. If you thought End of The Line was bad, the Robotic Boogaloo is worse, 54 "New" hats! Oh sorry I meant 54 RESKINS of hats! While some are creative, most are just carbon copies of the original hats. Thirdly is the Source engine, it's an awful engine that needs TO DIE, hitboxes are terrible and the glitches make Ride To Hell look stable and well polished, crashes everywhere and game changing bugs like getting into spawns and more. As for the hitboxes, you can headshot someone BLOOD COMES FLYING OUT, and nothing.... while they shoot your toe and you instantly die.... Fourth is balance, the balance is everywhere in this game, let me tell you what I mean... Scout is alright, however he does have some gimmicky **** weapons like the Sandman and Flying Guillotine combo, he also has some useless weapons like the Sun on a stick and Back Scatter. Soldier is too good, a powerful and reliable arsenal of weapons makes him a top pick for tryhards, and all you see is them getting 50 points at the end of the match while 2nd place has like 20, Soldier is balanced, but when a pro uses him, there's no downsides. F*CK PYRO, Degreaser is absolutely broken and is a straight upgrade to all of the flamethrowers, plus VALVE KEEP IGNORING THIS WEAPON AND NERF EVERYTHING ELSE! I love how Pyro can be a crit wh*re but Heavy can't drop sandvichs to heal himself and Engineer not having the Pomson penetrate targets, so those are OP while Pyro kills 8 of the 9 classes without any skill/thought? 11/10 Demoman used to be overpowered, but recently he's been reworked and I like it, he's still strong as hell though but better then he used to be. Heavy is balanced in my eyes, too bad everyone wants to nerf his Minigun while Pyro gets away again. Engineer is annoying, but not overpowered. Same goes for Medic. Sniper suffers from the same issues I have with nearly ALL sniper classes, "If you can aim, there's no downside or counter!" seriously, try and fight a sniper who can aim GOOD LUCK! There needs to be a longer delay when you can headshot people and not do BS quick scopes. Spy is annoying, but the only issue is the Ambassador, it suffers from the same issue with the Sniper, but I think it needs a rework since it's a straight upgrade to all the Revolvers. Plus Valve are slow as **** to nerf weapons, it took 3 years for them to fix the Mini Sentry from healing itself when being built, AND 6 YEARS TO OVERNERF THE AXTINGUISHER! There are a truck load of more complaints, however there is one thing I like about this game and it's the characters. All of them are well developed, fun and very memorable and they are easily the best part of the game, I love watching SFM videos of them, I love reading the comics, I love GMOD videos on them, honestly I love everything about them, too bad the game their in is ruined.

Before DOTA 2 I've never played or heard of the original DOTA, but when I watched the trailers and heard what the game was like from fans, I WAS HYPED! But then I installed it... Boring gameplay, it's just click here and click there, look if I want to click stuff, I would play Putt Putt, a Telltale game OR just surf on the internet. There are other MOBAS out there which are more interactive and fun like SMNC or Awesomenauts. Annoying voice acting from nearly all the characters who WILL NOT SHUT UP! I swear you breathe they talk, you move they talk, YOU DO ANYTHING AND THEY TALK! A massive cash cow with a million overpriced hats for each character made by the community because Valve are too lazy to make their own. Awful racist and immature community, they bash anyone from Brazil or Russia even though they can't help it because the matchmaking is atrocious and lazily thrown together. The source "engine" makes games look nice, but for actual GAMING it's a buggy mess which always crashes and has the worst hitboxes ever aside from Crimecrap Gangbangwars. Plus I love how fake the trailers are, the trailers make the game look intense and crazy, instead it's just who can click faster and collect the most hats! Nice false advertisement Valve! Overall this is easily one of the worst experiences I've had in gaming, if you want to have a fun MOBA experience, play Awesomenauts or SMNC, this is the worst piece of **** MOBA has ever produced.

Monday Night Combat is an unbalanced **** mess that's dead, if you want to play this you need to find friends or join a steam group. Theres no reason to play no one besides the Sniper and Assault, Gunner is just a slow target, same goes for Tank, Support can maybe help but even then he's next to useless without airstrike and firebase spam and Assassin dies in one hit. The game's sequel while F2P is a million times better, no one hit **** The atmosphere is amazing along with blitz, the game's only strong points. Overall skip this **** and play the F2P sequel.

Evolve is a massive cash cow and a disgrace to gaming, it has anti consumer practices like day 1 DLC and a "PC Monster race edition" that adds nothing but more DLC, this game feels really empty without all the DLC and paying EXTRA to get features THAT WERE IN THE GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE is ****. Now that's out of the way how about the gameplay? Well it's decent at best, it gets very repetitive very quickly as the game only features one gamemode, YES I know there's more, but the only gamemode that anyone plays is Hunt while the others are never touched. Playing as the monster is kinda cool, but it should have been in first person, so I had an idea who I was killing. Playing as the hunters was boring for me because all of the characters feel like carbon copies of other FPS classes, except the Trapper who is unique. The story? It's terrible ESPECIALLY THE ENDING, and the game has next to new character, all of the characters are all bland and boring. The graphics while amazing, you do need a powerful PC for it to run on max settings, overall the world of Evolve looks great! Overall Evolve is a massive cash cow and a disgrace to gaming, plus I predicted that this game would suffer the same fate as Titanfall in my steam review, "Hyped with lots of DLC, dies within a month" and I was right, right now in the time of this review the original Killing Floor had more players (And it's dieing because of Killing Floor 2 and the lack of new content) then Evolve, that's a joke, like this game and it's precious DLC life support. Whenever you see 2K publish or Turtle Rock Studios develop a new game, just remember they **** out this massive lazy cash cow, and don't fall into the same trap, especially 2K, they love chopping up content and selling it as DLC, look at Borderlands 2, the Pre-Sequel and the Sid Meier's games, look at all that DLC they sell, and it's getting worse.

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
6
User ScoreBigbangrex
Apr 9, 2015
Enter the Dragonfly is a direct sequel to the original trilogy, however it plays like a mix between 2 and 3, where it mostly focuses on Spyro like in 2, however this game has a lot of minigames like in 3, and I think it's a nice balance overall. A lot of people complained about the load times and glitches, while yes the load times are long, they aren't AS long as people say, plus many glitches are minor, like missing sounds clips or clipping issues, there are bigger glitches but you won't notice them in your main adventure unless you purposely activate them, the biggest glitch I'm aware of is that you can fight the end boss without completing any level. Speaking of the boss, Ripto is back... despite burning in lava... he's back along with Crush and Gulp who you also killed in Spyro 2, Ripto is the final boss while Crush and Gulp are just... well there, and they bring nothing to the story, plus Ripto asks Spyro if he wants to join forces for some reason despite clearly stating that in Spyro 2 that he "HATES DRAGONS! RAHAASSQQASADB" and Spyro shoots him down while Ripto looks sad :c... what was the point of that? It's just filler pretty much. The game plays similarly to the original games except with worse controls and different level design, the controls aren't bad but from a game series which always had fantastic controls, why ruin one of the main features of the original franchise? The levels are nice and vaired, you have a farm which has invaded by space cows, a dojo with ninjas, dreamland with bears (Yes I'm serious they pulled a Carebears parody) and more. However this is possibly the smallest Spyro game which follows the same formula as the original games, as this game only has one large hub world, and due to time constraints Universal put onto the developers. This game does feature a lot of good things, Stewart Copeland returns once again to create some good music, the graphics look good and it feels like it's a Spyro game and it's still a collect-a-thon. Plus Enter the Dragonfly adds breaths into the series, you have fire the default attack, bubble for catching Dragonflies, electricity for doing puzzles and attacking enemies, and ice for freezing enemies, I really like this idea as it brings ideas for puzzles, weaknesses for enemies, and it's nice to see something else besides fire breath without bring a new character. Overall Enter the Dragonfly is overhated, yes it's not as good as the original trilogy and it's buggy, but it still offers a lot and is overall a fun experience, if you see this game go for a low price (and I mean a low price) pick it up, you might enjoy it, if you don't, I don't blame you.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game

User ScoreBigbangrex
Apr 6, 2015
Ghostbuster fans rejoice! We finally got an awesome game! This game is considered to be the third Ghostbusters movie since it takes place after the 2nd movie and has a good plot, and the return of some favourite ghosts and some ghosts who were mentioned in the movie like the Sloar but never seen in the movie. You play as a nameless rookie, right of the bat this is awesome because it makes you feel like a Ghostbuster, the rest of the group all call you rookie which is a nice touch, this would have been a fantastic opportunity to create your own character like in Saints row or the Sims, however you can't do that, plus the game should have been in first person and you never saw your character, this would make it feel like YOU WERE the new Ghostbuster, not playing AS the new Ghostbuster, but overall I enjoy playing as "Rookie" but I would have loved either character customization or a first person view. All the cast is back, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson all return to their roles and haven't changed a bit, all 4 are funny and just as memorable as they were in the movies and all the chatter in-between them felt like I was really there listening to them. All the ghosts are creative, and all of them are fun to take down with your Proton pack, speaking of which your Proton pack has 4 firing modes, but I'm not telling you what they are, why? Because you need to buy this game to find out yourself. The attention to detail in this game is amazing, the damage you leave on the walls with your Proton packs, crows flapping in the distance, all the small artifacts you can find in the levels and the best is exploring the Ghostbuster's HQ, trust me I love looking around in the HQ, it might be small but it's amazing. Plus the graphics are really good. This game is short and has no CO-OP or multiplayer, which I don't mind because this game already packs a lot of content with secrets, upgrades, the attention to detail, the ghosts, the cast and more! This game is a love letter to all Ghostbuster fans, if you enjoy the movies, there's no reason to say no to this game.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
5
User ScoreBigbangrex
Apr 6, 2015
This game is no where as good as the other Crash games, it suffers from a lot of issues besides the load times. Firstly the graphics are a downgrade from the original, they look less colourful and a lot less alive unlike the original trilogy and it just looks depressing overall. Plus what did they do to Cortex and ****? Cortex has a boxhead while **** is the scariest thing I've seen in a crash game, plus I don't like Aku aku's design here. Secondly there are 30 levels and all of them are massive, however 16 of these levels have vehicles/alternative playstyles besides platforming, YES 16! Why is there 16 vehicles? It's like the developers ran out of ideas for levels and just spammed 60% of the game with vehicles, most of these are passable, however vehicles like the sub are awful to play with. Thirdly Crash's controls are a downgrade from the original trilogy, they are passable here, but why did you downgrade from the awesome tight controls for this? Plus you have to unlock your abilities again which I'm fine with, but they only add one new one and it's useless, after the 1st boss you can sneak on top of Nitros which sounds cool, but you can't jump on them still AND it's only used a few times in the game and it feels gimmicky overall. Fourthly the bosses ****, basically in this game you have to fight 4 masks along with Crunch, all 4 of the masks have next to no character and are very forgettable plus easy as well, again why did you downgrade from the last Crash games? Crash 1's bosses were meh, Crash 2's bosses were alright, Crash 3's bosses were AMAZING, and this game's bosses are a joke, plus 3 of the mask battles are with vehicles while one and the final battle is with Crash alone which ****. And lastly there is next to no attention to detail in this game, in the original games there were the little things that made the levels more alive, like unique enemies for each stage, the water flashing with electricity in the sewers, Crash swimming through the mud in the Jungle and more, this game has none of that at all. Overall it's ok at best, but compared to the original games it lacks A LOT, except vehicles because this game has TOO MUCH of them.

I can see why people hate this game, but I like change if it's done correctly and well, this game is really good, instead of a collect-a-thon we have a Beat-em-up, Spyro like in Enter the Dragonfly has new breaths, Fire, Electricity, Ice and Earth, all 4 feel very useful in their own situations and neither outclass each other, there's also Convexity which is only used at the end boss, I also like how some enemies resist one element while vulnerable to another. The game looks really good and I enjoy the gameplay, I also like Cynder in this game a lot, she's badass when you see her fly around in the distance. The only downsides are... If you expect this to be like an old school Spyro game, it isn't and you properly won't like it. The game can become very linear. If you replay the game you cannot skip the tutorials for the new elements, which is very annoying. Very easy. The guardian dragons except Ignitus are pointless and add nothing besides teaching Spyro. This game is amazing, it's Zoo Tycoon with Jurassic Park characters! And a lot more! You have 4 types of Dinosaurs, Small/Large Herbivores and Small/Large Carnivores, all 4 groups bring unique dinosaurs from all 3 movies into one game to cause chaos! The game is actually quite challenging at times because of tornadoes destroying your park, diseases spreading and killing your dinosaurs and income from visitors. The best feature of this game has to be the fights, large carnivores have a chance to have a territory war, when they finish, the victor owns the territory while the loser runs away from them whenever they get near, HOWEVER the Tyrannosaurs Rex has a chance to spawn special fight scenes vs the following dinosaurs... Tyrannosaurs VS Ankylosaurus Tyrannosaurs VS Stegosaurus Tyrannosaurs VS Triceratops AND THE BEST ONE! This game was the reason I bought a 3DS, I loved Snake Eater on the PS2 and I was hyped to get this, and it was worth it, it's a fantastic port with some new features, like using photos you took on your 3DS as camo or the new crouch walk or as CDI-Link would say "The Duck Walk." The 3D in this game looks gorgeous, but sadly this game does suffer from framerate issues once and a while, however this isn't common and it only gets bad in a few parts in the game.
