Mass Effect 35
Jul 23, 2021
What good are professional critics for? The rated this almost as high as ME 2. While ME 1 and 2 deserve praise the third installment of the series does not. Missing skill and equipment development that makes a difference, story dragging on and without any real choices and most of all clunky, un-precise controls like swimming against a strong current that's Mass Effect 3. It really was a test of my endurance to see through the game just to get to know how Shepard's story ends. Yeah, predictable...

The Secret World10

I do not know how the game was in the early games. I am just beginning my journey. Yes, that's what it is all about: Exploring. Every single detail is thrilling. I find it highly impressive and of all the MMOs I've seen, the most original, being the least copy-cat to WoW (which in turn stole from Everquest and so on) To details: You choose your role ingame, so you enter as a generic character. So the three-slot-limit (across ALL servers) shouldn't hurt. But as there are three distinctive factions with differing story lines, and a great way of visually customizing your char I guess it will hurt. To this point it feels very much like a solo game. Although exploring the world together should be even more fun. Character build seems complex though I am not very much into that now. Great voice acting with every even slightly important NSC help creating an awsome atmosphere Bottomline is, I am awfully impressed and I have to go back to the game right now :) Edit: This review is about the classic TSW not the relaunched f2p Secret World Legends. Steam forcefully changed my game to the latter and it was awful. Awfully easy, awfully meaningless combat, dumbed down levelling system. Boring, although the story apparently remained the same. After some research I got back into the old game and everything's fine again.

LIMBO9

Neither platformers nor puzzle games are my sort of game. Having said that Limbo comes close to perfection in delivering fair puzzles and fun interaction. Toward the end some jump sequences are a tad to frustrating. I played the game with the aid of the walkthrough by Dekap which really adds to the experience. Its like playing a virtual coop. Great job there!

5 years ago I played it for 30 hours. Coming back to my save I find there are a lot of more accessible games out there, even ones almost as ancient like Sacred for instance. Doesn't make the cut anymore.

Beyond Good & Evil4

Clunky controls, linear gameplay, many platformer sequences, save system of dread and not that much of story. Of course outdated graphics but apparently they were never great. Don't really understand the hype around it. Wanted to play it for a long time. Now I did and left pretty soon again.

The start is nice, but then it just drags on and on. Very repetitious and no end in sight.

Game has not really a story. Play Borderlands instead. Borderlands or Borderlands 2.

The game's setup is a sitcom. This is an original idea. The music is good but with all the brass instruments nonetheless distracting. But anyway, this is truly a game for people with no other game available.

I didn't find the puzzles very logical. And with the few locations it gets quite monotonous. The story was okay. Not thrilling enough to go through it without a walkthrough.

Atmospheric yes, but tedious too. You have to work your way through every key. Did you miss one, there is indication of it. It just won't let you into further locations. Not a good way.

Endless Space 24

Inferior in every way to its predecessor. Clunky controls. There were times you wished for better information in "Endless Space". With ES 2 they went the other way. Incredibly slow game start. You can't do ANYTHING for the first couple of hours. I return happily to the superior, first version of the game!

It could have been great. Tense Atmosphere, great graphics. But they ruined it with two decisions: 1. The game is way too difficult and 2. Those Savepoints are too far apart. If you want to experience a horror game and your following the story you just don't want to try the same segment again and again because you haven't got enough ammunition, or those safe lantern places keep **** their light bulbs in the last moment before you reach them, or yet another group of foes appear and so on. Just doesn't work: Tense storyline and dying over and over and having to repeat the same over and over!

After having played the game for about 10 h it feels very repetitive. Combatsystem is rather crude, every few steps you have to endure loading times. The plot is foreseeable and there are neither variations nor surprises in it. I refrain from completing the game.

Good "Feel" to movement and weapon handling. Landscape and opponents get somewhat repetitive. Loot becomes less thrilling towards the end Siren's special ability is utterly useless. Does not motivate very much for a 2nd playthrough.

Crysis Warhead8

You play as Psycho a teammate of Nomad at events parallel to Main game. If you haven't played the main game before, events will be confusing. So it's meant to be played after Crysis. Other than Crysis itself it is without bugs or crashes, better graphics, smoother framerate! My run lasted for 9 hours and I consider this just about right for a shooter.

Star Wars: The Old Republic10

Granted, I am far from reaching endgame content. But the "origin" Story are almost all great, (except the Sith story,of all things which is surprisingly dull. With all those cutscenes and decisions it reminds me of Mass Effect. The music is really Star Wars. Movement could be smoother but hey that's a category World of Warcraft will always win. I like it very much and you really feel with your characters!

It's not a game. It's a e-guitar learning tool. And a good one at that! I could do without those "mini-games" however, most are not precise enough. But there are enough other features to teach you the guitar.

The Detail3

Way too short. And you won't have solved ANYthing by the end (which you will have reached after 60 minutes even if you played slowly and followed every hint). This is not the first episode. This are the first scenes of the first episode. But the worst: Right and the end the one and only mini game takes place. Decisive for the story and you have to read confusing instruction under time pressure for the first time. Add to this the fact that you cannot save the game (one automatic savepoint gets immediately overwritten) and you get an epic designer fail. Up to this point the game was at least an interactive TY-Show. After this it's not even interactive. So this game covers the first scene of a comic strip/animated TV-Series... Upsides: Drawings are good and characters are interesting. But that does not make up for the flaws. Not by a long shot ;(

Yes, you get killed a lot. But though I'm easily frustrated, in this game that doesn't stop me from coming back. You have 10 slots and classes play remarkably different, weapons feel different too. But what noone mentioned this game has certainly the best level design I ever experienced. So I really recommend it. And if you play use a game controller. As a PC player I always avoided them. But it is the your natural weapon of choice in this game and **** works!
