Based on the crimes of real-life Alaskan serial rapist/killer Robert Hansen, the film depicts an Alaskan State Trooper seeking to apprehend Hansen by partnering with a young woman, who escaped from Hansen's clutches. A typical Nicholas Cage film here. He goes about trying to uncover the identity and catch the serial killer with the reluctant help from Cindy Paulson (Vanessa Hudgens), who was formerly abducted and ****. Nothing too spectacular about this film in any way, in terms of plots and characters.

Before I Go to Sleep is a 2014 mystery psychological thriller film written and directed by Rowan Joffé and based on the 2011 novel Before I Go to Sleep by S. J. Watson. Christine Lucas (Nicole Kidman) plays the role of a woman who upon waking up every morning with no memory of her life from her early twenties onwards. Christine secretyly receives treatment from Dr. Nasch, a neuropsychologist at a local hospital who gives her a camera to record her thoughts and progress each day, and calls her every morning to remind her to watch the video in the camera... Amazing performance by Nicole Kidman. The pacing and tension are pretty well brought out. However, the plot is a little too simple, and does not have any unexpected twist to awe the viewers.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the sequel to Jurassic World. Set on the fictional Central American island of Isla Nublar, off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, it follows Owen Grady and Claire Dearing as they rescue the remaining dinosaurs before a volcanic eruption destroys it. The story falls short noticably compared to Jurassic World. The idea to use chasing and jump scare scenes right from the early stage right till the end is not a good one. The novelty does get wears off quickly after a while, and there isn't a good follow up to that. It is common sense to put in such scenes after a series of peaceful starting scenes like what it did on Jurassic World. And the chasing, horror scenes aren't that unique either, not unlike what we have seen in the previous films. The villains are also very one dimensional sterotypes villians. This and the fairly predictable plots make the film a pretty bad one. The only reason to watch this film is probably for the sake for catching on with the series. Not a good stand alone movie by itself definitely.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is the second Star Wars anthology film following Rogue One (2016), based on Han Solo. The plot takes place approximately ten years prior to the events of A New Hope, and explores the early adventures of Han Solo and Chewbacca, who join a heist within the criminal underworld. You shouldn't go into this with the same expectation anyone would have for the sequel trilogy ('The Force Awakens', 'The Last Jedi'). With that in mind, one should be mildly entertained by this movie. The casts did very well in their performance. I do have a problem with the plot though. It is decent, but just is not good enough to make this a good movie. The plots and scenes goes along the style of mindless action type, which I am usually not a fan of. There are some nice twists in the end, but even that feels like forced out of nowhere, implying there is a lack of cohesiveness in its execution. This is a decent watch on the whole. Just don't expect too much out of this film.

Ghost Stories revolves around a man (Philip Goodman) devoted to debunking fraudulent psychics, and who is tasked by a paranormal investigator (Charles Cameron) with investigating and solving three unexplained paranormal events To be honest, I am pretty bored with the plots and the scenes. Most of the so called scary scenes are mostly weak jump scares. I find it ridiculous that Phillip (the hardcore critic of the paranormal) kept believing paranormal are fake despite experiencing several paranormal activities first hand himself in the movie. The worst thing is that he didn't even bother to debunk them in the film with actions and real tests as a professional debunker of the paranormal. This severely undermines his credibility as a good debunker of the paranormal. Weak minded and disturbed is the impression that he gives with his personality and behaviours. There is a decent twist towards the end. I am not going spoil it here. The twist at the end is nice, but it is not developed enough to have any significant good effects on this overall mediocre film. Not worth a watch. Unless you have nothing better to spend on with your time.

The story follows journalist Brock (Tom Hardy) gaining superpowers after being bound to an alien symbiote whose species plans to invade Earth. I love complicated main characters with good and evil sides to their personality or agendas. In this movie, it is the righteous Brock who believes in uncovering the truth, even if it means going up against the rich and influential figures, without fear of the consequences. This point alone makes me like the character a great deal. Exuding fearlessness in the name of righteousness and truth is undeniably a very admirable trait in a meaningful purpose. When Brock gets infected with the symbiote parasite later, it gives him the power to stand up against the villainous force he has been fighting against morally. Though the idea isn't entirely original, it is nevertheless thrilling and gratifying to see a character you care about (yes, at the point where he got infected), to be able to kick asses in the most thrilling fashion. The parasite itself being not entirely benign, even violent and carnivorous against humans, makes their eventual physical and emotional bonding, a drooling, heart tingling, eye candy treat to savour. Tom Hardy puts up a very charismatic performance with his genuine, natural, light hearted humorous lines that can be heard throughout the film. Not a moment of cheesiness. A big thumb up for this! Why only a '7' for this movie? I would say the villain could be improved in terms of depth. Maybe if more were known about his past would be good. Making people care about characters including villains is one of the essentials to a good film. The story, though pretty decent, is not that amazing. The plots aren't that unpredictable. Some unexpected twists would really be nice. I feel that the film is a bit reliant on the amazing action chorography to make up for that. But still it is a crucial missing element that brings down the movie by at least half a notch. Verdict: Watch this movie!

The film follows a hard-drinking musician (Bradley Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Lady Gaga). The main reason why I went to watch this is mainly due to the raving good reviews I have come across on this film. I normally steer clear of music central films. And I am excited to see Lady Gaga in action, being somewhat a fan of hers. Pretty much I went into this with relative high expectation. The pacing of the film is slow. What is worse is that the story itself is a torture to watch through. It is so simplistic that I could predict how the film would end. This is really bad. Halfway through the film, I felt like leaving the theatre. The only main good thing about this film is that the music are really wonderful and pleasing to listen to. But there are simply not enough of them in this film. It would have been better if the film focuses on making it more like a concert film, with mostly music performance and some light story in between. I do not recommend watching this.

The plot... a destructive hurricane named Tammy approaches the town in Alabama. Treasury agent Casey Corbyn is ordered by fellow employee Randy Moreno to summon Breeze, who now works as a handyman, and whose brother Will is a meteorologist, to fix the generator at a cash storage facility. While she is out of the facility, rogue Treasury agents, led by Connor Perkins, infiltrate the facility and hold employee Moreno hostage. Their plan is to steal $600 million, and Perkins enlists computer hackers, Sasha and Frears, to crack the code of the vault. Failing to decrypt it, Perkins realizes that Corbyn may have changed it, so he has his men find her... The movie is made by the producers of the highly acclaimed 'The Fast and Furious' series. Naturally I have relatively high expectation going into this. The first thing that caught my attention is the top notch voice acting, nothing too cheesy or over the top. This film focuses heavily on action which scenes are flawlessly complemented by immersive background music. It does an excellent job at that. Also, the breath taking disaster scenes plus the well choreographed actions sequences make it double the fun. However... this movie falls heavily short on the story/plot aspect, it is just too simple and predictable, and wasted away the potential for the making **** film, evidenced by the poor box office performance.

No doubt many would be drawn to watch this due to its link to the conjuring series with the evil nun entity which briefly appeared in its series. The plot follows a priest and a Catholic novitiate who are sent to investigate the death of Sister Irene. Frenchie, a guy who is tasked with transporting supplies to the nun, is also tasked with meeting up with them and bringing them to the abbey. A series of strange, evil occurrences follows in their brief stay at the cursed abbey... The scare scenes in this movies follow the likes of the Insidious series, thus it does nothing much for me it terms of scare. I do appreciate the amount of effort put into making the creepy atmosphere, with the eerie scenes and suspenseful soundtrack. This is an okay horror movie to watch, neither spectacularly good, nor is it atrociously bad.

Murder on the Orient Express is a mystery drama film directed by Kenneth Branagh with a screenplay by Michael Green, based on the 1934 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. The plot follows Poirot, a world-renowned detective, as he seeks to solve a murder on the famous trans-European train in the 1930s. Detective based mystery murder cases usually make for good plots. However, the film brought out the storytelling in an old fashioned way, much like a 60s, 70s movie. I would say this film takes itself too seriously for its own good. There is not a single light or funny moment in the entire film. Other than the mystery to find the murderer on the train, there really isn't anything much to the film.

Marvels surprises us with a well made sequel of the Thor franchise series, and in my opinion surpasses even its predecessors, because it tries to portray the series in a completely different light this time round. Plots are excellent with many good twists. Characters are memorable and entertaining to watch, including even minor characters. Voice acting is excellent for the most parts. The funny lines, though a bit too many throughout the film, were genuinely of good taste and really funny. One can't help but feel genuinely entertained by this film.

A single mother is abducted by a mysterious organization that injects chemicals into her and subjects her to fear-inducing experiences to further their dark agenda. She found many other captives who went through the same thing, in the facility where she was held captive. Each was forced to face and experience their worst fear as deliberate experiments. The settings of the facility were particularly unimpressive, with bad colour combination, nothing compared to the Saw series, which falls under a similar genre. It really spoils the whole film, since it's really visually crap to watch through. Scares and horror moments feel clichés and forced. Too many unexplained make the film feels incomplete towards the end, especially since a sequel usually seems unlikely with this type of bad film.

Based on the bestselling book series by highly acclaimed author Stephen King, The last Gunslinger, Roland(Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which hold the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the epic battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black. -- I begun watching this with mixed expectation. Was a bit disappointed to see yet film based on 'kids'. That alone makes it hard to take the film seriously. It's a fact there is a limit to how well kids can act compared to full fletched young adult or adult actors/actresses. The ideas and concepts are good. Though not exactly original, with respect to demons eyeing to dominate human world. They still make a good general concept for a good story. However the idea that kids' minds (after being strapped to machines) can be used to destroy the tower, is a really silly concept. I generally like the film as I was watching it. The pacing is alright. Actions are well choreographed. The plots lack depth, and have the problem of being kinda predictable. Characters are all underdeveloped for the most part, except for Roland where the film shows some key aspects of his past. The villain (Man in Black) is pretty cool and ruthless, and have some nice abilities, most notably the ability to command any human to do what he commanded at will, with a simple spoken command. It would be nice if the film delve deeper into his background character and his past. If you like The Mortal Instruments (film), give this a watch. Plot: 3.5/5 Characters: 3/5 Action: 4/5 Worth a watch in cinema: Yes, if you like action and okay with simple plots.

I have not watched the first Ant Man movie. This is a Marvel production. Can't go wrong with, right? I was so wrong on that. I went to watch this, because of the generally favourable reviews. Boy was I in for a great disappointment. This doesn't feel like a good Marvel film. It's all mindless action from beginning to the end. Chasing after the miniature of the lab building like a game of soccer. It's so bad that it feels like a 90s grade B movie, eg a little like 'Spy Kids', all actions and no depth. I do like some of the lines which are genuinely funny and natural. A few lines are rather cheesy. Character development is close to none, meaning you get stereotyped characters which feels like they are only there to fill the roles. It's a very bad thing if you watch a movie and don't feel inclined to care about its characters, unlike the Avengers series. The villains are especially boring and seriously under developed. I wished I have never gone to watch this.

Want a horror movie of substance and depth? Look no further. 'Hereditary' is likely going to be the horror movie of the year, surpassing even the critically acclaimed 'A Quiet Place'. Just when I thought it is going to be another 'predictable' jump scare ridden movie, this film outclasses other horror movies by having close to no jump scare at all, and manages to shine in every aspect of what an excellent all rounded movie should be, where most other films of the same genre fail miserably so many times. It replaces tiresome jump scare with intense emotional tension and well conjured creepy atmosphere throughout the film. What stands out is this film focuses more on well crafted, intricate storylines and superb characters development than the horror aspect, which ironically makes this a great horror movie. The emotional tension between the characters in the film is really intense, built up from the start at the right pace along with amazing plots and surprising twists, up til towards the end (except the ending part which I dislike a lot). The acting of the main characters is top class, bringing out what this film has to offer in the most satisfying way ever, as far as great movies are concerned. I would have given this film a '9' if not for the ending. Go watch this, and get the Blu ray version as well!

The idea that a ghost/dead is inclined to kill and haunt a company which created guns which killed his loved ones and himself is really ridiculous. The story revolves around a family (of 4, after the youngest son died) being 'stuck' in a farm, where its general surrounding (and likely the entire rural country side area) is being roamed by three flesh eating aliens/monsters. These monsters are unique in that they are blind, but highly sensitive to loud sounds/noises, which they rely sorely on for hunting preys. The first early part of the film has slight problem on the pacing. Things start to get tense when the family members in the film got separated, and subjected to traumatic, life threatening attacks by the monsters, after an accidental loud noise in the house attracted them directly to the farm. Other than the horror aspect, the family love/bonding aspect is reflected very strongly, and brought out in an emotional, though sad way. This is an above average horror movie you should consider watching, even if you are not a fan of horror films. By the way, I read some of the negative reviews, which are mostly complaints about illogical parts in the film. Seriously, it is impossible to make a 'good' horror film if the film maker has to to be logical to the dot. Horror and science fiction is about make-believe made into a story. In fact, if every film is subjected to high level scientific scrutiny in the logical aspect, almost all films (especially horror and sci-fic genre) will be **** If the film never mention about any logic aspect of any plots or ideas in the film, it is either meant to be unknown or open-ended. If you want the proper answer, ASK the director or screen writer. If you want logic based video productions, go watch science documentaries. Do not consider watching any horror/sci fic films, since they will all seem illogical to you. And if this movie is a bad horror film, then what is a good horror film? Name any title that qualifies that. lol
