Just Cause 37
Dec 21, 2015
Solid game, but not for everyone. First of all you need to do a little research about Just Cause games. About 99% of your activities in Just Cause are things that you would describe as side activities in other games. Main story is meh and not the main part of the game. Just Cause can shine if you play it for 1-2hrs at the time, have some fun and move on. Great game to relax with, but if you're on of those guys that jump into new game and play it for 12 straight hours, you will have a miserable time. Just Cause is quite repetitive, has close to no difficulty and relies on your imagination. Not for people who go from objective to objective. Nice graphics, no drops below 60fps on GTX970, no bugs so far. Lots of fun.

Heroes & Generals0
Jun 23, 2015
Ignore the Free 2 Play part. If you ever played theHunter you will know what to expect here. Heroes and Generals is basically a game with subscription fee. 10€ for a month or 20€ for 3 months. Forget about playing without veteran membership. First few hours might seem ok. You can use semi auto rifle or smg, 3 factions to chose from. 3 maps available at first, games feel quite balanced. Then, as you rank up, you are thrown into games with big boys. You will still have just your gun (maybe slightly upgraded) and few grenades but suddenly you're facing tanks, armored cars, planes, snipers that kill you with one shot etc. And that isn't even the worst part. You spend your last credits on Anti-tank launcher to have any way of fighting back, maybe buy some mines as well. You jump into a game and quickly spot lots of tanks just shooting everywhere, destroying your teammates. You go for a nice flank and blow them up with your launchers and mines. Without enemy tanks shelling at them, your teammates can progress and cap the points, pushing enemies back. You win the game and feel like the real hero! Sounds good? Then comes the repair bill. You will probably ask: "What do you mean? What repair bill?" Oh, you didn't know? It's this cool, innovative feature, that isn't explained very well in the game either. Using your equipment cots money. After a game you have to repair your gun, it's modifications, replenish ammo, grenades, rockets, mines etc. You won't notice it at first, but eventually you will realise "I have no more grenades!" and then you have to pay. You pay with in-game currency. You can't buy it with $$, it's earned after playing games. No P2W **** here. Your actions will earn you some money, plus you get a salary if you played 50% of the game or at least 10 minutes. Salary is based on your rank. It still sounds quite good, even if the idea of paying for bullets in a shooter game feels strange. Very soon you realise first problem - I'm not earning enough credits. What costs me so much? Short answer: everything. You are earning maybe 3k per game. Weapon mods cost 20k+, shovel (melee weapon) 14k, binoculars - over 30k, new weapon 60K+. Each weapon mod for bolt action is around 50k. Single use of mine - 1k. Imagine this: new game, your team is destroyed by enemy tanks. You grab AT launcher and flank them. 3 shots later, enemy tank is gone. That's around 1,5k you just used. Destroy one more tank and you will not get any profit in this round. This can't be real, can it? How can you boost your income and be able to afford anything new? Buy veteran membership that will boost your xp gain (get new ranks and higher salary quicker) and earn extra credits for every fight. Someone might say you can still play without spending rl money, but if you do that you need to do the following thing to earn credits: - pick weapons without any mods - jump into games just to grind credits That means: not using grenades at all. Ignore the explosives and weapon mods. Enemy tank killing your mates? Ignore it. It's too expensive to blow him up. When you grind money, you make yourself very weak on purpose. You're the worst equipped guy on your team just to save enough money for later. There is no point of playing this game without veteran membership subscription. They might as well add in-game message when you try to blow up enemy tank "Destroying enemy tanks is feature reserved only for veteran membership owners." or show you an info "You just wasted xxx credits." after each grenade used.

Grand Theft Auto V7

I have spent around 35 hours in GTA V, having lots of fun. I almost finished single player mode. Almost... After those 35 hours I decided to take a small break. To my big surprise I'm still on that break and I'm not even slightly tempted to go back. Initially I loved the game. After first ~15 hrs it felt like 10/10. Graphics were great, optimization amazing, fun gameplay and I loved implementation of 1st person perspective. The more I played the more flaws I saw. I liked the characters at first but as the story continues I realized how little personality they have. Franklin earns some money, moves to a fancy house and then his story pretty much ends. Michael has several problems with his family which leads to a bunch of different missions. The problem is - his family is quite horrible, I hated his wife and stupid kids. I get it - he loves them and wants to help them, but I couldn't care less about these characters, which made all those missions extra boring. Trevor felt like the most interesting character out of those 3. But then we witness him doing something awfully stupid. One good thing - his missions are most fun, lots of versatility, creativity. Overall there are too many missions that simply aren't very interesting. All the set-up missions for heists are terrible. I'd like to see more missions that include flying as well. Side activities. There are plenty and that's it. Shooting range was fun, I enjoyed hunting and... that's it. You don't get any decent rewards for them and they are not fun enough to just keep doing them. You can buy some busineses. They cost plenty, award you with some crapy mini-missions and give you lousy income. Basically, they're a waste of time. Earning money is difficult outside of main missions, but on the other hand there's nothing to spend it on. Forget about buying houses (not worth it) or cars (you will be stuck with personal vehicles anyway), so after you buy some guns and upgrades for personal vehicles, you're done. Walking around and exploring works for a while then it gets old. There's only a few "random" encounters, you won't find any cool hidden items. Best thing I found was a bunch of topless ladies near some pool, behind a fancy house. There's plenty of things to do in GTA 5, but only very few of them I found entertaining and actually worth doing. The main story and characters are in my opinion significantly worse than in previous GTA games. Overrated game but still can be enjoyable for a while. Get it when it goes on a sale. PS: I didn't like the Online mode at all.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor9

Quick version: It's like an Assassins Creed that doesn't ****. I bought this game for 2 reasons: 1. It was cheap - around 15$. 2. There is one more week untill GTA 5 and I have nothing to play. I' ve read some reviews before, watched a couple of videos. I've heard it's good but at the same time it didn't look like a game I'd enjoy. Surprise, surprise. It is good and I'm loving it. First of all, my 2 cents about issues mentioned in negative reviews: It's not for hardcore LoTR fans. Mostly because they can't be pleased by anything other than the book trilogy. Personally, I don't care if the lore is perfect. The story if fine, I enjoyed it. PC controlls. I'm playing it with mouse + keyboard and it works well. No issues with camera or weird controlls. It's quite intuitive and easy to learn. You have bloody tutorials with explaination + video for every single move, so I can't understand why some people say that they can't learn it. Combat isn't difficult, nor is it too easy. You can get overwhelmed by enemies, some bosses are a pain in the ass. It gets better as you progress your character. What I enjoyed the most: Combat. The game is mostly about fighting and the combat is really fun. A whole bunch of different moves, fluid, interesting, challenging. On top of that SoM has one of the best animations, I've ever seen. Progression system is interesting and keeps the game interesting. You always have some new upgrades waiting for you, my fighting style was changing with every new unlocked ability. Side quests give you decent rewards. Most of them are quite enjoyable with multiple ways of finishing them. There aren't tons of similar missions that feel like a chore. It's not as repetitive as AC series. Overall I'm very happy with this game, especially for that price. ~30-40 hours of entertainment.

King's Bounty: Dark Side7
Mar 26, 2015
I find it difficult to rate this one. On one hand it has more features than previous games and more content but on the other hand it feels unpolished. We have some new skills, spells, units and other cool features like capturing prisoners and turning them into undead or demon units, but there's always something... New skills sound good but many of them are quite useless, same issue with new spells. Rage abilities - why can't they ever be balanced? Once again - you will use some of them extensively and ignore the rest. New units - great, but I'm still using the old ones. Few special abilities got re-balanced as well. Quests are now more complex but it comes with a price, too often we're not given clear explanation what to do next. I got stuck a couple of times, some of them are very unintuitive and we end up either checking online for solutions or just visiting every single spot on every map. Dark Side has some pros and cons, but at the end of the day it's still a very solid game. If you finished every other KB title, give it a try. Combat is still fun and challenging and that's what matters the most for me.

I have to admit that I haven't played a lot of it but the game is quite fun actually. It's quite refreshing to have a BF title that focuses mainly on infantry combat. No more vehicle camping noobs that keep bragging about their skill and start numerous petitions to nerf anything that can damage them. The pace is extremely fast in most of the games. Bullets flying everywhere, it's quite chaotic but still very enjoyable. My main complains: Starting kits - they're terrible, so any new player is forced to grind money to grab any weapon that doesn't ****. Exclusive weapons that came with more expensive versions of the game. Currently you can't obtain those weapons in any other way. On top of that I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of weapons and ONCE AGAIN devs made the same mistake of mixing medic class with best available weapons, so everyone and their dog is runing an operator.

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft0
Jan 5, 2015
I've watched a video where certain youtuber recommended Heartstone. This game was supposed to be fun, addictive and with decent f2p model. Well, f*** anyone who recommends this. Free to play? Cool, lets try it out. I was a bit sceptical. I mean - we're talking about Blizzard - the company that butchered and ruined WoW and Diablo series just for some extra money, but maybe they changed their ways? It actually it is free, so anyone can test it. The beginnings were quite fine. Couple of battles that teach us basic mechanics, everything looks nice, gameplay is smooth. Then we get access to training battles, we get to unlock new classes (each comes with some class-specific cards), we unlock more basic cards and try to build our own decks. First few hours were really enjoyable. I was having fun, playing against AI, playing some battles vs other players. I've completed some "tasks" or "quests" and got some extra cards. Then I tried playing training vs expert AI. Turns out it means that AI just uses better cards. I was beaten several times, all those rare/epic cards make a ton of difference. Then I've tried unlocking all the basic cards for all the classes. That was a big mistake. It seems like matchmaker rather than looking at your win/loss ratio checks the level of your characters. Try unlocking all the basic cards (which means leveling all the characters till lvl 10) and suddenly you're fcked. I've done all those leveling against AI then I played 10 games versus other players. First day of playing I went 6-1. Not bad. Second day (after some leveling) I went 0-10. Yes, 10 losses. 9 of those games I've faced opponents who had max ~5 basic cards (out of 30). Better cards give MASSIVE advantage. I've even tried looking for some builds that include just basic cards, but I didn't make any difference. Last fight was quite ok: playing against a guy that only used basic cards - just like me. Close fight, going head to head for 8 rounds. Then he pops 2 legendary cards and I'm done. Long story short: I need better cards if I want to have any chance of winning vs other players. How do you get them? 1. Spend $$ 2. Play the single player campaing - which costs $$ to unlock 3. Grind gold (virtual currency) to buy extra packs You can get gold by: winning vs other players (10 gold per 3 wins). Completing daily quests: 40-60 gold per quest. 2 quests per day. Single pack costs 100 gold. It contains 5 cards, usually 1-2 rare cards in a pack. You can't complete quests playing vs AI. I can either pay money or grind for weeks, months while getting beaten by everyone because matchmaker ****. F*** this game.

Short version: decent, fun game, has a lot to offer but it also has some major flaws. I haven't really spend that much time with DS 1, since I got quite disappointed that RPG elements were marginal and it was mostly action game. I've got convinced by one of my friends to try out DS 2. He claimed that DS 2 got vastly improved compared to DS 1 and I should give it a shot. This time I was well aware that I'm going after action title and my expectations were lowered so in theory nothing should go wrong. Unfortunately the beginnings were far from great. Any PC user that tried playing DS knows how badly ported it was. I honestly couldn't believe that in that area not much have changed. You don't need mouse fix anymore and the game is playable on keyboard+mouse combo, BUT you better think about binding your regular and strong attacks to keys. Some special attacks (guard break, jumping attack) just refuse to work if you use LMB/RMB + forward. They do work for forward + (insert some binding, like "R" key). Rough start, eh? All the in-game cues point you to controller bindings, so you better get ready to memorize what binding is "X", "Y", "RT" etc. On top of that tutorial once again only covers most basic elements of the game. If you want to learn anything more complex - get ready to spend hours reading guides and DS 2 wiki. This time I just got over it and started enjoying the game. The game can be challenging and bring a lot of fun. I'm enjoyin it but I want to mention some of the issues I've had with this game so far. Don't get me wrong: I'm not trying to discourage players from buying it, but rather warn them what problems they might encounter. If those problems won't bother them then by all means get the game and enjoy it. Lets get to the issues that piss me off the most: 1. PvP I love PvP, but to be precise, balanced and fair PvP. DS 2 has a potential to offer that if lag could be fixed or matchmaker reworked. But what if you're not in the mood for PvP? What if you're a complete newbie that just wants to complete PvE content? **** it. No other way of avoiding PvP unless you go offline and give up your ability to summon players for co-op. In your first playthrough you will get clubbed over and over again by players with PvP focused characters. Expect to get invaded in the middle of a fight, when you're low on hp and/or spell uses just to be 1 hit and loose humanity. Expect to get invaded by more than one player if you visit ceratain areas. Matchmaker itself is designed in a way that will mostly punish new players. Your power level is decided by how many souls have you spent so far. Basically if you buy a new spell/armor/weapon just to test it, even if it turns out that it **** and you'll never use it again, game decides that your character just got stronger. PvPers that only get the essential items for their build will get even more advantage over you. Anyway, you just have to live with it, so what else might ruin your day? Lets see: - Level design. I've never encountered in any other game so many moments where I felt the game developers added some elements just to troll me. I get it - you need to be carefull all the time to survive, but a sudden hole filled with poison, all the lava pits, cliffs etc. Too many times I had to discover that blocking some attack will still knock me back far enough to fall into water and die. And of course there's also a lovely bridge with a hole in the middle of it and all those ledges where you are almost sure that you can make the jump only to die. Moreover I fell like most of the areas are quite boring and there are hardly any memorable boss fights but that's just my opinion. Another issue I've discovered when I decided to play evenly on two characters: pure caster and pure melee. Well, the balance ****, **** really bad. There are maybe a couple of areas where I was feeling more comfortable on my melee character rather than on my caster. It gets even more obvious if you use co-op for fighting bosses. On a caster you just stand back and nuke with hard hitting spells, while melee blocks, dodges, rolls only to get 2s window for hitting the enemy and repeat. Face it, in PvE caster has easier life. Oh, the story is almost non-existant, but I really don't mind it. To be honest, I've expected more. We deserve the proper support for mouse+keyboard and some aspects of the game require serious polishing. On the other hand, if you can live with all the problems I mentioned above, you're up for a great experience and many, many hours of fun.

Amazingly bad clone of WarZ. I can't name a single good thing about this game. It's pretty much WarZ where you replace zombies with mutants. If you want any more proof that something is very, very wrong with this game just look at all those fake positive reviews posted by brand new accounts.

Fallout 310

I am a huge fan of Fallout 1 and 2 and that's why I was really worried about this game. I didn't believe Bethesda has what it takes to create a game that will satisfy the fans. I found Oblivion disappointing at least, so when I first started Fallout 3 I didn't have high expectations. The beginning is quite unusual, starting as a baby and taking your first steps, then progressing through some events of your childhood. It felt really weird, but it served as a decent tutorial. At the end of it we leave the vault. Blinding sun effect fades and we witness the postapocaliptic wasteland. It was just how I imagined it, dirty, brutal and unforgiving, but this time from first person perspective - making it even more real. I was lost for countless hours wandering around, trying to survive, exploring, fighting... and listening to great radio podcasts. Finally I realised that I have some storyline to progress. Oh, right... The main story was good, side quests are great, combat system is fluid and encounters are challenging. Exploring the world, wandering through wasteland is more fun than exploring of Oblivion or Skyrim will ever be. More importantly - watseland is unforgiving. It takes a really long time to feel comfortable wherever you go. You never know if a lonely abandoned town you decided to visit will be just a quiet place or a death trap full of deadly deathclaws that will rip through your power armour with ease. Will there be an epic item waiting there for you? Well, there was a really annoying talking armour that got me addicted to chems... and I loved it! Sure, the character developement could be better, we could use some extra weapons, more quests, etc.; but at the end of the day I'm a vault dweller travelling through wasteland with his supermutant friend and listening to climatic songs on the radio.

Surprisingly good. At first glance this game doesn't seem to be great in any way. Graphics and music are ok, the story is decent. Locations look fine. Then you get into combat and nothing else matters. Kill the enemies, find more enemies to kill. I just couldn't get enough of the combat system. After finishing the game for the first time (which took about 8 hrs) I immidiately started over with a different character. The combat is addictive. It's brutal, fast paced and fair. Kick the enemy from the ledge, sneak up on them and stab them or just charge at them with a huge sword. If we only had this combat system in Skyrim...

This is easily one of the best games I've played in my life, especially if you add some mods (1.13 mod preferred). Forget the most recent "Back in Action" cashgrab attempt, stick to JA2. It is almost unelieveable that this game can still bring a lot of fun after so many years. Proper tactical turn based combat, incredible amount of options make this game fun to play no matter how many times I've already finished it. There's always a different strategy, different approach. Each walktrough is unique and most importantly very enjoyable. It saddens me when I see all of those modern games with fancy graphics but poor gameplay. You just finish them in a couple of hours nad never bother wit them again, while in 1.13 mod I had single battles that lasted about an hour. Just try it.

Once a very interesting game that continues to get worse and worse. The worst problems are: Completly messed up matchmaking. The system that used to be clear and simple got replaced and now we have MM based on BR (battle ratings) of each plane. The spread is way too big and on top of that we have ridiculous modifiers. For example players that perform really well in a couple of games in the row will get matched against opponents with better planes. No, you won't get matched agains more skilled players, but rather vs more powerfull planes. Similarly, after a few bad games you will get enemies in weaker planes. The system is basically rewarding bad players and punishing good ones. It's not unusal to see players crashing their planes on purpose to eventually get matched against really bad opponents and dominate them. Secondly, money-grabbing system. It gets more and more ridicculous. The grind keeps getting worse and playing without premium account that speeds up your progression gets pointless after a certain level. We also have premium planes. Those can only be obtained with rl money. Way too often when they get released they offer incredible performance with low Battle Rating. The only downside, seems to be their price. Then, a couple of months later, their stats get significantly nerfed. But don't worry, there's new premium plane available - limited offer - great performance, great cost. Russian bias. Russian developers work really hard on making russian airforce the best one available. Realistic approach towards plane's stats is only used for other nations. Some tech trees (Japan) aren't completed and require a lot of work, but devs keep on adding new overperforming russian planes. It's been like that since the game got released so it doesn't seem like anything's going to change. Lack of communication between devs and players. Appearently devs have a clear vision what they want to achieve with this game. Player feed back is irrelevant. Positive feedback is allowed, neagative one - not. Mods go as far as removing posts, editing them, bannig people and locking+deleting threads that contain the posts they'd rather not see. Latest bigger patches (1.37, 1.39, 1.41) that brought many negative changes caused a lot of pople posting it on the forums. Needless to say, all of the official topics where ppl discussed changes got deleted because there was a lot of negative feedback. Asking (politely) why my posts got edited to the point where no longer made sense got me a warning - without any explaination. I strongly advise to stay away from this game.

Might & Magic X: Legacy0
Jan 30, 2014
The release of M&M X was quite a surprise for me. I wasn't following any news about it even though I consider myself a big fan of the series (especially M&M 6). After getting some info about the game I got really excited about it. Moder remake of old-scool RPG - yes please! The beginings weren't very impressive. Character creation system seemed unimaginative and available classes look very imbalanced when it comes to what each of them can offer. After creating my first group of adventurers I was ready for some action. First things that struck me were graphics and movement. Graphics do feel oldschool but I'm not sure if that is a good thing. Movement is just so oldschool that it is a big step back compared to M&M 6 - released almost 16 years ago... There is absolutely zero freedom about moving around - we can only follow square tiles - yep, squares, not even hexagons! It makes even simplest chores as running around town frustrating experience and it takes at least a couple of hours to get used to it. Difficulty is also worh mentioning. Playing on warrior - more difficult mode - the only challange is to create a good party of characters. Playing the game for ~15 hrs I can only tell that physical damage dealers are mostly wasted character slots and while my first group of mixed classes was having lots of trouble with some enemies, my second group - full of casters - was just destroying everyone. Hint: instead of heavy armored tank you might want to choose a mage with a set of defensive spells. Combat is another step back from M&M6. Most of the time we fight less than 4 enemies at the time. Real time combat is gone. Whenever we get engaged i melee combat we can't move... The list goes on and on so the fact remains - seemingly simple combat that M&M series would offer us got simplified even further making it less enjoyable, more random and basically - worse. Don't get me wrong - the game can be quite fun at times. But I couldn't stop the feeling that I would have much more fun playing M&M 6 one more time. At this point I would rate the game around 6 or 7, simply because after some time you kinda get used to all those frustrating mechanics and you can focus on having fun BUT: After about 15 hours played the game crashed. Ok, happened before, no big deal. After launching the game again I realised ALL of my saved games were gone. Boom! Game over, play again? No, thanks.

Singleplayer might be just an addition to the game but is simply awfull. It's the worst singleplayer I've seen in over 15 years of gaming, with messed up story, plain boring characters, bugs around every corner and not even a little bit fun. Which is even worse you need to complete it in order to unlock weapons for multiplayer. Multiplayer on the other hand has a lot of potential but players are brutally punished by a rushed release of the game. It's been over 3 weeks since the release and a bunch of patches has been released. Unfortunatelly they only fixed a few of the problems. The biggest ones still persist: - optimalization issues on many different PC setups - game freezing - long map loading times (unless you have SSD) - poor netcode - random game crashes On top of that we have poor class/vehicle/weapon balance and most of the maps are way too small. Anyone who tried playing Zavod with 64 players will know what I mean. Battlefield 4 can become a great game... someday. Right now it needs A LOT of patching and minor fixes instead of rushing with DLCs. Game is not worth the money yet.
