**No Spoilers** Keeping the nostalgia aside, I genuinely feel that this isn't just a great Spider-Man or superhero movie, it's a great movie, period. This film doesn't rely on an earth **** threat or massive spectacle to make an impact. Instead, it succeeds because of its emotional depth, strong character growth, and its message of hope for a brighter tomorrow. It takes a lot of risks, and they pay off in a way I rarely feel a superhero movie has in recent years. From a character perspective, this is the best Spider Man development I have ever seen. Every emotional moment lands perfectly. I've always felt that Tom Holland was the weakest live-action Spider-Man compared to the others, but his performance in Brand New Day might just be my favorite portrayal of the character yet. Unlike the previous MCU Spider-Man films, this movie puts Spider-Man himself at the center of the story, and Tom Holland delivers from start to finish. It truly feels like the events of the last film have shaped Peter Parker, taking him from a young adult into adulthood. Holland captures that journey beautifully through his charm, awkwardness, vulnerability, and emotional maturity. I've loved Sadie Sink ever since she was introduced in Stranger Things. The character she plays in this movie happens to be “MY FAVORITE MARVEL CHARACTER OF ALL TIME” (and my second-favorite comic book character ever, after Batman). I won't say anything more to avoid spoilers, but she was fantastic, and I can't wait to see more of her in this role. Few Highlights Best Performance: Zendaya as MJ Best Duo: Tom Holland (Spider-Man) & Jon Bernthal (Punisher) Best On-Screen Pair: Jon Bernthal (Punisher) & Zendaya (MJ) Best Friendship: Spider-Man & Detective DeWolff Best Character Growth: Spider-Man & *_* **** Best Smash: Hulk Behind the camera, Destin Daniel Cretton's direction gives the film a fresh identity that is clear in every scene. The cinematography is a step up from the previous MCU Spider-Man movies, but the real unsung hero is the color grading. The colors, contrast, and overall visual presentation give the film a distinct visual identity that perfectly complements its tone and atmosphere. Finally, while I don't think the script or story is likely to win any Oscars, it's easily one of the strongest superhero screenplays in recent years. Compared to many recent superhero films, it feels far more focused, emotionally satisfying, and well written.

I didn’t want an origin story, but I wanted to know the characters. Instead, what I got was a good-looking film that understands Superman but ultimately fumbles through scenes after scenes, not taking the necessary time to properly establish the characters. None! Not one of the characters in this film had any kind of proper introduction. They’re just there wherever the plot needs them, and they do whatever the plot demands—but off-screen. Pros: • Every single cast member in this film is amazing. David is excellent as Superman. • It captures the essence of Superman, much like the original 1978 movie. • Lois Lane is fantastic, and the chemistry between her and Superman was a highlight. • The color palette of the movie is really well done.• Krypto wasn't the best boy, but yes, he’s... Yes, he is. • Mr. Terrific was probably the best and most well-rounded supporting character. • The Kent family is incredibly loveable.• Some fight sequences were really good. • Jimmy Olsen is the Man! Cons: • The underlying plot was solid, but the execution was not structured well. • The script’s pacing didn’t work. • The pacing of the movie felt like riding in a car that goes from 0 to 100 right after the opening credits and never slows down, even though there were plenty of speed bumps along the way. • The cinematography was disappointing, for the most part. • The direction, by James Gunn's standards, wasn’t great. • Lex Luthor, although Nicholas did his best, was written way too over-the-top. His backstory, motivations, and overall execution didn’t resonate. • Many good scenes were either cut or overshadowed by punchlines and visual gags that undermined their emotional weight. • Too many plotlines and characters took up screen time, which could have been better spent developing the core narrative. Ending Thoughts: It’s not a bad movie, but it’s not a great one either. It had its moments, but most importantly, it had the spirit of Superman going forward. I might not love this particular film, but I’m excited for what’s to come. Almost all of my negative opinions are aimed at James Gunn’s script and direction. I admire him so much as a creative individual, and he absolutely got the character of Superman right! Also, he’s great at building a cosmic universe and working with ensemble casts. However, as the entry point to the DCU, he really should have focused more on the story of Superman and the adjacent characters in the movie. I want the DCU to succeed, and I’m excited for what’s to come. I do think James Gunn is the perfect director for a Justice League movie, but until then, he should take a break from directing and focus on overseeing the studio’s projects and maintaining a clear direction for the rest of the DC Universe.
