Did not think it'd be my cup of tea based on trailer. Thought oh great another melodramatic romance, typical boy and girl from different sides of the train tracks -- NO. The characters are not cookie cutter at all. The relationship journey is so real and nuanced and engaging. The directing/acting/music -- it is top top notch. Ended up binging it in one day. Give it a go even if you think you won't like it.

Strong initial premise with lots of promise that ends up taking MASSIVE tangents most of the season and concludes with a dull thud. It is groundbreaking in certain aspects tackling sexuality, consensual sex, **** (both male-female, male-male). There are a number of great scenes/great moments however a small number of good episodes/storylines. The protagonist in the show is billed as a witty, cutting edge millenial writer yet often comes across as a complete airhead who sabotages her career in ways no adult would ever do. This inconsistency carries over in other ways when a heavy drama scene suddenly has corny jokes in there for no reason other than to indulge the showrunner. Ultimately, the show is poorly structured, all over the place and totally unclear in it's vision. If your bar for television is low and the topical themes of ****, et cetera are of huge interest to you then you should consider watching.

(note: many positive reviews are based on one episode and not the three that have aired which totally changes your opinion). So what was initially a fresh, bada@@ story devolves into a mismatched genre hybrid that has you scratching your head and laughing out loud at how terrible and incohesive it is. Initially it's like a high tension Greenbook with a magical quest element trying to find lost father, then it's suddenly a vampire/monster tv show, then a castle/wizard thing with crazy spells and supernatural powers, then a haunted house. On episode 3 the entire show essentially resets and the first storyline is just gone. It's like a season 2. I wanted to have a cooll bingeworthy show and instead it was a STRUGGLE to get through episode 2 and 3. Now it's time to move on. Watch and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Well intentioned show but she has zero personality and couldn't be less engaging. If someone like Jimmy Fallon did it, it would work.
