SummaryAt the UK company Reynholm Industries, their corporate high-rise towers are full of beautiful happy people with one success story after another. Well, except for the employees that work in the basement - the IT department. While their colleagues work in fantastic surroundings, Jen, Roy and Moss must work below ground in the dark and horrible base... Read More

I suspect anyone who's ever called a "help" desk seeking actual help, only to be asked, "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" won't need a translator to laugh themselves silly over The IT Crowd.

That the funniest straight-ahead sitcom of the American fall television season is a 2-year-old British import airing on a basic-cable network is because of a few things: a dearth of new American sitcoms, the availability of road-tested foreign product, and the ongoing expansion of the vast tracts of basic cable into the kind of programming that has traditionally defined broadcast television.

I don't think a TV show has made me consistently laugh quite as much as this one. Each episode is a gem in its own way, and the cast is spot-on. Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed!

Even though this show was produced ages ago, I just discovered it recently and I have to say it's one of the most hilarious tv shows I have ever seen. I fell in love with it immediately as soon as I started watching (which doesn't happen very often) and each and every single episode made me laugh like crazy. Sadly it's a very short show, only 4 seasons with 6 episodes each and one more double length last episode, way too few for such a brilliant show. It's also one of the very few shows, or probably even the only one, that I started watching a second time just a few days after I finished it.

L.A. Weekly
It’s old-school silly, filmed--defiantly, in these laugh-track-less days--in front of a studio audience, rich with sublimely broad performances, appreciative of the well-timed one-liner and the pratfall, in love with jokes of camera placement and confident in the healing power of a running gag.

This funny U.K. import's premiere introduces snobbish techie Moss (Richard Ayoade), his luckless-in-love buddy Roy (Chris O'Dowd), and their pretty but computer-illiterate new boss Jen (Katherine Parkinson).

Variety
So far, so good, but while writer-director Graham Linehan (working with "The Office" producer Ash Atalla) has created a vivid trio of oddball characters, his ingenuity doesn't extend to finding consistently amusing situations in which to put them.

The IT Crowd packages feeble stereotypes and then hits the send button.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
This story of two computer I.T. guys and their computer illiterate boss is overly obvious and plays on stereotypes in an over-the-top way that may have been au courant in the '80s but feels woefully dated today.

What can I say of one of the most hilarious shows on TV? One of my favorite show of all time, I can't stop laugh every time I saw it, I recommend it to every one!

This show is about computer nerds and their social ineptitude toward "normal people", but especially women, and their take at life; which boils downs to graphic novels, movies, and gaming. Sounds like a pretty awesome life to me. Sadly the last season went downhill and the final show that wrapped everything up was, well... bad. But those first three seasons will forever among my favorite shows of all time. You can keep Big Bang Theory. The IT Crowd will always bring a smile whenever I get a client with the heart of their network tucked away in some hole to be forgotten by the civilized world because they don't understand technology. I'll also never look at German food the same. Good stuff.

Set in the offices of Reynholm Industries, The IT Crowd revolves around the three staff members of its IT department: the nerdy Maurice Moss, lazy co-worker Roy Trenneman and manager Jen Barber. Despite the fact that both Chris O'Dowd and Richard Ayoade are undoubtedly very good comic actors I often struggled to enjoy The IT Crowd, in large part due to irritatingly dated laugh track. Whilst the show itself is a bit hit and miss in this first season, it became increasingly hard to ignore the jokes that didn't work with the sound of canned laughter ringing in your ears trying to tell you that you should have found something funny. Remove the laugh track and I would have been tempted to give this another season as it shows potential but as it is I won't be bothering.

This show has a good 2 funny jokes in every 20 minutes. After one show I had hoped this would be so bad that it would eventually get funny but they didn't even achieve that. Awful wanne-be Monty Python jokes and there's not much original after the first two episodes.

Watching IT Crowd one gets reminded about the British Tv-show 'Extras'; one of the main plots in Extras is that BBC, takes promising scripts and ruins them... In an effort to make broad comedy with catchphrases, silly wigs, haircuts, clothes and glasses, shallow stereotypes, obvious laugh track and bad acting. IT Crowd has a promising script, with cleverly written pop-culture jokes and ref.; but both jokes and script sadly goes to waste because BBC receives Gov. funds... and don't have to make good comedy. Long gone are the days when British television actually was at the front in Comedy on television... and today we have to be happy when/if occasionally we get to see a good British comedy Tv-series... But the IT Crowd is sadly not one of those occasions.
