The tone of the show veers back and forth between comedy and suspense. The name that pops out in the credits is Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files, The Man in the High Castle), who’s listed as co-creator and co-writer on every episode. There’s little of Spotnitz’s talent for dramatizing tension here. ... Indian Detective plays out like a tidy little PBS Sunday-night cozy-mystery show.

As an engaging detective story that makes the most of its premise, the series doesn’t have as much to offer. But as a globe-hopping mystery that makes for effortless viewing, there are worse ways to spend a few hours.

Unusual comedic detective show with scenes split between Toronto and Mumbai. The lead character is a Canadian/Indian detective who isn't exactly Sherlock Holmes. But unlike your initial impression of him, he's not a complete idiot either. Since the actor is a comedian, he gets the funny lines. If you are looking for the standard police procedural, you won't find it here. But if you're looking for something which doesn't take itself too seriously and has both comedic and crime, elements you may find it enjoyable. The scenes of Indian street life (Mumbai) are extremely interesting and one of its strongest points.

We **** l o v e d *** it! Ten THUMBS up!!!! Highly recommend! It's funny, intriguing, suspenseful, and downright entertaining. Some parts were thin, or wanting, but in the next instant your taken away in the suspense and drama of it all.
