Despite the years between sequels, the cast of The Best Man: The Final Chapters is a well-oiled machine, and it shows in this new series.

Not all of “Final Chapters” works, particularly when it flirts with topicality. ... The show fares better with race, which was seldom addressed in the Black rom-com subgenre, but is impossible to leave out of this expanded story, and is successfully funneled into Murch’s arc.

All in all, The Final Chapters is a fitting enough sendoff for a group of characters who are each given the opportunity to write the next chapter of their story.

The Final Chapter promises a kind of character development it only partially delivers on. Part of that can be attributed to the tendency to tidy up Big Conversations with pat remarks and swift expository dialogue.

There’s a wealth of thematic territory and character growth this reboot could venture into. And yet, there’s a frustrating lack of imagination, resulting in a pretty nonchalant conclusion.

Episodes 1 and 2 were worth the watch. However, it gets flat, boring and predictable from here. If you loved the very first movie, you should skip the series. The script was bad, the cast tried to bring it to life, but The Best man should be allowed to rest in peace at this point.
