“Renegade Nell” gallops ahead of other Disney+ offerings by telling a new story tremendously well, and giving us a young woman who defies the ruling class to gain not only justice but freedom.

Tremendous show. Great characters. Great journey. Disney are making a mistake. We want season 2! ****/VPf78PPnB7

Renegade Nell is well-paced and energetic, has a rollicking soundtrack, and delivers satisfying twists and turns en route to a crowd-pleasing finale as Nell finds herself confronting a deadly plot to destroy Queen Anne.

Like a lot of period pieces these days, the show is amusing, intelligent and very well executed, and it shrewdly exploits its comic and magical elements to get away with audience-friendly anachronisms of language, behavior and casting. The corollary, and perhaps the consequence, is that it feels like an exceedingly clever card trick — well worth the “Ooh,” but unlikely to linger in the mind.

The opening episode is strong, grounding the story in Nell’s family life. The further we get into the supernatural stuff, though, the more it feels like a rejected episode of Doctor Who. A truly memorable heroine is left battling through a script that isn’t worthy of her.

Bits of fun are scattered around a world too shabbily built to hold up to deeper scrutiny. As insistent as the series is about how much our scrappy young heroes matter, it’s oddly incurious about who they actually are.

This series is fun, funny and bad ass! Renegade Nell is my kind of hero. The acting was on point, the setting, the storyline, the action, the characters and relationships, all of it was really well done

Fun series, even if a rarther odd setting. Almost like Bridgerton style, but even more confused. It not only have Indian and African lords, it also has slavery in the England, which is just as historical inaccurate (it was historically only in colonies, never in Europe), and at odds with the coloured lords. But it is fantasy, so I give it pass on historical nonsense.

Disney made something new!!! Fun story and place in time, although the villains didn't do much it was still a fun show!

More WOKE Disney tripe. They take every idea, make it pretty (maybe) and ruin it. The acting is somewhat fun, the pacing is somewhat energetic, but black Lords in England? I think not! Clearly in another setting it works (see Carnival Row). I basically fast-forwarded past quite a bit of the series because it was so disgusting (not truth) in parts. Disney's idea of entertainment would make Walt Disney turn in his grave. Our recommendation is: "skip this and watch most anything else."

Just another woke Disney production. Story okish, pace is good but hostorically "adapted" truth put in place, unfortunately the truth of noawadays but not historically correct. Not worth my time, after 1.5 episodes I justgave up wasting my time...
