As threats against him grow, Clement investigates Anthony's murder, conflicting with DS Vanloo over methods. He discovers the murderer is someone from his own church.

When Stella witnesses Champton gamekeeper Edgy near Anthony's murder site, Audrey urges Clement to question the man; believing Ned killed Anthony out of jealousy, Jane reports him to the police; a body is left floating in the lake.
