Molly’s starting a new job at an all-black law firm, a utopian-seeming office with its own brand of workplace politics. She’s still seeing Dro (Sarunas J. Jackson), Mr. Open Marriage, so that’s another It’s Complicated. Insecure juggles these complications marvelously, blending swoony-sexy swagger with laugh-out-loud comedy. The four episodes I’ve seen push the central characters to moments of change, some minor, some life-altering.

Insecure has always been a half-hour series that goes down smooth but doesn’t shy away from the real, and in the episodes I’ve seen, it hits those marks this season with even more assuredness.

The show doesn't need to be the second coming of Sex and the City, but its most carbonated moments are when Issa and Molly spar with acerbic hedonist Kelli, one of TV's few zaftig sexual goddesses, and bourgie blonde arriviste Tiffany (Amanda Seales).

Issa pointedly says in Episode 2 that she doesn’t want to be the voice of all black people--and while that’s resulted in less bold, creative choices so far, it doesn’t mean they won’t be coming. If Issa’s “mirror bitch” is given more chances to make an appearance, all these little moments could add up to something major.

The first four episodes of Season Three (it premieres Sunday) are more relaxed and confident than anything it’s done to date, and it already felt like one of TV’s most self-assured hangouts.

Insecure's third season makes another strong comeback, this time with punchier, upbeat background music to go along with its different take on direction, humor, and attitude never so bold before. Of course, the show's greatest feat would be its writing, characters, and their lives, all intertwined beautifully and swiftly.

Still captivating despite seeming formulaic Issa is far from okay . Honestly bare despite losing focus this is another vital telling of issa growth.
