I found Blue Lights both grounded and overwhelming. The threat of real, imminent danger to the officers in this show - all of whom felt incredibly real - always loomed large in the backdrop of even the most tender moments. This is one of those rare shows that earns its (so far) positive, hopeful moments by balancing them with truly dire and devastating ones. And best of all, I found it easy to root for the characters I liked, laugh with glee when the antagonistic ones got their respective comeuppances, and wrestled with my feelings on at least a few characters who did not neatly fit into either of those categories. Overall, this is a truly standout police drama, and a damn good show to boot.

Being raised on a diet of **** Wolf’s adrenaline-filled Chicago PD and FBI, Blue Lights is a slow burn.. Thr police are all cowards and they might as well be criminals themselves for not doing their job properly. It’s hard to feel sympathy for this motley crew. The criminals should fear law enforcement, not the other way around.
