The greatest reboot of a series that has been done - ever! This still has me re-watching every episode and spin-off that was ever made! I am a huge Sci-Fi geek and this series hits every spot that has an itch! My only wish was for it to run longer because 4 seasons was not enough!

Watched Battlestar Galactica with Edward James Olmos(Blade Runner) as William Adama , Mary McDonnell(Independence Day) as Lauren Rosalin, Katee Sackhoff(Bionic Woman) as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace , Jamie Bamber(Hornblower) as Lee "Apollo" Adama,James Callis(Bridget Jones Dairy) as Dr. Gaius Balter,Tricia Helfer(Halo 3: ODST) as Number 6, Grace Park(The Immortal ) as Number 8/ Sharen "Boomer" Valeri/ Sharon "Athena" Agathan, Michael Hogan(Mass Effect 2) as Saul Tigh, Aaron Douglas(Lucky 7) as Galen Tyrol, Tahmoh Penikitt(Glory Days) as Karl "Helo" Agathan. Alessandro Juliani(Stargate SG-1) as Felix Gaeta, Kandyse McClure(Higher Ground) as Anastasia "Dee" Dualla ,Nicki Clyne(Level 9) as Cally Henderson, Michael Trucco(Next) as Sam "Longshot" Anders, Leah Cairms(Godiva's) as Margret "Racetrack" Edmonson, Rekha Sharma(The Outer Limits) as Tory Foster , Kate Vernon(Pretty In Pink) as Ellen Tigh, Richard Hatch(Battlestar Galactica 78) as Tom Zarek, Sam Witwer(The Mist) as Alex "Crashdown" Quartaro, Michelle Forbes(Escape From L.A.) as Helena Cain, Lucy Lawless(Xena:Princess Warrior) as D'Aanna Biers and Dean Stockwell(Dune 1984) as Brother John Cavil/Number One. I watched the series recently, and performances by Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, and James Callis are among the best in sci-fi television. I appreciated how intimate the storytelling felt, even as it spanned from Caprica to Earth. Kara “Starbuck” Thrace remains a standout—essentially a space Top Gun—and the decision to recast the role as a woman was bold and ahead of its **** show’s post-9/11 themes—security, faith, survival, and moral compromise—are still deeply relevant today. I loved the aerial combat, especially Starbuck stealing a Cylon Raider, her duel with Scar, and the destruction of Resurrection Ship. This kind of grounded sci-fi clearly helped set the precedent for later series like The Expanse and **** main criticisms are the overused love-triangle subplots and visual effects that are unmistakably very 2000s. That said, I didn’t hate the ending. Its cyclical message worked for me, even if I’m more optimistic: I like to believe humanity and the Cylons could coexist peacefully, and that we wouldn’t make the same mistakes twice. Showrunning by Ronald D.Moore(Star Trek :The Next Generation) & David Eick(Spy Game), Score By Bear McCreary(Rest Stop), Help Set Precedent for Modern Intimate Sci-Fi Series 8.5/10

On the one side the story was very interesting and some topics they mentioned were intelligent. The fight for survival was comprehensible. Some effects were nice, especially for that time. Some characters were clearly enjoyable, especially Dean Stockwell as John Cavil was great. Edward William Olmos as Adama Senior was also good. But many characters were very annoying: Kara Thrace and Laura Roslin for example and all the weak men with tears in the eyes (so often) or submissive to women. Overall the political correct gender mainstreaming and feminism were horrible, it destroyed a lot. The hand shaking camera was also annoying after some time, in addition the pictures were often too near to the characters. And the love stories were also...boring + political correct. The best part was the beginning of the 3rd season.

Watched the whole series including the prelude episode (pilot) on bluray back in 2007-2008. It was one of my first TV binging experiences and kept me glued to the screen. Tried re-watching it in 2024 and found it significantly less palatable. I believe TV has again gone through a renaissance of sorts with the quality of modern series being so much higher without the unnecessary pressure of syndicated TV having to pump out 22 episodes a season. As a result the diluted storylines and constant plot twists and misdirection to give the huge cast ample screentime really stood out to me. If you haven't watched it before then I'd highly recommend trying it.

Recently binged this gem, and I'm very sad I ignored this series when it was first released. Absolutely worth the runtime!

Battlestar Galactica 2003 is one of the last great Sci-Fi shows with a somewhat disappointing finale.

A show of sci-fi excellence spanning multiple episodes of sweet sweet awesomeness. It had great action, great production, and great acting, in a unique setting that out does the vision of the 70s show it is based off of. ...but there are only three seasons of this show. The supposedly 4th season rumored to exist by some people (they are not fans) is not cannon. It is the most ludicrously bad season I have ever seen in living memory to where in order to believe that the whole series is untainted, one must discard that who final season from memory. My score then is for seasons 1-3, the 4th gets a score of negative digits which are greater than pi calculated to completion.

pilot two episodes quality: actors, storytelling, dialogs, overall: 12/10. funny fact: in 2003 i totally ignored it because of the title picture - yes, that one with blond in red -it made impression of cheap soap-in-space with female picture as a click bait. well, click bait worked as repellent, and it took years to give it a chance and actually start watching... 3 hours later: wtf, i just watched one of the best sci-fi tv series ever! stupid poster...

My personal favorite tv-show. Have seen the series way to many times. Love the story, the "handheld camera feel" and the small details (like the papers edges are cut to save resources) etc. The ending is, in my opinion, great - many long-lasting series suffer from a terrible ending.

Whoa 2003 when it first launched and still one of those great shows that is still watchable today. Not as clean or sanitary as Star Trek and darker and gritter than even good old Babylon 5. I crack out the boxset every five years or so and go down the rabbit hole of a five seasons binge watch. Unlike B5 the special effects have aged well. An emotional roller coaster ride for sure that get you thinking about this and that moral dilemma. Great casting, great characters and great over arching story. Definitely not a kids show for sure. Shame the diversity hire hacks can't write as good as this these days. I miss when they hired actors/writer's on a semblance of talent. 2021 third re-watch and BSG just puts most of the modern mainstream serials to shame. This was 9/10 back in the day, but by todays standards it's a 11/10.

A yardstick for measuring every SF TV production that came after. The experience of watching the expanded series in chronological order (Caprica, Blood & Chrome, the Pilot, the seasons with all episodes extended to directors' cut version, with the appropriate webisodes and TV movies inserted in the right places) is a journey absolutely to be recommended. Strangely, this series is well reviewed by mainstream outlets, but don't let that fool you - it is serious, even philosophical sci-fi to its chrome core.

The first season of this TV show is one of the best productions that I know. It has everything you could ask for. The characters are well written, have a lot of depth, and are surprisingly well played by the actors. The intrigues and subplots are so thrilling. I fell in love with so many of the characters and associate most actors of this show with their roles in it. This isn't the first or last story in this universe. I think the idea of this universe and how it is driven forward - this is what makes the viewer so entangled with it. It might not be of everyone's taste, especially the biblical analogies, but the many times I've already watched this, I haven't regretted a single of them.

The best show on television. Ever. Nothing comes close to the level of storytelling, gripping plot and character development. Every character has their own flaws but also redeeming value to them. The show takes a hard examination of the human race and showcases it's resiliency and determination to prove it deserves to survive. The music is incredible. The acting is incredible. The story is incredible. 10/10. Must watch TV series.

Inspiring, full of amazing and relatable characters. Even though some action scenes haven't aged that well this is a perfect sci-fi drama

One of the best sci-fi, drama and action shows of all times. Pros: -Very good actors -great story with a satisfiyng end which makes the show feel like a 4 or 5 book series coming full cycle. -they really went to the limits of whats possible on the syfy network station in therms of topics. -good action, very good VFX and CGI -super writing, full of believeable twists and real, flawed characters Cons: -It never looks cheap but you can clearly see that they worked with a limited budget and could only afford a certain amount of high quality sets per season. Also a number of stock space fotage gets reused a little to much. -There are a few episodes per season which feel kind of filler. It would have been better if they would have stayed with a 13 or 16 episode count per season. Unfortunately in that days you needed to try to get about 100 episodes done for better syndication deals. I could only imagine how good this would have been, if made for a streaming service without the 42 min runtime cap, no swearing, no nudity, no gore. no offensive topics and a higher budget.
