This is a great and glorious movie, and its makers have a right to be proud of themselves.

Sure, this is mostly propaganda, a self-described memorial to the men who sacrificed their lives in World War I, but at the same time it’s honest enough to include a scene—60 years before Born on the Fourth of July—in which a returning soldier makes a tearful confession to the family of a lost pilot.

I am actually quite impressed and shocked how good this movie is. It is crazy that this movie is nearly 100 years old. We sure have come a long way in film making since then. There are some beautifully shot scenes on display here. Some of the run time is a little long for things, but you must forgive it for the age of this film. The only thing that really wore on me was the same song being played over and over for the entire 2.5 hour run time, even during times when it should not be feeling as upbeat as the music gives. The story being told here is actually a beautiful and tragic one. A true masterpiece for the era.

Amazing air duels and an impressive study of aviators are depicted in Wings, Paramount's epic of the flying fighters of the World War.

The film stars “It Girl” Clara Bow and a very young Gary Cooper in a WWI love triangle, but the film’s real highlight is its spectacular aerial photography.

Seen today, Wings impresses mostly with its enormous scale—its appearance of having been made with obscene amounts of money.

Obvious technical considerations aside, it holds up surprisingly well after so many years and is not hard to recommend for anyone with an interest in film history and World War I.

Clara Bow is mesmerising in this ahead-of-its-tie air force drama.

Decent technical filmmaking with miniatures primarily used for the combat sequences. The lead actress, Clara Bow, gave a very striking and expressive performance. Its a pretty weak portrayal of a wartime love story, overall. The music really got to me though, 140 minutes is too long to listen to the same 1 minute music loop for the entire duration, so I had to watch the 2nd half on mute.

Самый что ни на есть немой Перл-Харбор: очень затянутый хронометраж (для такой простой истории), куча денег потраченных на батальные сцены, поддержка американской армии, предсказуемый Оскар за визуал. Типичный Голливуд.
