Who Do You Love

For the most part, though, Who Do You Love does a marvelous job of recreating the times and the music and, most of all, of bringing to life this behind-the-scenes giant of the music business.

Nostalgia and blues buffs who missed that lively film ("Cadillac Records") could do worse than this entertaining, if sometimes slight, revisit directed by Broadway veteran Jerry Zaks.

Who Do You Love, directed by Broadway veteran Jerry Zaks, pays attention to the music but to its credit pays even more attention to the actors and story.

I think more edge is needed, more reality about the racial situation at the time, more insight into how and why R&B and rock ’n’ roll actually did forever transform societies in America and the world.

Works best when it isn’t about freezing time and explaining moments in pop-music history, but is instead about guys playing music together.

The music will keep you in your seat, but there's so much more to this story. If only they'd gotten it right the second time around.
