White House Down

There may be better examples of cinematic art in 2013, but for a good time at the movies, it's hard to imagine anything beating this action extravaganza, from director Roland Emmerich, about a very Obama-like president.

What makes White House Down not just tolerable but frivolously entertaining is its slapstick soul; a scene where the presidential limousine does doughnuts on the South Lawn plays like an homage to the Keystone Kops.

A buddy comedy disguised as a political thriller. It’s full of malarkey, but as a campaign of shock and awe, it’s hard to resist.

Even as the story accrues preposterousness, the action moves along crisply, and Tatum and Foxx hit a nice buddy-movie vibe.

White House Down is never more than a sliver away from gleeful self-parody. It’s pure patriotic kitsch, the cinematic equivalent of a black-velvet painting of a bald eagle clutching an American flag in its talons as it soars majestically over Mount Rushmore.

Perhaps afraid that watching a symbol of liberty repeatedly go boom isn’t enough, Emmerich and screenwriter James Vanderbilt add family drama, an attack on Congress, a plane crash and the possible nuking of the Middle East. What isn’t tonally jarring ends up shatteringly inept.

Here we go again. Its one favorite movie after another. THIS IS WHY I LOVE ROLAND EMMERICH and his movies! From the director of Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012 comes in a fun summer popcorn flick with great action, great actors that are just so lovable and great fun action/destruction in the white house. Yes, the 3 pervious movies I mentioned here are all my favorites which made me look up to Roland Emmerich. He is outstanding. Jamie Foxx and Channing Tantum had great chemistry and I just LOVED joey King in this movie! I just freaking love her, she's a cute teenage actress. Loved this movie, became one of all-time favorites. Great work everyone

Just enough in this one to keep the suspense afloat. Some bad CGI, but overall good performances by Foxx and Tatum. An action movie that is good enough to get the job done.

Der Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten James W. Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) zieht die Truppen vom Iran zurück und möchte Friedensverhandlungen führen. Nicht alle sind mit der Entscheidung des Präsidenten zufrieden und einige Verbrecher und der Sicherheitschef des Präsidenten Martin Walker (James Woods) stürmen das Weiße Haus und wollen den Präsidenten zu einer Entscheidung zwingen, die den dritten Weltkrieg zur Folge hätte. Nur der Sicherheitsmann John Cale (Channing Tatum) kann helfen, welcher mit seiner Tochter eine Führung durch das Weiße Haus macht. Ich werde mit Ronald Emmerich einfach nicht warm. Seine Art von Filmen sind einfach nur dumm und werden immer spektakulärerer so länger der Film wird. Die erste Stunde des Films ist noch interessant gemacht und unterhält einen, doch es wird immer actionreicher und es gibt mehr Explosionen und es wird mehr und mehr geschossen. Mit einer guten Geschichte kann man bei Emmerich nicht erwarten. Anfangs ist die Geschichte noch gut erzählt, aber der Bösewicht ist Klischeehaft und sein Motiv bzw. Ziel ist richtig dumm. John Cales Tochter ist mal wieder eines dieser Kinder, die nervig sind. Zuerst ist sie nicht allzu nervig wird, aber immer nerviger. Solche Art von Filmen unterhalten mich persönlich nicht immer. Die Übertreibung von Emmerich gefällt mir einfach nicht und ich habe das Gefühl, das er keine anderen Filme machen kann. Die Grundprämisse des Films ist interessant, aber zu übertrieben dargestellt. Wer auf einen Film Lust hat, wo nur voller Action und Explosionen Bock hat, ist hier genau richtig. Für Leute die mehr brauchen ist dieser Film leider nichts. Die erste Stunde hatte ich meinen Spaß, aber es wurde mir immer langweiliger, so mehr Explosionen stattfanden. 6/10

What an absolute **** movie. bull bull bull bull bull **** **** ****.

Absolutely ridiculous! It was totally **** unrealistic... It gave an image or perception that there is NO communication amongst security **** cameras in the White **** nobody paying attention... LOL It was indeed very silly to watch....typical American **** showed that Hollywood no longer knows how to make genuine action movies without unrealistic cheese being the norm.
