The New York Times
The action in The Wrecking Crew is so good, its fights so brisk and its car chases so lively, that it makes you wish its muscular leads, Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, had starred in more decent action movies.

The Globe and Mail (Toronto)
Momoa and Bautista are having an unhinged blast in The Wrecking Crew, as eager to rip each other a new one as they are to compare themselves (unfavourably and intentionally) to such contemporaries as John Cena and Dwayne Johnson.

This movie is what it was meant to be—a good time with a lot of action and great scenery. It’s never meant to be a deep dive into drama. Cinematic fun storytelling, so sit back and enjoy.Definitely worth the watch.

The formula is quite well known, and if there is anything to be thankful for, it is that it has its own identity despite all the clichés, including the unintentional humour. A good choice for a weekend.

Full-tilt Momoa and quietly powerful Bautista, with some gore and goofiness tossed in, is a satisfying improvement on the usual two-fisted formula.

What you see in the key art and the first-look impression you get from the teaser and trailers is a clear and accurate indicator of what you’ll get in the film. And for many action movie fans that’ll do just fine.

Never quite as funny as it wants to be, but making up for that in the violence department, it’s a healthy serving of slam-bang cinematic comfort food.

Next Best Picture
The Wrecking Crew simply relegates itself to the walls of screensaver cinema, destined to be ambient background noise.

The A.V. Club
The Wrecking Crew casts about between genres like driftwood caught by the tide; for two hours, the script cycles between family trauma drama, goofy Hawaiian noir, meathead romp, and wham-bang slugfest. The indecision at least showcases some consistency, though, in that each approach is equally dissatisfying.

Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista play half-brothers with an unpleasant past. After their father dies mysteriously, they begrudgingly come together to uncover the truth. They also fight a lot (with others and each other). This is an action comedy that works for two reasons: The chemistry of the duo and the incredible action sequences. Bautista goes for gruff, while Momoa is the funniest he’s ever been with sly, off-handed comic delivery. The action scenes are insane with numerous wild blows and one crazy car chase (the CGI seemed to be peeking thru). There’s even a direct reference to the classic “hallway” scene from “Oldboy,” where he dispatches a number of opponents while working his way down the hall. The plot follows the basic formula, but the stars and the action help make it a fun popcorn entertainment.

Both charismatistic leads can't save this so so action buddy comedy. Interesting locale though which gave it a bit of a plus. Mundane action set pieces though really sink this flick.

Really fun show, great cast and acting but the script could be more smooth, take thri time with the story at start but rushing at the end.

I have come to love some actor's schtick (Statham) but there are some (Momoa) that I think its unlikely I ever will.

Awful CGI which also looks low budget and previous millennium, plot and characters so simple, predictable and full I started doing something else mid-movie. Writers just didn’t mind all those plot holes they created. Felt like Momoa had fun, the rest tried to be serious. Momoa was in the right. Awful.
