Feels like nothing less than Dana Carvey's desperate bid for his own "Austin Powers"-like franchise, but with a harmless humor far less crude. Carvey favors whoopee cushion punch lines to toilet gags and references to big butts over sexual double-entendres.

Like criticizing the light fixtures on the Titanic. This ship was going down anyway.

Underrated, unforgettable, and certainly rewatchable. I have no complaints towards how this movie was done, and I mean everything. The Master of Disguise is a movie that was supposed to be as bad as some make it out to be, but the "lowbrow" humor that it comes with is absolutely fitting. Movie "critics" have nothing good to say about this movie, and sure, that's true if you only watch cinematic masterpieces and compare this to that. Of course Titanic is going to be better, it'll have plot holes filled, more emotion, etc. The Master of Disguise is the exact opposite. The plot holes, seldom seriousness, and many other faults others may call out. All of the priceless scenes are overlooked, especially the Tony Montana impression. Not to mention, all of the quotable lines. Although nobody may know what you're quoting (since this is such a niche movie nowadays), there's still so many memorable things about the movie. There may not be much character development, or really any depth to each character, but there really is something unique about them. The pacing to this movie is also key, you get introduced to the main character Pistachio quite fast, and you're not already half way through the movie wondering when things get interesting. With that being said, this movie is perfect for those without strict expectations for every movie they watch. In other words, this is 100% not a serious movie that should not be taken as serious as it has been.

This movie is a classic even though I hadn't seen it in 10 years it still holds up. If we can give Amy Schumer's train wreck of a movie a 48, this movie deserves at least a 50. all you weebs are on here ranting about how horrible this movie is when you don't understand that children do not care about a plot. Get real this is an entertaining movie and brings back heavy nostalgia for those who watched in growing up. It's understandable that some might not like it because their parents only let them watch Jesus Christ Superstar (which is a stellar movie) but give this movie a shot and you might actually like it.

Chicago Sun-Times
Pants and wheezes and hurls itself exhausted across the finish line after barely 65 minutes of movie, and then follows it with 15 minutes of end credits in an attempt to clock in as a feature film.

New Times (L.A.)
Mostly this happy train wreck feels like a longer, better movie that was chopped up and reassembled by retarded monkeys; what should have been a rush instead feels rushed.

Chicago Reader
Imagine combining bad imitations of the "Ace Ventura" and "Austin Powers" movies and you'll have a rough idea of this feeble Dana Carvey farce.

The A.V. Club
A film about as funny as a seeping wound.

No one but a convict guilty of some truly heinous crime should have to sit through The Master of Disguise, an unbearably tedious and unfunny comedy.

I can't see why everybody dislikes this movie. I thought Dana was hilarious at acting in this movie. In fact, I'd pay any amount of money for the turtles guy suit. I thought it was hilarious and I think the impersinations were wonderful. I catch this way better than John Carter.

This movie is not a cinematic masterpiece. It does not have brilliant writing. It is not the greatest movie you will ever see. It IS, however, a goofy family movie and should be treated as such. There are some humorous moments with some of the disguises that Pistachio uses. Your kids are likely to enjoy it, and you will likely enjoy it with them. Even if you don't have kids, you should still watch it just because it's dumb humor. You won't have to think about it, and it makes a lot of references to popular movies such as Jaws. This is a fun, family movie, and should be treated as such.

I remember watching this back when I was 8 or 9 when it first came out and I loved it, and after watching it again after a long time I don't really enjoy it anymore, I only chuckled once or twice, but for most of the movie I was kind of bored, it all seems so poorly put together now, so if you've got a young kid, they will love it as most of the humor is juvenile (and not exactly vulgar), but older audiences will find the plot stupid and rushed, the main character a idiot who just repeats what every other character just said, and realize how throughout the whole movie they rely on the same jokes used over, and over, and over again, so this one is for the kids, adults can avoid.

Tries way way to hard to actually be funny and instead views like a very mouldy cheese in summer.

This movie is so bad it is funny to laugh at it. Actually you should watch I didn't leave till the end. It was hilarious. I would buy the turtle guy suit though and there were 2 or 3 moments I actually found funny.
