The Good Son delivers its knuckle-gnawing set pieces with a skill that makes other thrillers look logy.

TV Guide Magazine
The Good Son is a second-rate thriller with first-rate production values. On a lower budget and without the hottest child star in America in the cast, Ruben and McEwan might have made a meaner, tougher and more successful thriller.

Darkest movies ever. This was the darkest movie I've seen in my lifetime, I mean by darkest that the whole script of McCaulay Culkin playing role Henry were really scary and heartbeating the whole time. The fact that the story could be true is devastating. Still this movie is a one of a kind and one of the bests I recall seeing. 2 boys in this movie did make their lifetime best roles. And at the end, I'd make the same decision.

(Culkin's) attempt to broaden his range with the not-for-kids thriller The Good Son — in a part that calls for complex emotions rather than amusing reactions-comes up way short.

The mere presence of the adorable baby star, in fact, seems to throw the whole film out of whack, making the picture play more like an inadvertent comedy than a thriller.

The unsurprising, one-note nature of The Good Son, the fact that it’s a bump-in-the-night movie where all the bumps are visible a mile ahead, sorely constricts any possibility of excitement.

Culkin's best comedy ever. If only this movie wasn't supposed to be a horror picture.

The movie is a creepy, unpleasant experience, made all the worse because it stars children too young to understand the horrible things we see them doing.

The movie was thrilling but quite unpleasant, where a kid age 12 is so smart that nobody even suspects anything.. and he is sick beyond saving..

I like when early in the movie evil Culkin tells our hero that he is going to try and kill him but then they shake hands and agree its much too early in the film to do it now.

Not only disturbing, but morally incorrect. I can't stand a movie where the source of suspense doesn't come from what the characters were doing, but at what age the characters are.
