Entertaining thriller took a left field on its final 3rd that made it a poignant movie that at the very least has a different take on this genre. Worth a watch.

(Mauro Lanari) A strange movie: whereas the Duffer Brothers knew how to blend the ingredients of the '90s to craft "Stranger Things", Jess Varley employs a similar derivativeness (Spielberg's alien diptych, Cronenberg's "The Fly", the creatures of "Jurassic Park" and Giger, the synth score) for a hasty, unresolved and not as convincing low-budget effort.

"The Astronaut" is a dull, disjointed, and disappointing sci-fi film with a great lead in Kate Mara and the decent stagings of a monster mystery, but it winds up being a humdrum offering in a genre usually teeming with imagination and innovation.
