Strange Wilderness

Strange Wilderness has three bad comic ideas for every good joke, and it botches many of those, too, thanks to slack comic timing and a nonexistent grasp of storytelling basics. But just when the flop-sweat stench is about to become unbearable, Strange Wilderness stumbles upon an uproarious, laugh-out moment, and suddenly it's tolerable again for another few minutes.

This one has the feel of being penned on rolling papers, with room to spare.

Despite the presence of funny guys such as Zahn, Garlin, Justin Long and Jonah Hill, along with veteran character actors Ernest Borgnine, Joe Don Baker and Robert Patrick, the movie fails to be even passably funny.

The result is a slacker comedy that goes slacker by the second, trying hard to be rude and crude but suggesting an old John Candy-Dan Aykroyd movie with bongs and more swearing.

No snob to low-brow ridiculousness when it’s actually unexpected, I’ll admit to being amused exactly once, when Zahn gets deep-throated by a gigantic prop turkey who, despite the mouthful, keeps on flapping.

The vibe isn't mellow, nor predictably, affably dumb. Rather, this is a slapdash effort whose faux-Farrelly brothers humour is papered over with an unremitting, distasteful malice, featuring a cast that's completely wasted, in both senses of the word.

You'd have to be more than merely intoxicated to find anything about this dismal stoner comedy remotely funny. You'd have to be unconscious.

I think its ridiculous people thought The Hangover was funny but people thought this movie was stupid. This movie had a mix of sexual and dumb humor which personally I think is what makes up this movie, as well as the Hangover. For instance, "If these fishes ate ****, and we're eating the fishes... Doesn't that mean we're eating ****?" That's hilarious! Very well done by the cast and crew.

The execution of the film is poor, but it may contain the most quotable and laugh out loud moments to runtime ratios I've ever seen. Steve Zahn is hilarious and Allen Covert, Jonah Hill, and Justin Long all have a few moments or one liners that are so ridiculously funny. If you go into Strange WIlderness with the realization that it's just one long sketch with a few bits to move the story along, and you aren't a complete ****, and your mother does not have two ****, or she has a negative ****, and you aren't color blind, you'll be quoting this movie with your friends before you know it. And if you don't have friends, you should probably just kill yourself right now because L Ron Hubbard, Jesus, Rambo, and Allah say so in the good book. Some epically funny stuff : Steve Zahn talking to a car full of cholos with an Indian accent, so they'd understand him better. Jonah Hill's song to his mom and step brothers in the RV. Justin Long's painted eyelids, "Woah a porcupine!" (it's a skunk), "It's cool, I'm a doctor, I need this **** "I'll take a Batman magazine". "They didn't understand my human language." LONG LIVE STRANGE WILDERNESS!

Strange Wilderness is just do incredibly bad that its funny - to the point where you feel completely embarrassed laughing at the inane comedic sequences being portrayed.

Yes it's a bad movie. It's lazy, presented flatly, and most of its jokes fall dead. I am embarrassed to admit however that some scenes did amuse me, but only because they were so stupid. The cast is good, but the script is just so lazy, aiming for the easiest jokes instead of being creative. There's a million uninspired comedies like this out there, but I didn't think that it was quite as terrible as some people are saying.

Don't bother wasting your time on this one it's not really funny. There are some chuckle worthy moments scattered throughout, but for the most part its humor is either too stupid or too vulgar to garner a laugh. And when it's not vulgar or stupid it's offensive and disgusting. They try to make a joke out of a man who was just cut in half, show us a mans deformed genitals, and throw so many gay and **** jokes at us that all I did throughout this movie was groan at how painfully boring this movie can be. Like I said there are a few chuckle worthy moments and all of them are in the trailer. Don't watch this crap.
