Love, Guaranteed

If likability is a trait you value, Love, Guaranteed delivers the undemanding pleasure of watching two fundamentally decent people tumble into fondness and then love.

Love, Guaranteed, simmering at a low boil, is a short and mostly sweet affair. Its successes are due in large part to Cook who, donning a vast array of snug fall coats, is endearing as a willful working woman with a new crush.

There won’t be many viewers who’ll remember it by this time next month but within its swift running time, it just about fits the brief, zipping along at speed buoyed by the charm of its leads, like almost guaranteed instead.

It turns out “Love” isn’t “Guaranteed,” any more than laughs, relatable characters or anything else.

Love, Guaranteed is the kind of movie you leave on the TV because you’re lying on the couch with a cold, and the remote control has fallen off the blanket onto the rug, and you don’t feel like going to the trouble to reach down, grab it and change the channel.

And before anyone pulls out the “guilty pleasure” card – no. There is zero pleasure here, no matter how low your bar is currently set. Only pain. So much pain.

This is watchable pap. Watchable because the cast is pretty and the film is short (90 mins). Otherwise, it is predictable with absolutely nothing surprising or even clever about the love story or courtroom drama. The ending itself will leave you a little unsatisfied.

I need them to stop pushing this narrative of blcak men with hwite women. They put these two on the cover and thought this would be "the one". Show me something I havent seen before like TWO medium brown complexion people in love for once Hollywood. This movie casting is corny and tired and trumps the very original idea the writer had in mind.
