Either Live Free or Die Hard will go down as the summer's best action blockbuster, or it's going to be one exceptional summer.

Does it herald a renaissance in the action genre? Not really, but it's a welcome throwback to good old-fashioned, '80s-style lunkhead violence, and no one takes a punch, kick, elbow, or bullet quite like John McClane.

The analog hero in a digital crisis: A 5.0-star explosive masterpiece that redefines survival.070717 (5.0)I watched this in the theater in 2007. It was an adrenaline-pumping experience that proved John McClane is still the ultimate "die hard" hero, even in a world dominated by cyber-terrorism. The contrast between his old-school, visceral action and the high-tech threats was perfectly executed. Every sequence, from the car flying into the helicopter to the jet chase, was breathtaking. A definitive 5.0 for a perfect action flick that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

Live Free or Die Hard has brought back the wise cracks that was missing from the processor and the action was just thrillingly insane to watch.

Die Hard With a Vengeance is Speed. Live Free or Die Hard is Speed 2. This movie is awful. I felt dumber after watching it.

This is not Die Hard, it's super hero Bruce Willis vs the world, much like the other installments that came after the third movie, which was the last one to make any sense. The John McClane character is butchered by the writers, turned into something that doesn't have any connection to the original setting in the first three movies. This effectively ruined the franchise.
