With a shamelessly cliched script by Amy Holden Jones (based on a novel by Jack Engelhard) that includes a speech plagiarized from Citizen Kane, the results are only for those who can take fare like "Valley of the Dolls" with a straight face and want to see Redford play Jay Gatsby again.

Mr. Lyne's films may not cast any new light on the human condition, but they do keep you glued to the screen.

Indecent Proposal is a 1993 film by Adrian Lyne.... I'm giving it an 8 only because Robert Redford's acting was top notch and Demi Moore's was okay. It's an okay film but not one I'd watch regularly but Oliver Platt's performance and Woody Harrelson's leave a nasty taste in your mouth. Seriously Oliver Platt can't act at all and he wasn't even that great in Flatliners and Executive Decision and as far as Woody Harrelson goes I can't stand him as a person or an actor lol. There's some good moments in Indecent Proposal like Redford and Demi Moore on the boat and the lights go off and stuff and the pool or snooker game scene with conversation running over it and the betting scenes. As the film drags on though so much of it feels empty and depressing and I'm not a huge fan of it but Robert Redford gave his best performance ever so I'm being generous and giving it an 8. Most of the acting is great but some of the characters seem utterly stupid but all in all an average film. Not the best and not the worst. Only the high rating because Robert Redford's acting was spot on but no other reason. The thought of letting some stranger sleep with your wife for a night for a million dollars does seem a strange suggestion though lol

This is more a film about trust, manipulation and morality than it is about sex. The central premise is one thing but the story is somewhat more complicated than first appears and of course there's the whole consumerist society moral angle and the whole capitalism angle too. Robert Redford is his usual suave self, right enough and Woody Harrelson also gives a good performance as the husband, David Murphy. Its perhaps a little over sentimental at times - I think it could have done without the tinkly piano music in one or two scenes, frankly, some emotional responses felt too forced on the viewer for my personal tastes but its a relatively thought provoking watch and generally its a good(ish) film. I'd recommend this film to others, esp. fans of Redford and Harrelson but if your hoping for some kind of porn film then this may disappoint because it isn't exactly full of sexual scenes, which may be a relief for some or a disappointment - I'll, obviously, leave that for you to decide. It is perhaps a bit too morality based for some as well but I thought it was, overall, a good watch. Oh and I was surprised to find Billy Connolly is in the cast too.

Indecent Proposal starts out kinky and turns into a languid-and shockingly banal- domestic soap opera.

He's obsessed with the physical details instead of the human emotions. The actors are really just part of the scenery.

With some movies, though, it's just the opposite. Like this one. It's a whole lot easier to forget than to forgive.

The movie is hardly in a position to chastise Gage for his empty soul when its own style is one of numbing, desolate slickness.

In Adrian Lyne's latest monstrosity, love takes on money -- and loses. Not necessarily in the story, of course. This is a Hollywood movie. I'm talking between the lines.

Indecent Proposal is a 1993 romance drama starring Robert Redford, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson and Oliver Platt... Director Adrian Lyne who brought us films like Fatal Attraction and Flashdance now makes Indecent Proposal... Robert Redford is some billionaire named John Gage and offers Diana Murphy (Demi Moore) and David Murphy (Woody Harrelson) friendship to some degree in the movie after Demi Moore helped the billionaire win some money whilst gambling. He asks David Murphy (Harrelson) during a game of snooker or pool if he can borrow his wife for one night and the reward of doing so is a million dollars. The night would come and go but the money would last a lifetime so seems a fairly decent idea but who would share their wife with some other guy especially a stranger? The film raises questions but Robert Redford gives an excellent performance and so does Demi Moore and the film has trust issues and problems throughout especially after Demi Moore sleeps with Robert Redford and essentially cheats on her husband even if it was all consented by the husband. Not the best film but okay and decent but contains scenes of sex and bad language.

Pretty standard emotional cheese. The drama centers around the titular proposal, however I couldn't quite buy into the choices the characters are making so for me most of the dramatic sections fell flat. The cast and cinematography is great but the simple screenplay feels undercooked.

Good performances, the pacing was a little rough in spots and the characterizations were pretty thin.

The actual premise for the movie is quite thought-provoking, but that's about where anything interesting in this movie stops.

"Indecent Proposal" is a sub-genre of erotic drama. Seeing this movie again after thirty years of its making has a nostalgic feeling. At that time, this film faced many negative reviews from critics, but it was successful at the box office and was able to gain the satisfaction of the public. The presence of movie stars, "Demi Moore" and "Robert Redford" as well as the subject of the film were the main reasons for the public's acceptance of the film. "Demi Moore", who is thirty-one years old at the time of making the film, wants to portray a desirable woman in the role of Diana. But his acting in this role is not acceptable and only his name remains on the role. Before this movie, Demi Moore was able to get a lot of attention for the movie "Ghost" directed by Jerry Zucker and was nominated for the Golden Globe Award. Demi Moore has been nominated by MTV for four years in a row and won the best kiss of 1994 with "Woody Harrelson" for this movie. Robert Redford, the director, actor and film producer, who is always remembered with the beautiful movie "The Horse Whisperer", was nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award for his role in this movie. In my opinion, "Sundance" is one of his greatest and most influential works. In 2014, Time magazine named Redford as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. The movie could have offered a philosophical dialectic about man, but this movie really has nothing to say. Although tries to put the concept of forgiveness as his manifesto, he is not really successful in this connection, and the only memorable point of the film is the motif of the phrase "I never told you I love you".
