Eraser is more or less what you expect, two hours of mindless nonstop high-tech action, with preposterous situations, a body count in the dozens, and Arnold introducing a new trademark line of dialogue (it's supposed to be "Trust me," but I think "You're luggage" will win on points).

"Eraser" (1996) came out for me at the perfect time - a 12 year old dying for Arnold movies. I loved this movie from the get go, watched it more than 20 times back then, and revisiting it in 2026 on newly released 4K UHD disk was a blast. This is one of the most skilfully made, fun and entertaining action film from the 90's with Arnold Schwarzenegger - and it hardly gets better than this. Packed with amazing supporting character star actors like James Coburn, James Caan (what an amazing villain!), and directed by a late great Chuck Russell this movie is a blast. Vanessa Williams brought such a great presence to the movie - she is really amazing in this one. Story was good and involving, and at running time 1 h 50 min I thought it was perfectly paced. Music by Alan Silvestri is nearly a perfect one.Overall, "Eraser" for me is a near perfect action film. The plane sequence even in 2026 will test your sound system and it does look amazing. A last great film with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

One of the better Arnie movie. The story is better written, than in some older action movies and it was interesting. The action scenes are very good in the beginning and middle part with begin ridiculous in the end, like many times in movies with Arnie. Character Lee Cullen was annoying and the feminist part in the movie (strong, independent woman, and a man who is running after her...both unrealistic).

It takes the usual chases, explosions, and shoot-outs, and places them in plot that involves all sorts of computerized and electronic gadgetry. Often, as is the case here, not much attention is paid to whether the "science" is technologically feasible, but if something looks and sounds neat, why not use it?

Eraser means to show off the star's standard persona against a backdrop of lavish special effects, which is certainly a formula that's worked before. But this is no "Terminator," since its tricks are so much more arbitrary and over-the-top.

The picture is effectively made, but viewers will want to erase the horrific violence that erupts in scene after scene, leading to an unusually mean-spirited finale.
